1. Can't believe we haven't heard from beeninikes on this one! If Orangefield loses to Sabine Pass, it's time for some soul-searching in Bobcat Country!
2. Short...drop the Dickie V subject please. Let's not revist that mess. Cat...I have no clue....Still waiting to hear a response from BISD. I assume he would tomorrow.
3. He corrected and I corrected the copy & paste! Thanks for the catch!
4. This is from Philip Klein, from setxpollictalreview.com BISD Basketball?    Okay - this is one of those that maybe we should not be covering - but we started to get calls from both the public and parents telling the Review about a situation regarding the coach being let go from the Central High Basketball team. Seemingly - former coach Rice who must have said something to parents while he was off duty and not coaching - got the boot from the big cheese. And that upset some folks. But - and get this one guys - he was replaced by Robert Lee - who has been employed with BISD since (according to the BISD personnel) 1997 as a coach / teacher. Interesting? Right? We mean - like nothing could be wrong with a guy taking over as head coach? Right? Well - hang on to your panties kids. According to sources at BISD that are highly upset - it seems that Coach Lee has some problems. Like - criminal charges? Do what? Did we just say criminal charges? Convicted and teaching our kids? Well - at first thought we said to ourselves - no way. No how. Convicted criminals are not teaching our children - right? As well not head coaching as a leader of kids? Right. And then the dirty little secrets comes out. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety - Coach Robert Lee, AKA Robert James Lee, DOB July 30, 1951, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery in September 1988. He was tried and then found NOT GUILTY of the crime by a jury of his peers. And we said - that is good news for the kids in BISD! Right? Then our screen flashed again - and guess what? Uh oh.... Seemingly - the same person - Robert James Lee, DOB July 30, 1951, was arrested on June 3, 1995, for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon - being a .357 pistol. He was charged, and on May 9, 1996, plead NOLO. He was fined $500 and some other issues. However, there was no adjudication. So we called around a little - and found the PC affidavit. And we went huh? According to officer David Burke, of the Beaumont Police Department, they were dispatched regarding a possible stolen car. They found the car. And guess who was leaning inside of it? Coach Lee? Well as the story goes....Lee was messing with something in the front seat and was asked for his ID. Upon looking under things where Lee was messing - they found a big fat .357 pistol - and that was all? No...they found a baby jar with a brillow pad and some type of straw....being ..... a crack pipe? Huh? And then they arrested him for a warrant for hot checks? Ugh? So we wanted to make sure we had the right guy - because you know a simple background check for this could have shown what was actually going on and if a teacher could be ... well...convicted of a gun charge and drug charges? So we got Lee's SS number and DOB and called BISD for verification of employment. And yes - it is him according to BISD. Now let's Review? We have a long time coach that said something to some muckety mucks that called and complained to Carroll "GOD" Thomas and got the BOOT! And replace him with a convicted criminal that is teaching at BISD? Huh? Are we in dreamland? Wake us up? It makes us want to maybe suggest to the media that it would be nice to have criminal checks done on all employees of BISD and see.....awe no. We don't have time for that. Plus - seemingly the screening process is doing great over at BISD. Maybe another bond? We can trust BISD and Doc Thomas? Right?
5. 20-4A, 19-4A & 22-2A will play a round of district games on Friday. Here are some thoughts... 20-4A Ozen (7-7) @ Nederland (4-9) Word is that shooting machine DeCarlos Frank will return! Central (3-8) @ Vidor (8-7) How does Central handle the shakeup? PN-G (9-2) @ LC-M (10-5) Game of the night in district. PN-G has a juicy record but it's time for the purple & white to back it up. LC-M got hot early then has had some jet lag lately. Lumberton (7-8) @ Livingston (3-9) Raiders are improved and the Lions are way down. A road win for Lumberton could mean they mean business for 1 of those 4 spots. 23-2A Deweyville (7-5) @ 2A No. 4 Kountze (13-2) Ktz has been off since the loss to H-J.....Pirates could be in for a long Friday. East Chambers (5-7) @ Hardin (6-5) EC comes off an emotional loss @ H-J but has to shake it off. Hardin has some decent wins and some ugly losses. Warren (1-6) @ Buna (6-2) Ya'll tell me? 19-4A Barbers Hill (13-3) @ Galena Park GP went 20-13 last year but still couldn't sneak into the playoffs. The Hill missed out on the playoffs and need to have a statement game. Dayton (3-6) @ Kingwood Park KP is predicted to win this district. Crosby (7-7) @ CE King - NL Crosby graduated some studs but are starting to come around.

8. Enough is enough. I really don't care who you are and what you think of me - but this is a complete joke. Do you know other coaches and fans are laughing at Hardin-Jefferson & Kountze? SWAGG: No more bashing refs or coaches or rick james-ing teams. stevenash: quit baiting people and no more "dem" comments. karma: quit baiting. Any others want to get cute, go do it on myspace or something. Hardin-Jefferson beat Kountze twice this season. We are now officially moving on. If this continues you won't have to worry about posting again. This has ruined other boards like Texas Hoops, et al.
9. According to Coach Rice, during the PA Memorial and Westbury Christian game at the YMBL, a young girl asked coach rice if he had ever won a first place trophy. Coach Rice asked the young lady who had sent her over to say that and the girl pointed him out. Rice then went and had words with the guy.
10. Catman....Coach Foster man want to come to beaumont!  ;D
11. BISD has it's positives and negatives, just as each school has. Before replacements can be announced, we have to wait until the season is over.
12. They both wanted the job. Travis applied and interviewed.
13. Glad I was able to break it to you first!!!! BEAUMONT - Beaumont Independent School District Athletic Director Rodney Saveat has appointed Robert Lee to coach  the Central Medical Magnet High School Jaguars Basketball Team for the remainder of the season.  Lee  is handling  the coaching of the team after the veteran boys head basketball coach Calvin Rice was relieved of his duties earlier today. According to Saveat, Rice has been placed on indefinite suspension with pay from employment at BISD.  Saveat declined any further comment about why Rice was suspended, explaining that 'it is a personnel matter not for public discussion.' Rice has been head coach at Central since 2000.  He started work at BISD in 1994 as a teacher at Fehl Elementary and also worked several seasons as a baseball and basketball coach at West Brook High School.  The former Lamar University basketball standout has led the team to the playoffs several seasons.  There are 12 more District games left in the current season. Lee joined BISD in 1977.  The Southwestern University graduate started out as a Vincent Middle School basketball coach and later worked at French as an assistant coach.  He joined the Central Jaguars as an assistant boys basketball coach in 1986.  The Beaumont native is a 1970 graduate of Charlton Pollard High School. "Coach Lee knows the team well and will be able capitalize on their strengths and help them to improve in areas needing attention.  I am confident that he will help the team gain a competitive edge," Saveat said.
14. I'd say decent. Ozen is young but the fans are already restless. The other needs to be replaced.
15. They did want him. Wanted Travis too.
16. Coach Rice will be meeting with BISD supt. Carroll Thomas shortly....Will update after that meeting.
17. Hopefully they will give Frankie Paul a shot.
18. I don't know....maybe through marriage but please don't got there Steve-o.
19. Working on that now AAW.
20. [Hidden Content] Central reassigns boys basketball coach Chad Cooper, Sports Editor - THE EXAMINER Sources close to BISD have confirmed that Central boys head basketball coach Calvin Rice has been reassigned and will be relieved of his head coaching duties. Central lost to West Brook on Tuesday, 54-45, and will open District 20-4A play this Friday at Vidor. Varsity assistant coach Robert Lee will be the interim coach. The Jags were 3-7 this season and have been the only team to hand 3A No. 6 Hardin-Jefferson a loss this season when they beat the Hawks 64-57 at the Fred Williams Classic on Nov. 27. Rice led Central to an 18-12 record last year losing in the bi-district round of the 4A playoffs to Crosby. Rice's head coaching record is 136-99 (.578). Phone calls to BISD administration for comment haven't been returned.
