Baseball has a higher total attendance over football only because MLB plays 162 games, NFL just 16. I do know this, more people attend high school football games than they do high school baseball games. In fact, more attend high school basketball games than high school baseball in the state of Texas.
hMMM, I wonder why?
Because basketball is played in the AC and Baseball is played in the Texas' heat and humidity.

That's the only way you would get to your misleading 140 million viewers statistic.  More likely, you probably had 20 to 30 million of the same viewers watching the "Series".  Work the numbers all you want, Football is "King" in Southeast Texas!
Does it matter if it was different people? No matter how you look at it there were more sets of eyes watching the WS than watching the SB. BTW the way I nevet claimed the Baseball was more popular than football. I just said that baseball had a higher total attendance and a higher total viewership.
Simply because there are more games played ...Turn the Superbowl into a 7 game series and answer the viewership question again.  Once again, very misleading.  FF, you're comparing apples to oranges... The truth of the matter is that football has both a higher total "per event" attendance AND viewership...and yes, you are right FF, football is more popular too!
Duh!! How am I being misleading? Did I post something that wasn't true? Nope, I just responded to someone who attacked baseball by saying " baseball = the most attended professional sport" and some of you freaked out about. Don't get your panties in a wad football is still king and I never said it wasn't. However more people watch and go to baseball games every year than do football games. That is a fact.

He went from a head coach in 5a to an assistant coach at a mediocre 3a school. Does coach Bellard have family in Liberty or somerhing like that? I have to think there is another reason Bellard came to Liberty other than the fact that Deel used to play and coach under Bellard.
 9. Imo Florida is definitely the most talented team in Omaha( Just like they were last year) so they are the favorite. My dark horse is Arizona, they play solid fundamental baseball and have a very good defense. I don't know if Arizona has enough pitching depth to win the whole thing tho. With that said I will definitely be routing for Stoney Brook this week. They are just to good a story to rout against.

This is a quote from the first link "The 960 square foot video board, paid for by the Junior Olympics". The fact that Humble is facing a budget shortfall has nothing to do with this scoreboard.
 12. I think boxing finally came to the realization that a Mayweather vs Pacquiao super fight probably would not happen. So they try to set up the next best thing an undefeated Mayweather vs an undefeated Bradley who has now beaten Pacquiao. Sure it wont make the 100 million people thought the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight would, but in a year or so after the controversy dies down it would set up the biggest fight we've seen in awhile. Imo the fight was fixed.

The Astros are still years away from being relevant, so they need to rebuild the sorry farm system. I hope it works out.
They do need to rebuild the farm system. Which is why they should've drafted Appel he was the only college pitcher in this draft who projected to have 3 60+ pitches and had the best control of any of the top pitchers. Pay him the extra 1 million he is worth it! Also the article says that Lunhow ran the drafts in St. louis, is that true? Lunhow wasn't the GM in St. louis he was the VP, Houston is his first GM job, and I remember the people on MLB network talking about  how this was Lunhow's first draft he was in charge of. So IDK maybe he ran the draft even though he wasn't the GM.
 16.
I honestly think they took him to sign the rest of their picks. Now they can pay McCullers and hopefully sign at least 10 of their first 11 picks. If they would have picked Appel they might not be able to sign but 7 or 8 picks.
Honestly I would rather have Appel (despite the fact that he is struggling tonight) over Mccullers and Correa. Lets look at what we got by passing on Appel. We got a 17 year old SS that has "Extremely raw hitting ability needs to develop for the rest of his offensive game to be relevant. Very young and inexperienced with a huge gap between present ability and future potential". Then we get a pitcher in Mccullers that throws hard, but has scouts worried about future injures and he goes through spurts were he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Plus Mccullers is a Scott Boras kid that wants top 10 money and has a very strong commitment to Florida, he is considered one of the toughest signs in the draft. We also get a kid in Ruiz who is another high upside high school player represented by Boras and is also considered one of the toughest signs in the draft. Then we get Hunter Virant who might be the best pitcher in this class, but again he is a high upside high school player that is relatively new to pitching, and again is considered one of the toughest sign of the draft. They also draft difficult signs Hinojosa and Traver in the late rounds. So Basically the plan was to save money on the #1 spot and pick up talent throughout the draft, which sounds good, but they drafted some of hardest signs. Virant, Ruiz, and Mccullers all want top 10-15 money. We only saved 2.4 million on the #1 spot, meaning that we will probably only be able to sign 1 of them. The next problem I have with this draft is that all of the talent they drafted in place of Appel is young and unproven. High school kids have a frequently overvalued upside and are the players that are most likely to be a draft bust. College players are less risky and a little more easy to evaluate, mostly because they play better competition and are more mature. If you look at the college arms taken in the early rounds of recent drafts you will see many have risen quickly and been very successful in the majors. David Price, Chris Sale, Strasburg, Mike Leak, Drew Storen, Aaron Crow, and Mike Minor are just a few of the college pitchers taken in the first round the last 3 years that are already contributing in the Marjors. Then you have Trevor Bauer, Gerrit Cole, and Danny Hultzen who were drafted last year and are doing excellent in the minors. Mark Appel would've likely joined this group and been a dominate front of the rotation guy for Astros. I once had a scout tell me that every draft a team is hoping to find 2 future starters. Fact is that the majority of the players that are drafted will never see the majors. So I have a hard time understanding why they would pass up Appel who is as close to a sure thing as you're going to find in a draft, for a buch of high upside high schoolers who may or may not workout. The thing that makes me mad the most is that the Astros didn't even offer Appel slot money. They only offered him 6 million and he turned it down. Which is understandable, because they were shorting him 1.2 million :o.

He is a solid all around ball player with good defensive skills that can play almost anywhere on the field. He doesn't have any skills that jump off the charts, but he is above average in everything except speed. Most scouts think he will be major league ready pretty fast. Brady Rodgers is another guy that doesn't have anything that jumps out at you. His fastball sits around 90-91, but he has good command of 4 pitches and can throw all  of them for strikes in any count. He actually knows how to pitch, but his celling isn't as high as other players that were still available. Rodgers is another guy that scouts think could be major league ready pretty quick. Both these guys have a high baseball IQ and love the game. They're the kind of players that love to compete and will give you everything they have. Imo they are solid picks.

His draft history is outstanding. I have no reason to doubt him at this point. I guess the question is which would you rather have in 5 years? A very good 22 year old deffensive SS who hits around .300 and 25+ HRs or possibly a very good deffensive 3B who hits .300 and 35+HRs (if he fills out) or A #1 starter that goes every 5th day. I would rather take a flyer on an everyday guy myself. Because we all know that the MLB draft is a crapshoot.
Well lets say Correa becomes what people think he will, which player do you think will actually stay with the Astros? The early 20s SS who draws comparisons to A-Rod, or the #1 pitcher who grew up in Houston and who's favorite team is the Astros. Fact is that Correa becomes what he is projected to be, he will probably not be with the Astros when he hits his prime. Appel has a much higher chance of staying in Houston for a long time.
Appel is a Scott Borras client...Enough Said!!!! I have a sneaky feeling that Appel will be back in the draft in 2013! And it is quite possible the Astros will have the top pick again! Read that he refussed to do a Conference call with the Pirates last night.  RED FLAG!
Actually he refused an interview with the Pittsburgh media, which is understandable. Appel was probably at a draft party with friends and family I wouldn't want to give an interview that night either, especially after sliding. It is better to say no to an interview than to say something stupid that you will regret in the mourning. Appel may go back to college now. If he was drafted #1 he probably would've signed. There were rumors that Appel would not sign for slot, but nobody knew for sure. The Astros were just being cheap AGAIN they took the player that said he would sign for under slot. The Astros just aren't willing to spend money unless you're a past your prime 30 year old like Carlos Lee. The only way I will be happy with the Correa pick is if they are able to sign Mccullers with the money they saved by passing on Appel. I doubt they sign Muccllers tho everyone thinks he is the toughest sign of the draft, because of his commitment to college and who his advisor is.
