1. I've seen the Utah state football fans in action first hand and they were without a doubt the rudest most obnoxious people we played against all season. You'll definitely enjoy that little hatefest.
2. I agree with you 100%. When you look at Boise & UConn, they were ESTABLISHED 1-AA programs & handled the jump. Lamar is not established yet. The program is in it's infancy & now people are saying it's time to jump up a notch. It could very well work out in lamar's favor...but i sure would hate it if it didn't.
3. If you can't be a good 1-AA, then what makes you think you'll be a decent/good 1-A? I don't exectly remember the WAC burning up the airways during the regular season. As far as worse schedules go..have you taken the time to look at the schedules of ULl or ULM or UNT? They HAVE to play 2 or 3 body bag games EVERY year for finances. So to answer your question, I'd much rather be McNeese State University and have respect in the 1-AA ranks, win conference championships, make the play-offs, than be laughed at & the butt of jokes just so I can say my school is 1-A. That's the exact mentality that has put ULL in their spot. Do you really want Lamar to follow that model? I think not.
4. THAT'S BEEN MY WHOLE POINT!!!! Finally somebody else sees it.
5. My point was that Lamar was 1-3 against SLC teams this year ( football ). If you cannot do better than that year in & year out, does moving up REALLY help you out or do you just become the UL's reincarnated?
6. "Hopefully Lamar announces their move to the WAC soon because being even being a bottom of the barrel FBS school like UL-Monroe beats staying in the SLC any day of the week. " Even if you can't beat those teams?
7. I don't understand why the NCAA would put the 15K requirement on the schools when they have no intention of enforcing it.
8. Last time i checked it was all about where you finished that counted.
9. I agree, with economics the way they are, it's a win-win for both schools. Either school would be nuts to want to cancel it.
10. Check out these head coaching salaries for the WAC by USA today.  Rumor is that Mark Hudspeth at USL got 350-375K with incentives as well. Following are the WAC coaches' salaries, according to USA Today report: $450,000 — Sonny Dykes, Louisiana Tech; $403,820 — Mike McIntyre, San Jose State; $375,000 — DeWayne Walker, New Mexico State; $354,400 — Gary Andersen, Utah State; $350,000 — Dennis Franchione, Texas State; $263,187 — Robb Ankeny, Idaho; $200,000 — Larry Coker, UTSA. Any ideas on where Coach Woodard would rank here if the jump is made?
11. Looks like a good schedule. I believe that Texas St. & UTSA will NOT count as conference games since they are leaving the conference. I KNOW that they will not be eligible for the play-offs.
12. The xenith rep came here & left a "sample" helmet if you will, tried it on, very light compared to the ridell & schutt helmets, also very pricy...$400.00 per helmet.
13. Same thing with TCU & SMU..TCU will never allow itself to be in the same conference with SMU, don't want people getting the impression that they're on equal ground.
14. I really have a hard time accepting that Northwestern St would be more attractive to the WAC than McNeese St. would be...when was the last timw Northwestern won anything?? be willing to bet Sam Goodwin was still the head coach.
15. Congrats coldsprings & my buddy Blake Morrison, Coldspring DC...way to go!!
16. Hipster, many colleges do not put out info on their recruits..it's common. The main reason that I have been told by more than one college coach is that they may have some sleepers and don't want to draw the attention of other schools by announcing they are being recruited.
17. I'm not an expert on Lamar Football, but did play against them annually in college...don't think they've ever been in. The 1-AA div was started in 1978 with 4 playoff teams...that number increased in 1981 to 8 teams, in 1982 went up to 12 teams and then in 1986 went to 16 teams and just this year was expanded again to 20 teams competing for a REAL national championship.
18. My source tells me that the candidate from GPISD has the inside track for the position.
19. The playoffs are SUPPOSED to be a measuring stick as to how your conference stacks up with the rest...The SLC has not been impressive lately...probably why only one representative from the conference is playing, while other conferences have multiple teams selected.
20. It really hurt them when Montana turned them down.
21. No way Coldspring is a 409 area code...936 I believe.
