1.
The problem is not with football or any other sport.  Based on your screen name i assume that you are a football guy.  You prob know everything there is to know about it. I don't even pretend to know about it But I would also say that you prob do not know about the other round ball.  For example would you use jump soles for your lineman work out?  Prob dont know what they are, most fb guys don't.  They help you with your jumping.  Do lineman need to jump, no they do not.  Most FB kids who come in after the season are in no shape to play basketball, why you ask, because there is not as much running.  Why, because different workout.  You hear of basketball players becoming tight ends in college and pro.  How many football guys become basketball guys? Just look at our court this year. As far as UIL this hour is included in the practice time.  The UIL also says that during off season that a kid may not be required to workout on a game day either varsity or subvarsity.  Did we do it during fb season, no we did not.  As a matter of fact we didnt do it day before either.  Did we during basketball and and baseball, yes we are.  The point of all of this is that I support all sports, not just the ones that my kids play.  Sometimes we succeed in spite of ourselves.  The taxing part, when was the last time you ran up and down a floor for 40 mins?  Been a long time for me but I still remember it just as I am sure you remember the last hit you took on a football field.  No comparison, both hurt and make you remember it. I applaud your passoin for your sport but I can have mine too.  Thats the great part of being a bobcat, we should all want the best for all of our athletes.
True football is my favorite sport, but I also played basketball and football too. And actually YES you would use jump soles for a lineman! I do know what jump soles are, they increase your verticle, ankle strength, and injury recovery dramatically. They also make you faster. For a lineman you definitely want all of those. Shows your knowledge of what type of workouts go for what sport. Also the offseason kids run 200's during the offseason right? So why aren't they in shape for basketball? Maybe they aren't running hard enough. As for the part about taxation on your body, honestly it is completely ridiculous to compare a football game to 40 minutes of cardio. I support all sports which is why I am here defending coach Huck because since he has been at OF all of our sports have IMPROVED! His system is working. You cannot argue the facts buddy!
 2. Hahaha woww it is a common practice to life more in offseason to build strength that you can utilize during season. I actually LOL'd at that comment. And basically that is what Huck does, he makes a generic workout program for everybody. Also I caught wind that some schoolboard members were complaining that the basketball program was being to soft and lenient on the kids, maybe thats why Huck wants them all to workout together so he can make sure that at least for one part of the day he can implement his discipline to all athletes alike.
 3.
Answer this question.  What would be so bad with letting the sport that is in season work on their sport during the athletic period?  They could still lift.  They would just do it when the HEAD coach of that sport wanted to.  Is that some sort of crime.  I believe that is what most other 3A schools do.
When do you want them to lift? 6 am in the morning? Oh noooo that would be like "punishment" to the kids that played basketball and baseball. Coach Huck has given that opportunity. I know the baseball team did it in 2010 when they made a run in the playoffs. No system is going to be perfect, someone will always want something more.
 4.
I totally agree on the discipline which is what is getting missed.  I have coached kids for 20 years and no one will ever say that I am against it.  My point is your kid didnt practice kickball to get to better @ basketball and if they would have been practicing it during your athletic time I am sure that alot of people would have been upset back in in the old glory years.  I have said in an open forum that I think he is a good fb coach, attend the games support the kids.  So when people get on her and talk about something they have no clue about it is a different story.  I never disagreed with any punishment nor did I not support it.
Kids that don't play football don't practice football sir. That is not what is going on here don't misconstrue the facts. If you are mad that football is a more taxing sport and requires more prep time than other sports then you just have a problem with football. If you are mad that workouts are supposedly taking away practice time from other sports then you are wrong, UIL gives a set amount of hours that can be practiced throughout the week, workouts during the period do not count towards that to my knowledge. So if that's your problem then grieve with the coach of that sport. Nobody is being punished for being in multiple sports, nobody is being punished for not playing football. Coach Huck has the BEST intentions for every athlete and every sport at OF. Is his system not working? Has EVERY sport not improved since he has implemented his system?
 5. Well it seems that a problem is many are confusing "punishment" with make up. Punishment is issued when there are disciplinary problems that need to be taken care of. Make up is issued when one has missed out on work.
 6.
Here is exactly the way the workouts are since you are interested. During FB season- Mon-Weight workout-No max Tues-Speed workout- run 200's Wed-Bobcat Buiilders Thurs-Game prep-Off season kids weight workout Fri-Game Day No make up days After FB Season Basketball- Mon-Max on all weights Tues game day/Must make up work out missed Wed-Bobcat builders/weight workout makeup- no practice Thurs- Weight workout Fri-game day-Subvarsity workout Baseball- same as basketball The reason- It takes much more prep time for a football game than a basketball or baseball game.  So the basic arguement here is that it is not football so it can't be as hard.  Talk to any successfull baseball or basketball coach and ask if it is the same kind of workout for any sport.
If a workout is missed during football season you DO have to make it up. Also I believe you are wrong on the bobcat builder day they do have practice afterwards. So what you are saying is that you are mad because football doesn't play on Tuesday which means they don't have to make up a workout, while basketball and baseball do. Ask any successful football coach, or anyone that has played the sports, football is much more taxing on your body than baseball or basketball is... So the workouts are modified according to which sport is in season. Not sure where the problem is.
 7. If you are referring to pulling sleds as a football workout YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING. Please tell me you are talking about something else. Even if you are talking about something else, I don't believe there is such thing as a "football workout." All the muscles used throughout his workouts pertain to most every sport.
 8.
It has nothing to do with what happened last year.  Catfever has hit the nail on the head.  You say do what's best for the kids? Why "punish" a kid for being involved in multiple sports? I know for a fact a baseball player this year, missed an offseason workout to attend a golf tournment.  When he got back, he had to make up his offseason workout because he was involved in another sport before he was allowed to play in the baseball game.  How is that doing what's best for the kid? Huck is an outstanding football coach, he has gotten more out of those kids in the last 3 years than anyone else, but do what's right by the kids and let them participate in other sports without the insanity of having to make up an offseason workout. Just my 2 cents and opinion.
Ha, nothing to do with what happened last year. Let's pretend that is true. Look at it this way, if a kid misses school for a UIL meet, is he dismissed from all the schoolwork that was handed out that day? "But but but my kid was at another academic even all day why does he have to do the work he missed?" Come on folks. It's not punishment, it's MAKE UP.
 9.
Everyone on the school board loved Coach Huckabay and everything was GREAT until it was their children that got caught. HMM.
Thats how it seems to me and to many others. I do know the whole story, the whole truth, unbiased, and it seems that accountability is becoming an issue with parents and athletes alike. He has had the same rules and treated every athlete the same since day 1 no matter what their last name is. If they fire Coach Huck they will be losing a blessing to the kids and the community.
 10.
I am also curious on the selection process. I spoke with several HJ players this past weekend. They said that several of the boys chosen never played, or played very little, the positions in which they made all-district. They also said that one of their players led the district in total tackles for 9 weeks but yet was never mentioned. If true, how does this work?
When your offense can't keep a drive and your defense ends up playing most of the game, personal defensive stats begin to get padded.
 11.
He is my ANSWER, there were (4) 21-3a coaches conspired against my son with the BC head coach being the spokes person.  Here is his quote paraphrased which was stated in the meeting, "He plays too much after the whistle." I use the word conspired because what I've been told it seemed the coaches actions were predetermined. FACT, my son has committed 3 personal fouls in his entire varsity career, no ejections nor has he ever been involved in a on the field fight.  I will end by saying this, " people who live in glass house should not throw rocks."  I say this because the ones who judged my son are not perfect by no means. I am an active teacher and retired coach for the past 25 years.  I personally know and talk to several of the folks who were responsible for this outcome. Not once have I ever been told by any of them that my son plays dirty. Everything stated here was passed on to me by someone who was in the meeting, therefore, this information is not hear say.  Check your sources Mike, I am sure you will find my story to accurate ,if not, then I was misinformed.
There are situations where you can get by with lots of dirty play in football. This may not get penalized, however it is looked down upon much of the time, and it is definitely picked up on by coaches who feel that character is a big part of the game. And of course nobody told you he played dirty, would you approach another kids father to rat on the son for something like that? And one more, lets be real would coaches really be so immature as to conspire or plot against a kid? They have better things to do with their time.
 12. WOS 21-14 in a dog fight. Lets go Orange county!
 13.
The wos pass defense is still GREAT!! haha The only reason HF scored on a deep pass play is because our corner went for the pick instead of knocking the pass down. But if he would have made the pick then everyone would praise him so im not going to hate on him for trying to make a play!
I hope they are working on their passing D since OF is a 90% running team.
 14. Good job to Silsbee coming in to save the upset. Great job to Huckabay and the Bobcats for proving once again that hard work, effort, and discipline pays off.

It's a fun experience everyone should have.... Well fun for the tiger fans anyways lol.
LOL no one wants to really come to that nasty back wood town but i guess we will to support our team but might sit in the truck to try to avoid all the trash, have a nice night at the game :)
Note to self.....look for man in cut off bluejeans, work boots, wearing an old ripped up grease stained "I Heart Orangefield" shirt that is so short that his beer belly shows....sitting in a rusty 3/4 ton truck that has an oil puddle the size of the Valdez under it.  Drinking a schlitzs.........crying over the big team loss. Have the football team push start his truck so he can leave. ;D
For the Orangefield fans, look across the stands for a rather small individual with littleman syndrome, possibly knocking others because it makes him feel better about his subpar life.

IMO every team should have this mindset. They overlook all the trash talk and go out on the field and take care of business. I saw an earlier post that was correct as well about Huckabay looking at the bigger picture. He is not just coaching football here, he is turning boys into young men. Teaching responsibility, effort, and pride. His motto is "Do whats right, do your best, and do it with Bobcat pride!" He plays no favorites, and he bends the rules for nobody. He holds every player responsible no matter what. This has caused him some problems for those who can't handle that old school method of coaching and think players shouldn't be held accountable for their actions. Many coaches overlook this now a days and look more towards getting another W under their belt. That being said, go Cats!
Good. Now...fear the horn! ;D
Mad cause they play with class? Or is it the fact that they put up more points against Jasper? I assure you those young men don't get scared. But don't forget that Jasper looked better too, when OF lined up against them it looked like they had suited out OF's JH, yet they win. Now for the fun part....Stop being Sobbing Sammys!  :'( :'(  Get off your high horse or your conseling couch.  Stop shaving your chest and arms, and join in on a little lighthearted ribbing. Its Football...football is a game that everyone can have fun.....  Players, Coaches, Fans, Parents. I wasnt talking to your kids earlier and I knew I wasnt.  Fear the Horn!.....man I didnt know it would make grown men cry.  I wish I had been talking to the football players......at least they wouldnt have to go to counseling over it. The part about the trash talking, doesn't bother me at all, and I can almost guarantee you couldn't make me cry. Not only between the players but the fans too? I bet you are also the best coach in the stands too huh? And who said OF was even my team? I will make you feel better.  Dont listen the mean n nasty bullys that say Fear the Horn.  They dont know how great and kind you are. I know it is you against the world and everything they say is "hatin".  They dont know the kind and gentle...you.  The person everyone likes and truly admires.          Want a cookie?
Haha yeah man when I came on here to defend a team that I am not a part of it was because the trash talking hurt my feelings. I was feeling so sorry for myself and felt so small that I shed a few tears. Tragic story. But really what you have most a problem with is that I came and defended OF against the precious Silsbee Tigers, and I guess you feel like asking for a little respect and class shows weakness since you feel like I am crying about something.
