UH renovations start this month.

The U of H renovations to the north endzone at Roberston is set to cost $38.7million:

Top of 7th 9-3 SHSU

As an employer in the high-tech industry...bad idea. You major in Accounting, then that's what you're limiting yourself to fresh out of college in this current market. I'd look at a GS grad over an Accounting major. Great degree if you want to be a CPA or work in an accounting department. GS shows that they've at least taken courses in a variety of subjects and are generally open to learning something other than a Business related degree. If you send them the Accounting direction, make sure they have a minor in something else... Computer Science, Engineering, something.

Lamar still has General Studies. It is part of the Distance Learning program. It is geared towards students that already have careers and want to finish a degree...very similar to Applied Arts & Sciences. However, many athletes go the General Studies route because they do not physically have to attend classes. They can take the majority of their classes online, anytime, anywhere. A huge benefit for Baseball and Basketball players when you spend most if not all of your time on the road. From the LU website: The Bachelor of General Studies degree can provide opportunity for an individual to construct a personal curricular plan, i.e., to take courses in more than one area of interest, resulting in a broadbased program of study. Additionally, the Bachelor of General Studies is designed for those students who have already established careers and who wish to earn credit toward a degree while learning for the pleasure of learning.

Looks like the old Beaumont Convention Center inside. :-\

Interesting since the Fox Affiliate in Lake Charles picked up the SLC Network. I had expected the same in Beaumont rather than KFDM. Cool.

Here are some recent enrollment figures: Lamar Beaumont - 14,000 (10500 campus + 3500 online masters program) Lamar State College Orange - 2,143 Lamar State College PA - 2,530 Lamar Institute of Technology - 2,711 If Lamar University had not split into these 4 separate institutions, the current enrollment would be close to 21,400 as of today. Hope this explains some of the variations over the years.

Until recently I'd put SFA in that category too.

No they should not be paying fees to the main campus. They are now completely separate entities from Lamar University. They have their own athletic programs, etc. Unless they take courses at LU they pay no fees to Beaumont. Attending Lamar State College is no different than attending SHSU, SFA, San Jac, or Angelina College. Lamar University - Beaumont - Cardinals (Southland Conference) Lamar State College - Port Arthur - Seahawks (Metro Athletic Conference) Lamar State College Orange (LSCO)

Part of the reason the enrollment appears to have dropped is not so much the economy but the result of Lamar moving into the TSUS. Enrollment prior to TSUS included Lamar-Beaumont, LIT, Lamar-Port Arthur, and Lamar-Orange. After the TSUS broke up the Lamar System the enrollment figures no longer include the campuses at LIT, Orange, and Port Arthur.

That makes it even more difficult to be patient! ;D

Excellent article. I'm glad to see some of the details on recruiting procedures being laid out for those of us who haven't followed FCS at this level since the 80's.
