  1. Tony Valastro won one in LaGrange.
  2. Thats our home field advantage Colmesneilfan We head up there this year on a saturday. We are repaying the visit since Coach Davis was nice enoughto come to HI last year on a Saturday night.
  3. There are some changes to High Island's schedule: Week 0 vs Barbers Hill (Soph) Thursday Week 1 vs Galveston O'Connell Week 2 vs Legacy Christian Week 3 vs OPEN Week 4 @ HD Week 5 vs Burkeville Week 6 @ West Hardin Week 7 @ Evadale Week 8 vs Chester Week 9 @ Colmesneil Saturday Week 10 vs Sabine Pass
  4. With all of the talk of transfers comming in because Harper is the head man again, sounds a little like transferring for athletic purposes.
  5. High Island is losing 5 seniors off of last years team. They could be a team to watch out for. They lost Tiner George (QB and safety), Trey Hall (TE and LB), Donald Hooks (FB and DE), Colt Hughes (OL), and Joey Manuel (OL and DL). We are losing 5 starters on offense and 3 on defense. With all the talk of Burkeville getting all of these kids back because Harper has come out of retirement sounds a little like transferring for athletic purposes. Granted it might take a year or two but Burkeville will be back up.
  6. I would also have to say Tremain Thomas. Winning the two prestigious awards in one year says it all by itself.
  7. Go gettem Rebels
  8. Tyler Copeland from West Hardin is representing our area in the discus. He is out of the 26-1A district. Good Luck Tyler.
  9. Leblanc played basketball and ran track at LSU if i'm not mistaken.
  10. I know what you mean Colmesneilfan.
  11. Griffin will only be a sophomore this year. He started this year as a true freshman.
  12. This would be a great thing for the smaller schools when the Festival gets it up and running. These guys in 1A work their butts off and get little recognition for it. You could even invite different coaches from different staffs to help coach the game. The different coaches might be able to offer some input that the kids have not learned or heard from their own coaches.
  13. Here's the difference between DWill and Rondo, DWill has to score and Rondo don't. If Rondo had to be a scorer then I would garauntee you that he would be in the gym working on his shot.
  14. Derek Fisher is a punk. All he does is instigate stuff. He needs a good elbow right to the jaw to shut him up.
  15. As far as dirty, I wish someone would knock Derek "the Rat" Fisher the hell out. I would pull out the John Chaney book of coaching and unleash the "goons" on his butt. The Lakers are cheap shot artist and they all deserve oscars for their "I didn't do anything wrong" preformances when they foul someone.
  16. I believe that it goes like this, all of the times in the region are pooled together and then they are going to take the 4 fastest times in the region to state. The only question I have is for 1A, in which I coach. We have Area before regionals, so are they taking that time or are they going to take the district time. I hope it is the district time, because our hurdlers did not run well at area, but ran a full second faster at district.
  17. There is really not much difference in the 50 and the 4-3. It all comes down to technique. If you have the kids that will work the proper techhique then it doesn't matter what you run. Our defense is a base 50, but we stem alot to a 43 look, and roll a DE up to a LB. The main thing is getting good pressure while playing gap responsibilty.
  18. Tramain Thomas of EC was decent ;D
  19. Besides it can not be called unless 5 full innings are played. Even though HF was in the lead in the bottom of the 5th does not mean squat. That means only 4 and a half innings were played. The UIL if it goes that far would more than likely say the same thing. It has to be finished.
  20. I think Maud is also in region 3. I know they are for football and track.
  21. Joharr, the second leg broke in too soon. He left his lane and went into lane 1 before the break line. That is a terrible way to get dq'ed but I applaud the coach that did DQ them. I talked to him and he said I was being fair, because what if it had been the same situation but a different team and coach, we would expect them to do the same. (Not that they would or wouldn't. we'll never know) Coach did the right thing.
  22. High Island boys finish 3rd overall Going to regionals: Mason Mounkes 1st in High Jump 6'2", 1st in 110 hurdles 16.5 (didn't run good ran 15.00 last week) Miles Loop 1st 300 hurdles 43.00 2nd 110 hurdles 17.6 Roger Davis 3rd 300 hurdles 43.8 High Island girls did very well finishing in top 10 Going to regionals Brandi Edwards 2nd in 800M run 2:40 Kyla Spaugh 2nd in 400 67.3 4x400 relay finished 3rd with a time of 3:42
  23. Joharr I know you were at the meet last night, your boys did good. Well run meet and an outstanding job by all of the teams.
  24. Hunter Blake from High Island is a pretty good ball player. He leads the team in average, hits, hr's, rbi's, etc.
  25. Coop whats it look like for next thursday, because we have our district track meet that day?
