Kountze had to find a way to make-up for the loss of Linn "on-the-go" so there was no practice time to make an adjustment.
They beat EC 82-79 on a neutral floor and still haven't recovered from losing Linn. You know EC is a tough out at home.
2.
EC will play kountze close but Kountze wont lose a district game.
I didn't mean anyone would beat Kountze at Kountze but I think the Bucs win at EC.They gave them all they could handle on a neutral floor and I think they lost their best player when Lin went down.
3. Kountze and EC split home and away and playoff for seeding (AGAIN) Anahuac nudges out Hardin for the 3rd spot. The rest are an absolute coin flip and no one goes undefeated this year.
4.
Look at it logically. You dont average 21.6 ppg riding the bench "a ton of time". McDaniels is Kountze's playmaker. You take him out, they arent as good. Yes, theyre still a good ball club. But they arent near as good without him. Yes, Silsbee has ten or eleven kids that can play. DC is the guy that holds them together though. Without him, silsbee doesnt do near as good. Theyre still exceptional without him, but not as good.
I have seen Kountze play ALOT this year and have seen McDaniel ride the bench a ton.You make my point for me,Kountze can beat good teams without him because they have players that can take up the slack. The same goes for Silsbee and DC.No doubt both clubs are better with them but are deep.In my opinion, and that's all it is, Woodville doesn't have the depth to win without Sells against good teams.I think Woodville can play with Anahuac this year but I would give Kountze and EC a pretty good edge.
5. Merry Christmas to everyone on the absolute best sports talk site around !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
6. The big difference in Woodville and all the clubs you compared them to are they could still beat good clubs without their best players.Silsbee has 10 legit players,HJ has been without 2 of their best and are still 15-2 I think.McDaniel spends a ton of time on the Kountze bench and they still beat good clubs. If you take Sells out of the Eagles line up I don't think they beat many good clubs, especially the ones that pressure the ball.I try to give any club the benefit of the doubt but I didn't see but 2 kids on the Woodville club that could handle the basketball.
7.
what about Dunigan from Evadale?
Surely you're not serious.
8. Just for grins let's compare them to the best 2-a clubs out of the south district.Having watched all 3 clubs Ktz,EC and Woodville I think Ktz and EC are at least 15 points better than Woodville. Now take Sells out of Woodvilles line up and I think the margin goes up dramatically.Maybe I'm missing something but let me know what you guys think.Ags, the Silsbee games aren't an anomoly they are an example of adjustments a good coaching staff makes.
9.
From what I have been told, DC Stallworth is getting looks from some SLC schools and a couple C-USA schools. DC can and will play guard at the next level.
I think he is without a doubt the best player in this area this year. These are mid-major schools and he should be a fit there. He will have to develope the long ball to play the 3 guard in college, which is where I think would be his best fit.
10. The schedule will definitely help them down the road.I haven't looked at a playoff bracket or even any possibilities about who they could play if they win the district.Playoff basketball is ALL about matchups and you have to see who you're playing to know how you'll match up.Some matchups would favor them and some wouldn't.I'm definitely gonna try and check them out some at EC.
11. That's the biggest misconception about playing college ball. There is very little if any financial help at a D-3 school. Some kids sign to play at them only to realize later that it's not what they want to do.It's hard to go from a packed house in high school to a some of these small schools who draw 150-200 people to a game. There have been some really good small school players in this area over the last few years and most didn't play past high school. If you ever get a chance go check out an SFA,Sam Houston or Lamar practice, these are small mid majors and the talent level will open your eyes.
12. You're not gonna be playing Lovelady in the 3rd round of the playoffs.I hope Woodville does well if they make the post season but the bring the ball down the court yourself that night meant everyone else that tried turned it over.Give Sells some credit,he's pretty darn good.
13. They must have had them hid when I saw them play. They had one more guard that could handle the ball against pressure. At one point this season I heard the Woodville coach tell Sells to "just take the ball down the floor himself".Sells is a good player but if you take him out of the mix the Eagles playoff lives are short lived.
14.

I looked at the pool Evadale is in and it's brutal. They will have a tough tourney and will really have to play well to get a "W" in this one. This will probably be the last challenge they get until the playoffs start.Good luck Rebs.
Whsalum i tell BS to play there JV team so the starter can rest. ;D ;D ;D ;D
I haven't seen BS yet this season CATMAN but the rest of the teams that I've seen outta that district have been waay down compared to years past.
15. Eagles you gotta get out and watch more basketball.DC is the best player in SETX I've seen this season and he may get a shot at a mid major if he really developes his outside game, thats ball handling and shooting.Probably not another JUCO or D-2 player on the list.I don't mean any disrespect to any of your choices but there are some really good players out there vying for very few spots.A couple of these guys may play D-3 ball but there won't be much financial help involved.A 6"2 post player doesn't have much of a shot at playing college ball, let them enjoy their high school career.
16.
May just have to camp out down sisth street... ;D
You took the "X" outta 6th street, heck that's half the fun LOL
17.
I say we bocott those hotels. I usually stay at the Hilton Airport for 65 per night
That's what I'm talking about Santa and if you go down Riverside the traffic isn't bad.The main thing to remember is stay off 35.
18.
Umm pending on which teams go where... that will determine if woodville goes three rounds
And the way other teams begin to defend Sells. He is the key to their entire game and you can bet other clubs will start to game plan for him. They may make the playoffs but 3 rounds deep will be a stretch unless they avoid the top 2 out of the district just south of them.
19. There are a ton of motels out by the airport on Ben White Blvd that are very reasonable. You can cut up Riverside and go in the backway to the drum. The parking garages are the best bet to park.I have stayed at the DoubleTree several times but they are overpriced now on regular days much less when they have an event going on.Garmin can get ya there or you can grab a cab for about what a parking pass will run ya.
20. I looked at the pool Evadale is in and it's brutal. They will have a tough tourney and will really have to play well to get a "W" in this one. This will probably be the last challenge they get until the playoffs start.Good luck Rebs.
21. One player and 2 possessions never loses a game. The hardest thing for young players to learn is that it's a waste of time to slow down and argue a call when the official has already judged it to be a no-call.I'm gonna look at the EC bracket and see if I can make any educated predictions.
22. I was at the game D-ville and was simply offering an analysis of what I saw.I have given Evadale all the props, they have an excellent club and are lucky to have a perfect fit on the bench for this senior heavy club.Coach Williams does a great job.I am not a Kountze supporter but have saw them play 6 or 7 times this season as well as seeing Evadale play 3 times. The Rebels should build on this game but odds are Kountze would not have this type game again.Dunnigan had a super game but you are spot on about his emotions, you just gotta play the game.I gotta give props to #34 for Evadale who was put in a situational substitution role with about a minute left in the game and worked his assignment to perfection.Thats the kind of small plays that tell me how well coached a team really is and he pulled his assignment to perfection.True don't sleep on EC next week, they are very good this season and one of the toughest clubs around to beat at home.
23. Kountze had a ton of open looks from behind the arc they just didn't hit them.Evadale played quite a bit of zone '"D" and the long jumper is there aginst that defense but you have to hit it to bring folks out of it.I agree with Aggie ,the ft shooting was what kept Evadale from winning this one.For whatever reason the Lions didn't turn up the pressure until the game was on the line but then it was evident they had another gear.I will also agree with ya about Coach Williams having the Rebels going in the right direction but I don't think the Rebs would gain anything by a game 3.
24. Kountze looked like they had already started the christmas break. They didn't have any defensive intentsity until late in the fourth.Up until that point they were content to set back a shoot the 3.I don't think Zay was even in double figures,he struggled all night. This was by far Kountzes worst performance the year.
