1.
Predictions?? 1. Newton (10-0)(7-0): -An obvious choice for the top spot in this district. They have the speed and coaching to make another serious run to the state championship. And having a 4-star running back in Kevin Shorter, that is being recruited by the entire SEC, doesn't hurt either. 2. EC (8-2)(6-1): -Had a young squad last year. They return several starters and I see them beating Kirbyville out for the second spot. Even with the loss of Glenn Roberts, this team still has alot of speed and size returning. 3. Kirbyville (7-3)(4-3): -Kville lost alot of talent on offense this year, but will returning alot of young talent on defense. I could see them falling as low as fifth in this district if they can't get their offense straight. 4. Woodville (6-4)(4-3): -Woodville also lost alot of talent to graduation this past year. But they are returning several starters on offense and defense, including multiple all-district picks from last year. The losses in the backfield have been accounted for. And the return of senior Phillip Noble to the Eagles backfield should prove to be beneficial to them this year. Overall, the Eagles will be in a rebuilding year, but they have a chance to make some noise in this district. I see them being as high as third and as low as fifth in this district. 5. Kountze (6-4)(3-4): -Kountze returns a boatload of talent this year. They are returning alot of sore and size on the offensive side of the ball. The key for them is discipline on both sides. If they get that taken care, they could rise as high as third. If they don't, I see them staying right here in that fifth spot. 6. Anahuac (4-6)(2-5): -Anahuac will, yet again, be down from the usual playoff contender we've been missing the pad few years. They return some speed, but very little size and experience. If the coaching is there, this team could have an opportunity to ruin playoff chances for one of the top teams in this district.  7. Warren (4-6)(1-6): -After an exceptional year last year, the Warriors will be down this year. Losing your quarterback, receiving corp, starting tightend, and several lineman doesn't improve your team. Although I have been very impressed with the coaching change in Warren. They have a rebuilding year this year, and I believe they will make alot of noise here in the next couple of years. 8. Hardin (2-8)(0-7): -I don't see much chance of improvement from Hardin. The kids work hard an play harder, but I just simply don't see the talent there. Coach Fortune will do what he can to improve an rebuild this program to be successful as soon as possible. But I don't see it happening this year, unfortunately.
Great post eagleswoodville#1, it could very easily fall just like you stated, I have it like this: 1. Newton 2. Kirbyville / East Chambers 4. Kountze / Woodville 6. Anahuac 7. Warren 8. Hardin
 2. I hope they have as much fun on the field as we do in the stands watching them. Great bunch of kids on a mission!
 3.
I personally think Newton is the only rock solid pick...I think EC is likely in the two spot but after that I think there is a lot to be decided and we wont know till its go time!
I was wondering if I was the only one having trouble picking a top four.
 4. I got my copy of FNF and a few things confused me. They said Kirbyville lost Justin Artis but has Wesley Smith returning (both from Anahuac). Also Glenn Roberts will be returning for East Chambers having rushed for 1000 yards last year. :o I think I would have remembered a Glenn Roberts duo last year. I guess when you cover all teams in Texas its ok to get mixed up a little bit. There was another thread going but it got lost in the crash. How does everyone else see this district playing out? 1. Newton 2. Kirbyville / East Chambers 4. Anahuac / Kountze / Woodville 7. Warren 8. Hardin
 5. I think Teague will win their district, so if the Lions and Eagles were to meet up again it will be deeper than the second round.
 6.
I'm plannin on watching a few Newton games ;)
Come on over to East Chambers when we play them liltex, not very far from Dayton. Your purple will blend in well!  ;D
 7. Scratch that on filling the LB spot,  I see Casey is coming back. I thought he was a senior last year. He is a manchild back there!
 8. How bout it E.C. fans? I know y'all got someone to fill Roberts shoes in the backfield and y'alls Linebacker. How are things looking for the Bucs this season? Let's get a little district football talk going.
 9.
I bet Refugio chokes again  ;)
I'm not sure that I would call Refugio choking out last year, that East Bernard team was pretty darn good. As far as Newton goes, I'm with ChampionEagles. The rankings are nice to see the respect, but we got to deliver. If anyone can though its the Newton Eagles! Let's get this party started!
 10.

Reverse of last year...less long travel...  :)
All the key games are in Winnie.  ;)
Y'all feel home field will make a difference? :D ;)
 11. Congrats on a great season Eagles! Just wasn't our night. Congrats to the Yoemen, never quit from being behind early.
 12.
Newton folks will gather at 1:30pm to give the football boys a sendoff as they pass through town. Also two other neighbors will participate with Jasper doing it at 1:45 along highway 190 and Woodville doing it at 2:15 also along Highway 190!! What great neighbors we have! Go Eagles!! :)
One of the best posts i've read in a while! Thanks for the support from all! It's SETX vs the rest of the state!
 13. I'm glad that games go to overtime these days. I would much rather the game be decided by the score, not by stats. That footage was tough to watch. Newton definitely had the momentum late, down 21-0 at one point, but I think that Yoe could have scored at the end had the coach let them. Man what a matchup, two great programs with the history to go with it!!!
 14.

A highly overrated Newton is going to get rolled big time!  :P Yoe -    42 Newton - 7
This is a pretty funny statement, but was wondering exactly what criteria was used to arrive at this conclusion. I think there may be 13 teams that have a little different opinion than this. Just saying...... 8)
Newton has played nothing but chumps. They are beyond overrated and will finally meet their match in the biggest upset in thus far. They go in with the big head and come out with the big L in this one...
Will you be back on here after the game admitting you were wrong? I doubt it.
 15.
Hey, ChampionEagles, what did I tell you?  Go get 'em, Newton!
;D
 16.
knows2much must be a turf salesman! :o
+1    ;D 10 minutes of my life I will never get back from reading this thread.
 17. Last 3 games, Newton has had a very large crowd. I know many aren't from Newton, just there to support or see a good team but a lot of people were wearing purple!
 18. Newton definitely has the team to avenge the 2010 loss, should be a great game!
