100% NOT POSSIBLE....Honestly, it would be MORE believable had he said at Ozen, even though that was not the case either...But LINCOLN? That's laughable...EVERY kid that could walk and chew gum in Port Arthur wanted to play for Lincoln...Recruit for what? Makes no sense at all.
I didn't. And i could walk and chew gum.  ::)
Prove it dickie. Right now its your word against that guys and frankly i'm leaning towards believing him more than you.
Prove it? For what? Nothing to prove....thats just fact...believe whatever you want.
Its not fact until you prove it dickie. i thought even you would know that.  ::)
Has anybody explained yet if Beaumont players are allowed to choose the high school they want to attend and how this is different from Houston schools, even if it is on a slightly smaller scale.
beaumont texas population - 118,296 houston texas population - 2,100,000 yeah thats real slight.  ::)
 8. Dickie wanna make a lil wager with me again? You have my word that this time i won't be "shady" or try and get technical with you this time.
 9. I have not stopped laughing since i've started reading this thread.
 10. If this video makes money then i will shave my head and bleach what hair i have left, dress like a rap artist ,and name myself skittles.
 11. Lebron james is arguable one the best players in the nba today but he can't handle the pressure. [Hidden Content] agree or disagree? arguments?
 12. I know right. 30 k isn't even that much. I bet there are hundreds of thousands of video's from setx that have more hits than that from people in setx.

Of course, at this point, we are ASSUMING that your perspective is 100% accurate and covers all that happened there.  Dicky, I know how much you know your basketball, but I have a strong gut feeling that you may not be in the know on this situation as much as you think you are.  I say that because the Lamar President is a good friend of mine and you would be surprised how different he explains things as compared to how they come out from people in the know.
At Texas Southern? I don't profess to know EVERYTHING about that situation, but Ronnie, just like Greg Wise are close to our family and another mentee of my father, and mentor of mine..I was coaching at Prairie View A&M during that time, so I had a good idea as to what was going on at Texas Southern...we talk! If I am not 100% "in the know", I sure am about 98.9% there... ???....not sure what your president bud has to say, but I know, what I know about that situation.
You always "know what you know".  The problem is that you sincerely believe that your "knowledge" is always superior to that of everyone else and I am sorry, that just isnt the case.  It never has been and never will be and you would be well served to adjust your theory in that respect.  There have been two Lamar coaches that were close personal friends of mine, but I learned over time that the fact that they were good friends did not make them as pure as the wind driven snow.
Apparently I am missing what you are getting at..You asked me about what happened with Coach Courtney since he left Willowridge...I answered...then you say there is MORE? Well, if you KNOW more, why ask ME? ???...I don't understand...another teaching moment, perhaps...I am never beyond that, you know... ;)
That's the understatement of the century.  ;)
 14.

Call it a miniature farm system if you like.  The fact is that in a place like HJ, there is a relatively small population from which to draw potential players and it is one way to get kids interested in the game.  Please don't be foolish enough to try to say/infer that the HJ/Silsbee/HF/Orangefield coach has an advantage on a Yates coach when it comes to selecting potential playing personnel.
The "selection" for the Yates coach begins when they hit the campus in the 9th grade...NOT as elementary aged kids, as it is in some rural areas...Little Dribblers, if ran correctly, gives a high school basketball program a really good advantage...There is no such entity in Houston...Kids can PLAY little dribblers, but the local coaches have NO CLUE as to where these kids live or where they will attend school...its an advantage, Nash...
Come on dickie i know your not that dumb. Are you seriously trying to say that if some kid that is 5'10 and in 7th grade and has been playing basketball since he was 5 he doesn't know which school he's going to? That ridiculous man. And last time i checked the little dribblers basketball program in hj wasn't reserved just for hj kids. Now if i am wrong correct me on it. So technically they don't know which school they will be going to.
 15.

Now with saying that, I can see where Wise's involvement in AAU could lead speculation that he has a way of recruiting through said involvement.  But maybe it just gives these kids and  their parents a chance to see him in action and therefore decide to transfer to Yates.
Bingo! We have a winner! Exactly what BD3 said a few months ago. Not sure where he has gone lately, but he brought this up about another coach. Don't remember who it was, but basically saying that by exposing kids to AAU ball, one recruits others to that program, whether intentionally are not.
EVERY coach can coach AAU...Its used to be against the rules, but that has changed...Its not illegal..I don't like it either, but, thats just the way it is...Its not recruiting, however.
I agree that it's not a traditional way of recruiting, but do you not see how it could be a dress rehearsal for other kids to see? It may not be directly recruiting, but it is a non-traditional form of recruiting, no? When one sees Duke (not comparing anyone  ::) ) on TV, do you think a HS kid might be more influenced to pick that school over another (NC State) who is not on TV as much?
Yes I can agree with that...But, do you realize how many kids are LOST by attending the "suburban" schools? I think it balances out, really...But to say that Coach Wise is recruiting is just wrong...He has made his program attractive by winning, and thats ok...and legal..kinda like being involved in little dribblers...right? ;)
By winning and getting city-wide (heck National) attention, the Yates program indirectly recruits kids to attend their school, just like my example regarding Duke and NC State. Can a Little Dribbler's program indirectly recruit a kid to attend a different school, yes but on a much smaller scale. Little Dribbler's is not getting National coverage anywhere, right? That's what Wise is doing as well. By coaching an AAU team (I know the rules, not his own players), others can see what he's doing and say, "I want to play for Yates". He IS doing that, and it's an indirect method of recruiting, IMO.
That right there is the truth in his opinion. Lets just leave it at that because neither side is gonna let up.
 16. you know you can go edit your post to say not lol. just saying.
 17.
So you blame the success of Nederland on the UIL bracket? So the fact Nederland is beating the people on their schedule and advancing means you have to down-grade a team instead of congratulate them on the achievements? Interesting Concept
I was thinking the same thing.
 18.
oh boy...I will say this dmeat...everyday I ask myself about how much I do or don't know about soccer, seriously, especially during soccer season... as far as the ref comment, please tell me that you don't ref high school boys games and please tell me that you have never called one of my games...if you have that opinion going into a game and state it on a public message board your professionalism would be a subject that I would bring up to Kerry Franks, Mike Stasnios, and Tim McCurley.
Get em newcastle.
 19. If there was no transfer rule yates would suck.  8) Just thought i would jump in on this conversation.  8) yall have fun. Go Pirates!
 20. You have yet to address the whole "20-4A is the worst district in the state" comment. If they were you would think they would've all lost or atleast most of them lost of out the playoffs. That's common sense. And yet you have not said a word about that so i am calling you out dickie. Are you man enough to back the statements you have been making this whole year? or are you gonna ignore me like you have the other people who have asked this question?
