Need info on West Brook's Rodney Brown

Good point. Its VERY watered down. IMHO, either you play Little Dribblers or start your own AAU team to get your kids involved. I'm only guessing that maybe the YMCA's still have teams. -

A lot of variables come into play if you're trying to get kids into one organization. It sounds easy if you put the kids under one umbrella orgamiza ooops!!! Under one NON-PROFIT community base basketball umbrella. Put your top performers on your 17u showcase team and have them participate in NCAA certified tourneys with a PROVEN track record for having coaches at their events. Another 17u team to travel to local tourneys and another 17u developmental team. Get someone to volunteer work on the NAIA, JUCO, & D2 schools to develop a rapport with coaches. Get your players workouts in front of the coaches. But this can be tricky too because you better not send them just bodies and a prayer. Keep your egos at home ;)

They should have the tournament promoters to change the wording to something like, " Yes , we are a NCAA certified event, but that don't mean any coach's coming."

Average? Credential wise no. Google Kyle Manary or Tim Schumacher. Probably the biggest difference I've seen is that a lot of these AAU coaches at the higher level in AAU have some sort of long term success at different stages of their careers. Definitely not average careers. Constantly evolving by learning & teaching. -

Who really knows. Any answer would only be an opinion. Everybody would agree that there are good and bad "average" coaches in high school and AAU. But I haven't seen or heard a coach indict himself for being an average coach at this point in my life, and doubt I ever will. But I do think the average AAU coach may understand his players strengths and weaknesses better than an average high school coach, I think thats the difference. Many high school coaches coach their system, not their players. -

I don't think the average high school coach could evaluate a kid's talent for playing beyond high school. -
And this will be the only outlet to give S.E.Texas props over Houston teams. ;)

Just saw an old pic last night of Rodney and Jordan in their 3rd grade homeroom together at Beaumont ISD. Heard Rodney worked out in front of San Jac officials last week. Rodney has a lot of potential with his size at the 2 guard. -
Thanks for the report. Jaylon Williams from Cleveland, is he a point, sg, 3, or 4? Not familiar with Cephus but will tune in my radar. Seen Shead, the kid can go and will go D1 somewhere.

Fellas, yall gonna have to do better reporting AAU news for those of us not in the loop anymore. I mean, whose changing teams? Who are the rising stars not normally mentioned but with some good potential? This stuff changes so fast. Even Basketball University getting props & respect this season.

Excellent points!!

 !! I knew I wasn't crazy!!! Kept saying how out of shape the kids were right after high school season. C'mon guys , yall been holding back on another thing I know all yall noticed, they all have FUN and enjoy the game during the summer ;)

Team Thad? Thats good. Thats goona help his cause playing against teams with potential D1 players.

Cool Beans!!! Several more live periods coming up and opportunities to shine again.

Anybody hear if any of our local 16's or 17's getting offers or interest from this past weekend?
-
Yes sir!! Thats it!! I had to go get my fix this weekend and attended Kingwood to watch a relative on his 8th grade team. Seems like I can't stay away from "da devil." ;) But good point, SETX kids need to support each other in tourneys. I've seen it in the past when the kids supported or watched their area mates play. Lets hope the other teams were busy and in at another location and their schedule didn't allow the time.

bradyb If it was about winning, I would go after everyone's best players and buy them stuff and not make them pay fee's just to have the best team. :) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Yep, the first warning signs that the devil is working to get your soul
