Port Neches-Groves 42 Goose Creek Memorial 7/FINAL
Brubaker replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
LTrain11- Faircloth runs stuff that is only seen on other planets and some not seen in our solar system.. . there is no way to prepare. -
You are bringing back a breath of fresh air to this rivalry. The win streak has made people too tame. Thank you!

Adrian Pererson uses statement by wos HC Thompson as fuel.

WOS wins because they have one of the best combinations of talent and hard work there is in the state. When someone earlier said Thompson wasn't allowed to run his program how he needed to at Palestine, that is a very real possibility. Requiring weights before school, mandatory off-season conditioning, no "breaks" or taking days off for other sports... etc, these are all things that a lot of school districts / communities are not inclined to support, but are the backbone what WOS does over there. A lot of programs have similar off-season programs, but when it's coupled with incredible talent and tradition, you get these results. -
Where is WOSGrad when another thread needs to be put to rest.

No clue, just remember hearing about them beating McZeal's 8th grade team, not sure who he played for but thought PN.
-
Didn't this Nederland group at CO beat PN when they were in the 8th grade? Means nothing at this point, but to say they are weak in the talent area since the 8th grade, you would've thought they would've gotten beat no?

Good thing Lumberton doesn't open district play with Memorial. Can you imaging going from HF to Memorial in the span of a week. Shock to the senses.

Predictable. 6th year is the charm.

They weren't suspended, his words were they are no longer in the program. Sounds pretty final to me.

I heard they had it fixed, but it shorted out again from overuse Friday. -
West Orange Stark /Nederland Game Atmosphere

It was raining a lot harder on our side, so nobody could get their phones out. -
Ok, then let's just bring burgers and we'll flame em up, try to go light on the smoke this week.
-
You bringing briskets or sausage?? We'll need you to show up early if it's briskets, needs to smoke a while.

I'm pretty sure face guarding is legal in Texas, you don't have to look back for the ball if contact isn't made. You can face guard. I may be wrong, but I think that's the rule.

Classy 99- You sure you're not an old Summer Creek fan and are just lost???

Screen shotting this one

Perfect storms? I went to both, Nederland played hard but the ball consistently bounced against them in both games. Plus GCM played flawless in both games, no turnovers and made plays that I'm doubting they made the rest of the year. Stuff happens. I can promise you that there are some Nederland posters you wouldn't want on here if we had a 50 plus game district winning streak, so it's probably all for the best. I'm good with our 5 / 2 straight trophies. Just wanting longer playoff runs.
-
Nederland has suffered many blowout and 0-fer predistrict portions of the season, having their district foes licking their chops thinking this is the year the Dog gets put down. Hasn't quite worked out yet, but if you keep predicting it, statistics say that eventually you'll be right. Time will tell.

We have a plan Liltex, don't blow it for us.

Let's try to better understand the term "Gamer", which often times has nothing to do with your 40 time, height or weight, bench press reps, vertical. It's that thing that you can't put your finger on and drives some who can't put their stop watch down, just crazy. Gamers usually win... period. Coaches at all levels love GAMERS, I can see why LU offered him. You don't QB your team to a state championship game as a sophomore when you were 3rd on the depth chart when the season began, unless you are a GAMER.
-
Foster lost by one score to George Ranch and were knocked out of the playoffs by Temple who played GR well the following week. I would say they were one of the top 6 5A schools in the state last year.
-
I can't argue with the handicapping here. Lots of headwinds. 1. Facing a 3rd year QB who has played in two State Championship games already. Kid is a stud and has weapons to deliver the ball to. 2. Trying to figure out your own QB situation... against a dominant defense. 3. Starting out on the road. It will be a tough task.
-
Not sure if they can put a crown big enough on a turf field for Nederland, so they probably will never get one.

Better than less with more... no?
