The coach has always said "A win is a win, whether it's by one point, or fifty points." That being said, I believe that he is more concerned about letting everyone play if he can, than he is concerned with winning by the most possible points. (More points for the opposition makes the Cats look easier to beat on paper than they really are too. That leads some teams to believe that they have more of a chance to win than they actually do ;)) I do think that for next game we'll have the first string out there the entire game. Unless...for some odd reason... we have a HUGE lead and it's late in the fourth. (Even I don't think that will happen against dawson) THEEEEN they may play 2nd or 3rd string and risk giving up a few points. 8)
I think getting your backups in(especially in the playoffs) is great for continuing your consistency as a winning program. This is valuable experiece that will carry over to next season. Not all teams can do this even for one game. It's starters all the way. As for your defense, I just saw them play. They held us to 17 in the first half and shut us down in the second. I was impressed with how well they adjusted. And yes, I looked at all your games and most of the points given up were with the game in hand and the starters resting. I still think though, that the Dawson game will come down to who has the ball last.JMO.
I agree with everything you said, and I think it will be a nail biter also. I think our guys are fired up and ready though!
I'm in Port Lavaca right now working but I am off Saturday. Don't be surprised if you see some black and gold mixed in with that purple.
 2.
I was at the Vidor game supporting them. Would be awesome to see some Black and Gold at our game Friday. There were so many people there, we couldn't even go to the bathroom. lol. It was crazy. The stands were completely full, but yet the line for the concession stand was 400 people long at the same time. If anything, just bring the people that were waiting in line for nachos, that will give us about an extra 2000 people. LOL.
I'll be their wearing black and gold. What's the seating capacity for that stadium(not that I will be sitting)

Montana only had 500 yards less rushing, threw for 200+ yards, led his team three rounds deep into the playoffs and even punted the ball on occasion and was only the Defensive MVP of 20-4A (let's not forget he was also starting linebacker)? I'm sorry, is something wrong with my math? Not taking anything away from Beaumont Ozen but they needed Mr. Quirante's heroics to even get into the playoffs. Sorry if I sound a little jaded but I just don't think Jakobi deserves it over Montana. Trey Green was a bigger leader for the Panthers. BTW, I don't have any children that play for the Pirates....I just think Montana had a stellar year and should have been rewarded.
You refering to Vidor vs Livingston?
Partly vs. Livingston, partly because Montana was stellar ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. The MVP award should be not only about who did the most for their particular team but also who stood out of the crowd in district. Here's a good question to consider in your selection: who would you pick for your team if you are going to build one right now??? Montana played extremely well against every team in district and through the playoffs. Every down. Period.
Hey, I agree, the kid is awesome. Just put that out their so no one would think you were saying Vidor would not have made it without him. You know how some people speed read and misinterperet.
Look, I know this is a sports talk forum and I'm not on here to poor mouth any child. The Pirates would have advanced without Montana and God knows I love every one of those kids. They made our community proud and played their hearts out. They're all MVPs in my book; I have them posted on my office door at work. But, my thoughts are solely about the MVP of the district and not selecting the kid I thought was most representative; if you would pick Jakobi over Montana, put it out there. Montana started both ways every down 100%. MVP. Name the person in this district who did more. It is only my opinion for what that's worth...
As I stated. I agree with you. Only wanted to get that out of the way so no one would misinterperet what you wrote. If I recall, most of the posters have gone with Montana for MVP for quite a while.
I'm sorry, I'm just teed off by the decision. It wasn't the right one, IMO.
Believe me, I know how you feel. Lets just congrat the players on a well played season and good playoff run.

Another dose of one-sided reporting. It seems like the officials would have called the game when this happened. But since they did not the coaches and other participating adults should have been more cautious towards the end of the game and after. IMO I think that EVERYONE would at least agree that sportsmanship was gone at this point and the end of game handshake should have never taken place.
I agree completely with the handshake should not have taken place but that goes along the lines of sportsmanship dont you think?
Yes, but sometimes it's best to walk the opposite direction when the game is over. Example WOS/Columbus. Had the makings for a fight but the coaches prevented it by getting the team off the field when the clock ran out.

Both teams need to be disqualified from there next games. For Ozen that's next years first game and for La Marque that's the game with Manvel. Now that may not happen but its what needs to happen.
that is a great idea....
Not so sure that is a great idea. Seems a bit unfair. Big difference in forfeiting a non district game versus a Regional championship game. But, something needs to be done in some capacity but I don't see anything really happening to either school.
They should've thought about that when they were fighting. Just because one school has more to lose doesn't mean that they shouldn't get the same punishment as the other. That's like saying two kids get in a fight in school and one of them happens to be the star quarterback for the football team. And the usual punishment for fighting is a ticket and suspension but everyone is saying don't suspend them because tonight is the game and we will not be able to play him.
You have obviously never been in a fight. No one thinks, they react to the situation laid upon them. And your comparison is not a good one. Suspending a player vs a whole team, no comparison at all.

This was what was going on frequently during the game by Ozen players. La marque DID not retaliate here as you can see, but its only so much a young teenage will take before he defends himself and his teammates. So dont give me that crap about La marque is classless and Ozen is. smh I'm just glad the kids dont see some of the things you people say, you dont be ashamed of yourselves the way your acting towards these kids.
idk what you saw but what i saw was the LA MARQUE player jacking his jaw and saying god knows what and ozen retaliating.
Here's what I saw, a team that was beat and frustrated and took it to the next level. The Ozen player approached the LM player. That's cut and dry. And if he did say something, so what! be a man and walk away.
 21. Angleton is averaging 56 pts a game and giving up 29 in the playoffs. Dawson is averaging 48 and giving up 22. This one comes down to who has the ball last. I'll take Angleton in a shootout.  56 to 49. Once again, SOMEBODY PLEASE BEAT LAKE TRAVIS! GO CEDAR PARK!LOL

The UIL needs to take action on taunting and do it this off season, make it clear to the ref's this will not be tolerated whether it is towards a player, a coach or the fans.
The UIL needs to take a look at this seasons officiating period.
