Huckaby has a cannon arm and Mosley is an awesome wr. Makes the team better and tougher to defend against.
I'm not sure about that.  I'm pretty sure that will never happen.  Edmondson would get completely phased out if that happened.  Who is he going to take carries away from?  Herman? Lavalais? Espree? Redmond? Do we even know if Moseley will be here next year?  Liberty has a chance to hire a great coach.  Taylor, Foreman, maybe Huckaby...what keeps him from bouncing back to Liberty if they hire a coach who wants to sling it around.  His buddies will call him and he will have a decisino to make.  I think it's risky to change up everything that has made HD successful this year, to build around one guy who has played two games in a HD uniform.  I mean, we will still be running the slot T.  We are going to remove a QB who runs it perfectly in order to plug in another guy so we can throw three times a game?  I don't think so.  I dont' think the coaches are thinking that far ahead.  They were focused on this game.  I might be wrong, and if i am I will apologize, but this is extremely far fetched.
May even move Mosley to QB. The offense will be lead by Aaron Mosley, Darrell Lavalais and Chris Herman. We ran the slot t because we had too, best for our team based on our personell. Now with Herman discovered as a punishing runner and the explosive Mosley, HD may can run all kinds of offenses. Darrell Lavalais now, is not the only beast.  ;)But if we stick with slot t and move Cade Huckaby to QB, Mosley would be effective at WR. Huckaby has a cannon.
Doubt there will be a QB change, Huckabay is still young and needs to work on his speed. They will stick with the slot-t, Coach Huckabay is a football guru and when it's perfected it's hard to beat. Coach Huckabay is too smart to take that disaster of a job.
 2. Finney from HD. They weren't supposed to win a game this season and ended up district champs. He saved HD from drowning!

Also our top players have not got the ball very much this year. Would love to see Darrell and healthy Drake get 20 plus carries in a game. Hoping to see Garrett Hickman healthy and starting in the backfield soon. Go Bobcats!
Not that I care HDBobact 55... but I can't help but notice the continuous comments you keep making about your thoughts on how this team should be run.  Where players should be played...who should run the ball and when...who should play and who shouldn't.  I have a questions for you.  Did you know....that HD's OC has coached in 2 state championship games recently?  Did you also know...that HD's HC has won more playoff games in the last 5 years than HD has won in the past 30?  Why don't you keep the stupid comments to yourself and let your coaches do their job.  There is not a coach alive...that is not doing everything in his/her power to WIN the games that matter.  If you think you could do so much better...get a degree, get a teaching certificate, and apply for a coaching job at HD.  Otherwise.....SHUT UP! Everybody that goes to this site has had just about enough of your opinions.
Amazing post. LOL hdbobcat am I supposed to be intimidated at 6'4" 350? I'm not quite scared, so hush on the critique of the coaches. Go Bobcats.
 4. Orangefield needed this win. They are still looking rough though. District won't be fun.

 8.
What I saw last night was two teams with zero speed. Both offenses were very predictable, HD just had the size to pull theirs off. Hardin tried to spread it out but doesn't have the QB or receivers to do it. HD ran a 1975, pile everybody up in the middle and smash it, I was waiting for them to set up in the wishbone. This won't work against the championship teams of today. Now, I do except that HD didn't need to try anything else and probably have more than they showed. As for Hardin, seeing that Kountze and Warren both had big wins last night, we better improve very quickly.
Haha Huckabay's offense predictable? The guy is a football genius. Pile everybody up in the middle and smash it? More like solid blocks, misdirection, and tough running. Won't work against championship teams of today? That is a bold statement. Huckabay took Paul Pewitt to state in 2005 with the exact same offense, however got trumped by Celina. Bruce Bush developed this offense and was one of the top 15 winningest coaches in the state of Texas before he retired. Has there been some kind of miracle defense that "championship teams of today" developed that can absolutely destroy the Slot-T? Please inform me of your almighty knowledge of this sport.
 9.

Many skills from all sports can be taught in 50 minutes.  My belief is that the Head Coach of the sport should be allowed to decide what days to lift weights, what conditioning or agility drills would benefit his kids, and what sport specific skill drills could help his sport.  Most coaches want to build something within their sport so they would want to get better in the offseason.  It is hard to do that when you have no control over what the kids do in the offseason.  Many people have gotten on here and said that kids should be motivated enough to do it on their own.  I completely agree and when I was younger we were like that.  Are we really naive enough to think that very many of them are going to do that today.  Kids have changed.  They don't live outside anymore to throw the ball around or shoot hoops.  Society has changed and athletics needs to adjust as well in order to progress.  Somebody mentioned the 2010 Bobcat baseball team.  That team had three young men who really knew how to work and were gifted with many natural talents as well.  They were very driven.  Those kids don't come around very often.  Not many teams have 3 Division one athletes on one team at the 3A level.
I agree somewhat with your statement about the kids of today. I graduated from Orangefield in 1980 and believe me the parents of today would not like Coach Peveto. I played 4 sports and even though Basketball was my favorite I did not mind going through offseason for football because a position is earned not given. That being said there are football players that play basketball and I am sure they want equal practice time as the kids who only play Basketball. It is hard to practice when your whole team is not there. If you give to one it will take away from another. All this is mute point because as long as we are in this district it will be a struggle. Like you said those really gifted athlete's don't come around very often and neither will winning for orangefield. Don't get me wrong, I think our kids are awesome and for being out numbered they fight to the end.  Before the 2010 group came the last athlete to stand out was Jeff Granger. That was 22 years ago. I don't have a dog in this fight anymore. When I hear classes for an individual sport I see specializing and I will never agree to that. I guess I will be old school forever. Huck will be gone soon and some of you will win. I will just sit back and watch because when a new guy comes in and things don't go the way some of you want it to or the program does not progress, I will be there to say I told you so.
There were many athletes on the 2010 group, in fact just about all 9 starters were pretty impressive. Felts and Statum obviously attained much of the attention, but don't forget that Q. Evans is at Blinn doing quite well, Angelle went to Lamar and recently picked up his first collegiate W, Huckabay had a few smaller schools interested in him to walk on for baseball but ended up going with football at McNeese, Derick Evans could have went to college for any sport and if I'm not mistaken McNeese wanted him for baseball, with a bigger frame I think Deramus could have played somewhere as well. This was not some random lucky cluster of good athletic genetics that made this team successful, it was the skills they developed starting at a young age and the hard work put in outside of their mandatory practices that set these guys up for a successful season. To rely on HS coaches to develop those types of skills in that short amount of time is a little far fetched.
 10.
I just talked to  UIL director and yes you can practice a sport out of season duing the school year in the athletic period. I was wrong but I still feel the sameway about classes for individual sports. 50 minutes is not a lot of time to actually get in much work.  Most of the work is done after school. HJ is good not because they have a basketball class but because of their little dribbler program. I don't see the baseball class helping their baseball program. Silsbee they just have more athletes plain and simple. Don't see a basketball class helping Bridge City either. Here are the facts, unless Orangefield really grows at a rapid pace we will always be in the rear view mirrow of WOS, Silsbee and HJ in basketball, also WOS, Silsbee and BC in football. It will be hit and miss for us as long as we stay in this district. We simply do not have the number of athletes some of these bigger schools have. Orangefield needs to have their athlete's playing multiple sports in order to compete. If kids start specializing the program as a "WHOLE" is doomed. That is what we are talking about RIGHT, the "WHOLE" program.
Perfectly put!
 11. Whats wrong with core weights and speed/agility exercises+conditioning during the period? Can you not use that for every sport OF has to offer?
 12. IMO most of the individual skills are learned at a young age. When they get into HS they are (for the most part) expected to already know how to dribble, shoot, swing, throw properly. To polish off those type of skills it takes a driven individual to practice outside of the normal practice times, putting in that extra effort on the weekends. Ask any successful player at any sport and I bet they tell you that the extra effort put in outside of practice is what set them apart from the rest of the athletes. It's when you get a group of kids that all are willing to put in that extra effort is when you get the best results. Ex. the 2010 Orangefield Baseball team when they made a run at the playoffs. Most of those kids had been playing together since they were just little guys in t-ball. And you can bet that even before the official practices started they were out there putting in work without the coaches, getting their arms in shape, getting their swing mechanics back in order, etc, so that when the season came around they were ready to roll. My point being that it is not sufficient to rely on what is done during practice or an athletics period to make a team successful. If you disagree with that I would be happy for you to give me an example of a team that was successful putting in ONLY the necessary work.
 13.
Guess you had to be there.  The majority o people that were in that room that night were either over 55 or they had 5th graders in the program.  I was there.  As far as the workouts at no time did he step up because the other coaches did not have a workout, they are just not allowed to do them.  I have had kids in the program for 7 years and am very involved.  So, unless you have first hand knowledge of the situation I would suggest either you get a whistle or attend something besides a football game on Fri night.  You also have no clue as to the workouts either.  There are only circuits on Wed, Bobcat builders, and that is only after football season is over and the other sports start.  Tues the kids run 8 200's, have done it for 3 years.  The other 3 days for FB is getting ready for the game, he said so himself.  The other sports do not and have not had that.  Sat is a tape/workout day which consists of 50% of the weight that they would normally do. You my friend have drank the Kool Aid and I realize no one will ever convince you otherwise but you are also very misinformed of what really goes on.  BTW, how many coaches did you say to support him?
You my friend are misconstruing the facts. The other Coaches aren't disallowed to do their own workouts. Seems to me that they just aren't willing to put in the time to do them. But what I am having trouble understanding is what is so wrong with Huck's workouts anyways? In what sports would it not be beneficial to use your core muscles? (Which is what Huck's workouts mainly target) If you want some basketball type workout for example, why isn't the basketball coach setting aside 20 minutes or so after practice to do box jumps or calf raises or something?
 14.
Did you know that the last time that we made playoffs in football, basketball and baseball ther was a common denominator?  They all had a separate class where they could work on skill developoment and off season lifting.  It absolutely killed the program I guess becasue since that time footbal has not made the playoff and the other sports have in spite of this.  the coach wasRandy Theriot.  BTW are the other coaches up just pieces of crap?  Since it appears that only one coach can cary the moral compass then lets just fire them all and let him run all of the programs including the girls.  If the compass is that good then we should use him for everything that we can get out of such a wise man.  I mean he was even able to get the kids to pull sleds the day after burying 3 of their classmates.  That is some great motivation, don't mind the fact that they are 17 years old.  Also, while I am at it, thank God it was a bye week too or else it would have gotten in the way as well.  I mean who doesn't want someone leading their program when they make a comment to a reporter that he had a football game to worry about not these distractions.  I would never want to get in the way of that by any means.  And btw, I didn't vote for him the previous year for the simple fact that as a football coach he does get the most out of his fb players on offense but what about the other side of the ball?  It's great that we can beat Buna, HJ, EC but it is a mute point if you can't step up and beat the other big 3 and get the playoffs.  How did we fare against them?  So what I can say is that the way to save money since no other kid can learn anything from anyother coach is just let him run the entire program.  I would be anxious to see the girls program after that.  They could probably win state.  I'm sure that the track teams will improve greatly under his tutilage as well.  The other thing as a parent who had one of "those kids" as you all like to call them another coach up ther was involved in trying to help by meeting with them on a regular basis.  The Moral compass walked around with note cards looking for ways to get them out of the program.  That's great mentoring.  And since all the little hucksters can't wait to play there maybe the moral compass could repond to the 30 emails that were sent asking for him to maybe say a few words to those kids.  That's right, can't do anything else during football season and beach house calls the rest of the time.  I wish our kids great luck during this upcoming year.  I have no doubt that we have the greatest all around coach to accomplish all of this and anything else that he is certatinly asked to do.  Btw, maybe this time if he applies last minute for a job and then gets caught in the open records act and is notified he is not getting the job the compass will not tell the kids he is not sure how his name appeared on the list in the first place.  Guess someone filled out the application for him and sent it in.  Thats the strangest thing that it could happen like that but if anyone could pull it off I am sure that it could be him.If anyone else would like reals reasons as to why I have no voted for the Huck you can pm me and I will certainly tell you more.  I have been at the meetings, listed to the complaints, and I am quite finished listening to the whole thing.  I just hope that the next time that a budget issue such as cutting the elementary music progam or raising taxes that we can becasue of a budget deficit wee can that same support for the teacheers that were affected.  My term is up in 3 years so I would welcome you to run.  Or maybe we can get him to run that as well since he seems to be able to do the rest.
You act like Coach Huck had no compassion and didn't feel for the kids suffering a loss, hell even his own two sons were affected by the loss so don't for a second think that he completely ignored the situation and acted like nothing happened. You my friend are sick to think that and to portray Huck in such a way.  You are forgetting that there is a Defensive Coordinator that runs the other side of the ball. But since you know so much about Coaching and how the system works you know that already. When something isn't getting done the way Huck wants it done then yes he is going to step in and make some changes. It sickens me to sit here and listen to you misconstrue Coach Huck's actions and words. Sounds like you are mad that more people see Coach Huck for who he really is and got the yay instead of the nay.
 15.
If you took what I had to say as myself, or anyone for that matter want a coach that allows disrespectful, partying kids, then that is sad.  I was talking in general terms.  There is absolutely no way that any coach or teacher had any blame in what happened with the boys, could have happened to any kids.  I was merely making the point that coaches/teachers have a unique opportunity to influence kids, and the more that are in the program the better.  Before you get to talking about ignorant statements it would be wise to find out the true meaning of what is meant.  I think you will find that I said, I am supportive of Huck or any coach that reaches out to kids to support them in their endeavors.  I want to be supportive of ALL KIDS, no matter if they are playing football, basketball, or the kids that don't play sports at all and their thing is debate.
You made it sound as if the kids who didn't want to let coach down were in the wrong, and that the others should be let off the hook because they are just kids. Sorry if I did not get "the meaning of what is meant." LOL. But here you go contradicting yourself again, it's not the discipline its the way he runs his program, it's not the way he runs his program it's the lack of compassion for the kids, it's not the lack of compassion for the kids it's the lack of support for other sports. Here's a news flash, Huck is the athletic director, and head football coach. He obviously is going to put much of his time into the football team, because he is the head football coach. As an athletic director, much of his duties are administrative. Yall act like he didn't give the Coaches a choice to run their own weight and conditioning program. When he received complaints of the basketball team, (from a very significant board member I might add) he instilled a workout program for all athletes because some of the other coaches weren't willing to put in the time and effort into developing their own program for their sport. So Huck took over and developed a generic workout program. And for whoever said that football doesn't workout during season is full of bologna. I can promise you they get 4 weight/conditioning workouts a week. Mondays they do circuit weights after practice, Tuesdays they push the sled up and down the field until they vomit, Wednesdays they do core weights, and Saturdays they get up to the field house at 8 in the morning to watch film and then do circuit weights PLUS running. So don't tell me they aren't putting in work like the other sports do.
