1. There is no way that Kountze finishes ahead of Warren. Warren hammered them last year and will do it again. Glad to see TJ back in the area, a super guy, but he aint a baseball coach, we saw that in Warren a few years back. Warren showed last year what a quality coach means to a baseball program, they had not been the same since Martinez left in 05.

 4.
While I appreciate the impassioned defense of 1 kid who was not selected to the area wide Super Gold team, lets be honest.  He's a catcher.  Two catchers made it ahead of him and you disagree.  At least be honest about it and admit that what you're saying is that Babino's better than the 2 kids who made it -Caleb Henry and Matthew Menard.  But remember this: Henry was the defensive MVP of his district (and also hit .500 on the year) and Menard was the offensive MVP of his.  I think it does those 2 young men a disservice.  They are both very, very good ballplayers and deserved the recognition they received.  This is not meant as a slap at the other kid.  He may very well have been the 3rd best catcher in the area and region and that's not too shabby.
Redbarn---I mean no disservice to anyone, but there are at least 4 catchers listed. You're telling me that the most valuable player on the 1# team in the area doesnt belong? Garbage.......
 5.
Well, the easy part is saying who should be on the list.  But now the hard part, who should be booted off of the list to make room for Babino?
You are correct, it should have been easy, quite obvious in fact. I did not slight anyone on the list, they are all deserving and great young men. But the original comment still stands, theres no way you name a local all star team without him, unless it was intentional, and thats just wrong.
 6. First, congradulations to all the young men making the team, it is an honor. Now, how does a local all-star team not include the 2 time 4A "defensive player of the year", Nederland catcher, Anthony Babino? Team must have been picked by an umpire with "very slow reflexes", if you get my drift.
 7.
Best of luck to Nederland as you advance.  An exciting series to watch with each game intense. The Dog program has so much good history and you should be proud of your Facility...It's so Baseball. We're proud of our Eagles and hope the we can get another chance in the 12' season.
This was a very good post, credit to both teams and a knod to the future of your team. I dont have a horse in this race, I go to the games now to watch individual players. I made it to the game at Lamar because I was hoping to see your #1 pitcher and I always enjoy watching the Nederland catcher, he plays the game the way it should be played, 100% every play. Didnt get to see the game Friday, as our local team started their playoff run, but I have heard that your #1 pitcher threw a very good game.
 8. Really? I wonder how many times that kid has been asked to bunt this year? It was the 4th or 5th ining of a 7 inning game.....Not a 9 inning game. They dodged a bullet with the first foul ball that BH couldnt get to, but then to call it again and have a pop up? No, sorry, that doesnt work. Down by 1or 2 late in a game, yes. Down by 5 late in a game, nope.

I have to assume you dont win a tough district by allowing 3 infield singles on routine ground balls. You are also correct in that Ned did not get the hits when they needed them. The whole point of the original post was, if Ned pitches their #1 or #2, BH doesnt put as many balls in play, the Ned infield doesnt have to make the plays it could not make.............And yes, all you Lamar lovers, that turf is SLOW. It is true, but it is slow.
Then why didnt the coach throw them? BH threw there #3 #5 then #4(IMO).... they got the job done. Good job pitching and Good job Eagles. Bring it home!
Medical issues on both......Not their fault and their health is much more important than a baseball score.
Than as a fan you cant put that on a coaches shoulders... good decision by the coach. Dont think the coach had any part of it. I dont think they were released to play, well Smith played, but could not pitch. Now one thing you can put on the coach is trying to play small ball when you are down by 5 runs in the 4th with 2 on and the middle of your line up batting. That made no sence at all.
12.
Come on now. That turff was crappy for both teams. Ned just did not get the job done at the plate. Give the young Eagles some credit. The Dawgs have their work cut out for them.
Yep...I agree, same turf for both teams, but the Ned fielders didnt get the job done. Congrats to BH, you got the job done. Had the routine plays been made by Ned, 2 runs would have been enough.
 13.
Didn't really matter if Smith or Duplant pitched, Dogs just didn't hit the ball. It's a series, Dogs will have to score runs tomorrow to get to Saturday. I look for Barbers Hill to save their No.1 till Saturday if needed.
Sure it matters...not having your #1 or #2 pitchers makes a difference. I also believe playing on the terrible turf at Lamar hurt them. BH had at least 3 infield hits. Your infielders cant stay back and wait, they have to attack the ball, and they did not. Ned has a battle coming back from this, they can do it, but its going to be tough. On another note, the home plate umpire was terrible, for both sides. No consistency in a strike zone, not vocal at all and really was just a bad umpire, especially for a playoff game. Do the umps have to qualify for the playoffs? This guy needs to stay in T-ball.
 14.
Heard from a Nederland player that Babino was mad for being called out and he admitted to missing the ball on purpose.,A kid that is that good of a cather doesn't miss a ball that bad, just saying!
More of the "he said, she said" crap. If you did not hear it from him, you should have kept it to yourself.
 15. The fact that Warren played error free ball may have helped just alittle. The "hanging K's" thing on the fence, well......I saw 6 at one time, but Kountze was down by 9 runs. Was it for strike outs, or ERA?
