  3. Per his twitter account,Nic Garth Cy-Lakes High & Houston Hoops sharp shooter has verbally committed to Lamar University. He had other offers from Univ.of New Orleans, UT- Arlington and UNC-Ashville. The kid can shoot.
  4. Now you know its real bad if tvc avoid them.
  5. Some history as why we got the talk in my days growing up in Houston.   Joe Campos Torres (December 20, 1953 - May 5, 1977) was a 23-year-old Vietnam Veteran who was beaten by several Houston police officers and subsequently died. His death sparked protests and the outcome of the trial was met with rioting. Torres had been arrested at a Houston bar for disorderly conduct. Six police officers took Torres to a spot called “The Hole” next to Buffalo Bayou and beat him.[1] The officers then took Torres to the city jail, who refused to process him due to his injuries. They were ordered to take him to Ben Taub General Hospital, but instead of doing so, the officers brought him back to the banks of Buffalo Bayou and pushed him into the water. Torres’s body was found two days later.
  6. Those of us in certain circles recognize this at an early age  ;)
  7. Always "exceptions" to any rules. LOL!!  But news guy(?) on channel 12 showed some stats where 28% of young Black males were stopped and whites were around 12% (?).    I've already given mine "da talk" before the older one started driving. I guess with age, maybe there comes a point when "da man" stop pulling "us" over. I noticed a slight drop off after age 49.
  8. Ahhh, so now the Black male has new competition. His own partner in the bedroom. Can't find a decent paying job, and you know how finances will end a marriage or relationship quick. Now that I think about it, Reagan was in office.
  9. Sometimes its just easier to find blame and move on, case forgotten. Not so sure I'm willing to close the case & blame it on a drug dealer for a man's indirect death. I still think Lee Harvey Oswald was set up.
  10. Now you know I purposely didn't finish my analogy  :P  What do you think happened when Black women started competing with their Black mates for those blue collar jobs....hmmm?
  11. Nash, I was in Chicago downtown area back in the 80's. Three things I saw while downtown that woke me up to a "new  world USA order." (1) I saw a man grab a sandwich out of the garbage container (2) saw women on their lunch break walking in tennis shoes (3) saw Black women driving a city bus.
  12. *Mod Edit -  that was over the line *
  13. Tears of a Clown!!
  14. Thats the American system....vote ....good or indifference
  15. Ohhhhh, I could not figure it out. Now its making sense.
  16. They ain't laughing all the way to the bank. They hired someone to go to bank for them  ;)
  17. I don't think he's an "Uncle Tom" because he is shifting to repubs. I respect his decision. But I do disagree with the rationale why men who were head of their families left home. The majority of people in our society don't reach out for  welfare until a time of need.
  18. I did hear about a family loss. Sorry to hear about this . Prayers to your family.
  19. Dave Ramsey is my boy. Good financial planning programs.
  20. "We're not accusing (Hadnot) of killing Wright," Bales said. "We are accusing him of distributing the drugs that killed Wright."     Oh really!!!!
  21. Different case but same employer.
  22. LOL!!! I was being nice when I said "some alums"
  23. Probably her attorney husband helped her with the payments
  24. A&M lost one (actually two)of their coaches who had built a relationship with several players in the Houston area. Plus, some of the A&M alums want Kennedy gone.
