Their team had a bad attitude back then as well although no fights started. Before the game, their players were acting arrogant and actually taunting the fans on our side. After the game and they lost, many of their players and several of their coaches (where the attitude really comes from) refused to shake hands with our players and coaches, opting instead to storm off the field into the field house. I've heard that this bad attitude is the norm and if this is the case, maybe the school district needs to try again in hiring a new head coach.
I'm pretty sure he misinterpereted what the coach ment, which is simply it was a shame that this happened and is overshadowing LM's run for state. Now, if you stay on here long enough, you will notice that VP32 will argue with everyone including others from Vidor. I think he likes stirring the pot and he is good at it. Just the way he is. I was actually a fan of them because they were a school with low numbers that was still competing with the best in the state and winning some but that was until this happened i heard about the Lumberton thing and i actually realized why your numbers were declining. And if a power plant is to blame for the reason your numbers are declining then what about PNG and Nederland. I'm pretty sure that when i was driving towards the PNG game this year that i passed a few plants. Someone correct me if i'm wrong. And we all know PA has some plants and yet they are 5A.

 7.
I have said this before....you base a community's level of support by how many people show up to a week 9 road game at the end of a 1-9 season?  Seriously? HJ excels in many other areas of school related activities.  If you want to see for yourself come look at the list of state champions on the statue in front of the gym....only a few of them are basketball.  I don't list them because I am not here to get into a pissing match about accomplishments. Bottom line, you don't live in the community so you have no idea what the level of support really is.  When you win, people show up...when you don't...they don't and that is true of any sport and any school.
That's funny because i remember when Vidor was 0-10 and 1-9 and We still had 3000+ fans in our stands and going to away games like houston and such. (2 hours away) That's called supporting a program. Which HJ obviously does not know how to do.

The coach has always said "A win is a win, whether it's by one point, or fifty points." That being said, I believe that he is more concerned about letting everyone play if he can, than he is concerned with winning by the most possible points. (More points for the opposition makes the Cats look easier to beat on paper than they really are too. That leads some teams to believe that they have more of a chance to win than they actually do ;)) I do think that for next game we'll have the first string out there the entire game. Unless...for some odd reason... we have a HUGE lead and it's late in the fourth. He's a sophomore.
No problem brother. I understand that many teams have a lot of great players which may not always start.I was just saying that (in general) the starting players wil make less mistakes, that's all. We have a lot of young ones too. Our starting kicker (the really small one) is a freshman with an extensive soccer background. His older brother who graduated last year- same thing. He was starting kicker then.:)
For a freshman he wasn't doing that bad. I know how it is to have rookie kickers in as your starter we went through that last year and brought up Brandon Clayton, a soccer player, and he has done the best that he could ever do.

This is the only sport I know of that truly shows comraderie from every individual on the floor. I've been doing this for a while now and have never seen any altercation between lifters/coaches/parents or anything. Everyone is very helpful and will always be there to lend their best advice. I look forward to seeing many familar faces as we all push our kids to extreme to show them what they are capable of.
Same here. Its definitely gonna be a great year. I love going to powerlifting meets because only true fans and family go and you don't have to deal with kids getting in your way of seeing stuff and you get to see everyone at once.

I still believe
Its all good. I apologize for letting my anger get the best of me. I just don't like it when someone attacks a man that i hold in the highest respect. 17.
Having gone back and read the original "letter to the editor", I saw a lot of similarities to something that I am close too (Mods, will you grant me a little lee way?) While this is high school we are talking about, it very much parallels the college I attended, UTEP.  For years, heck, decades, UTEP was everyone's stomping boy.  We were the doormat, under the doormat.  0-12, 1-11, 2-10 records were the norm.  A good season was considered 3-9. Attendance stank, and every 3-4 years, the chorus went out..."we need a new coach!"  And every 3-4 years, they got one...only to suffer the same fate. A few years ago, we got a coach "in disgrace".  Mike Price had been summarily fired by Alabama, before even coaching a single game.  Seems he was supposedly in Florida with strippers after a golf tourney(a lawsuit later clarified the situation, and he got some big bucks for slander, but I digress).  He took the hapless Miners from losers to bowl games, and his records have been 9-3, 8-4, 4-8, 5-7, 5-7, 6-6, 5-7 since.  He has had the team in 90% of the games they played and lost, and defeated teams like Houston.  However, since the fans got a taste of success in his early years, they think that this is normal, that a team that was always on the wrong end of ugly, should now compete with the likes of SMU, Houston,  and other storied programs.  I am again hearing the chorus of "new coach, new coach", and "bring in a young hungry guy" as the coach.  Like HJ is percieved as a high school, UTEP is also percieved as a college...a basketball school. The problem is, the singers of this chorus of "new coach new coach", want to get a great "champagne" name on a watered down beer budget.  They want first class results at a 5th class price.  I don't know the dynamics of HJ's administration, but reading the letter from the "fan" in the BE, I can see the same type of thinking... How do you get a winning program? 1.  Get out there for the kids...whether it's Pop Warner, junior high, or high school, or college, whether the record is 10- or 0-10, get out there for them.  These kids and young men get out there and take their health in their hands to give you a game.  They get sprains, broken bones, concussions, and other injuries for no pay, for only the chance to hear a cheer from you every once in a while. 2.  Don't think the new guy will be any better...sometimes, he can be worse.  Support the program, and you would be surprised how much the program improves.  If you haven't done anything but complain, and haven't gone to many games, you have no room to talk.  That would be like a player getting to play first string without attending practice.    3.  Get stupid for your hometown team.  The colors, the spirit stickers, whatever.  Let those kids see the community behind them.  Plain and simple, if they see you don't care...why should they? Good luck HJ...in EVERY sport!
And that pretty much sums it up. Great post elhector1
 18. IMO the player who won MVP deserved it. IMO MVP should be the player that proves that there team would not be where they are without that person. Yes I know that Montana Quirante proved to be very important to his team but IMO we could've wen't just as far as we did with the other qb choice.
 19. rumor has it that they closed the voting a lil while ago because they caught people voting more than once. and jimmy salter's numbers jumped up 1000+ wonder who that was  ::)

But, something needs to be done in some capacity but I don't see anything really happening to either school.
They should've thought about that when they were fighting. Just because one school has more to lose doesn't mean that they shouldn't get the same punishment as the other. That's like saying two kids get in a fight in school and one of them happens to be the star quarterback for the football team. And the usual punishment for fighting is a ticket and suspension but everyone is saying don't suspend them because tonight is the game and we will not be able to play him.
