2. I've read on here all the hate & the "aau all-star" team stuff.

Several years ago when Ozen almost beat them in the Regional semis then Wheatley beat them in the finals, most of these kids were sophomores except for Anthony Jones and a few others...but no one said anything about them then. 2 years later, those same kids are on an all-star team.
3. H-J vs. Cleveland
If it comes down to coaching, then H-J takes it. If they can weather the scoring runs and hang around until the 4th, then H-J wins. Cleveland wins via blowout, not close games! Most in Reg III say Cleveland won't lose. I heard that about the Colts too.

WO-S vs. Silsbee
If Silsbee overlooks them, it will be a different outcome.

The last time WO-S made it this far it was 2005-06 when Doug McCarter's Stangs defeated Silsbee in this very round, 62-56, then went on to defeat Madisonville & Coldspring before losing to Carrollton Ranchview in Austin in the state semi's.

Will be interesting to see if WO-S attacks the big guys or stays outside.

Ktz vs. New Waverly
I think NW has been waiting all season for this...Not Ktz. NW has been No. 1 and they have had to hear about Ktz, despite being the top team. I've seen both several time. I think Kountze is better. Ktz grew up alot beating Silsbee, not just by the win, but the way they won with Devin on the bench with fouls and coming from behind in the 2nd half.

Whoever wins is going to play either Arp or Daingerfield, which are both very athletic.

Anahuac vs. Centerville
I think Anahuac wins this UNLESS they shoot too many from the outside. An 11-pt win over Houston Yes Prep South whatever was not impressing to me. Anahuac to Region tournament....1st time ever?

Spurger vs. Somerville
Spurger is banged up pretty good. They aren't missing starters, but some of the starters are playing hurt. Spurger is the better team but do they fight through the pain well enough to win?

4. Underestimated? Come on now.

My gut (which is rather big these days) tells me H-J will upset Cleveland. Friends from around Region III (especially in H-town) say there is no way Cleveland loses this game. If H-J hangs around, then it's there for the taking.
5. From Jim Hicks:

I spoke with F'wood head coach Darren Chandler and he basically analogized the two teams (Yates/La Marque) as comparing Hurricane Katrina to Ike.  "Yates is definitely better, and I love (LaMarque head coach) Cedric (Mason) to death, but Yates is at least twenty points better. I've been around here for a while, and this team is probably the best ever of any classification".   Friendswood was within 13-12 before Yates ended the opening period with a 13-0 spurt, and never looked back.  "I noticed when they played Seven Lakes that you can play with 'em for a while, then they go off on those big runs, and it's very hard to put together multiple runs against them".   Chandler was also very impressed with the Yates players upon seeing them first hand.  "On top of playing extremely hard, they didn't talk a lot of trash or do any taunting - they were really a classy bunch."
