Toe will be a man amongst boys, Ozen's guards can score and penetrate with the best. It wlll be a great Chess match.  Go Panthers!!!
Good analysis!
1. Central used their AGGRESSIVE offensive board play to get second and third shots to score.
Plus, Central does not take many low percentage shots (referring to 3-pointers). I would guess they attempted less than 5 (combined) in the two district games we played them.
Yeah, those long 3's tend to bounce farther out off ..can we say "fast break the other way."

Lost  starting pg and center, high minute 6'6" reserve, and 6'10" reserve to prep schools. Maybe a few more last minute departures....we'll know Aug. 26th. Up and coming kids have long way to go and short time to get there....come on Bandit. This year will be like 2010-11 after Peters,Gardner,Roy,Davis, Young and crew graduated. Playoffs yes.....Austin....possible but not likely.
Hmmm, well actually some of those guys ........... :-X :-X

To put my $$ where my mouth is, I'll owe you a hotdog and a juicebox from concessions @ first meeting
No way you'll sucker me in.  When that Hunter kid gets going, it's hard for anyone to beat Ozen.  ;D
Will Central be adequate in the SWRJ area?
Don't know about SMRJ, but the Dunk -o- meter's readings will be off the charts, for whatever that's worth...
The dunking will definitely get Central to Austin this year.
 6. And won't refund your $26,000
 7. Those schools take your cell phones, go into town on weekends with an adult, etc...................... kick you out of school for staring too hard ( ;D )

We all wish we could get another opportunity to play. I'm in my 40's, if the UIL gave me another shot I'm Ballin' on your kid ;D ;D Good Luck & God Bless Chris.  Remember he is still a kid & is someone's child
I think a lot of us would back you up on this one. Just keep the Ben Gay in stock.
 12. Central will win State this year. They have all the experience and talent to take it all this year. All theyhave to do is show up for the games and play.

 14.
Hoping that I was mis-informed on this one but the word on the street is that this young man will be 20 years old at some point during the basketball season next year. If that's the case then there is something seriously broken within the system. Whether or not he has used up four year's of athletics is truly irrelavent in all of this as the bigger question should be why is he being rewarded for failing in the classroom. This gives "opening up Pandora's box" a whole new meaning in regards to this subject. What message is being sent to the up and coming youth that in all likely hood be faced with a similar perdicament if they are not taking care of their academics. I love watching a talented ball player but to watch one who by all intent and purpose should NOT be on the court with teenagers sours it a bit. Academics should ALWAYS supercede athletics, Silsbee High's leadership is sending out a terrible message on this one!!!
Mis-informed!!! He is not 20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Chris!!!

Saying they treating players like pieces of meat and would get beat by 14U teams wouldn't be something I would think an alum would be doing.
I'm not talking down on Silsbee. That's in general around here... So many HS coaches use the kids instead of get them prepared for college. And about the 14U teams beating Silsbee, I'm not taking anything away from Silsbee... But I'm honest... There are 14U teams that would compete in our district... It's irrevelant but it's true.
"Ouch!"  :o

Gotta admit, very high level of competition at some of those schools that you can't find in high school.

With a good coach, Lumberton  might make some noise in the coming years. They already have a step up for this year.
Did you get lost Dove? For one this is the girls thread and another this this has nothing to do with Ozen.  ;D
Nah, I totally understand where she is coming from with this and support her commitment to her dad. I never met the man and have never seen the Jacks play. But I think I'll make an effort this season to see them play. ;)
He's a pretty good guy; eccentric when it comes to coaching but pretty nice and down to earth outside of the gym and I'm with Ms. Jacks here. He took a better job outside of the school year and with the way some people were acting, going back could have called more issues then it was worth. Let me know when you want to come see a game an ill save you a seat. His daughters could teach your boys how to shoot like a pro 😜.
I'm going to take you up on that offer ;) I heard about those Jacks girls. I respect for what I hear about them because I know they have respect for the game, while others just "play" the game. Big difference!!!

 21.
I believe both programs will reach their potential through the growing pains. Experience is the best teacher. Although I still believe too many of the kids spend way too much time on the summer circrcuit & not enough time working on their weaknesses. The 3 point shot is the worst shot in basketball, but if you venture out to your pee wee league games 7-10 yr olds jack 'em up like layups. The laws of basketball says even your greatest hall of famers will only shoot 50% from the field (that was back in the day) and even less from 3 pt area.  In today's basketball the 2pt & 3 pt are separated to give an illusion these guys can shoot.  My advice to any kid with dreams of playing ball beyond High School is to play hard nosed defense & hustle. Those 2 qualities will have you on any roster and many times guarantee you a starting role. Take the road least traveled, everyone wants to score, no one wants to DEFEND. The latter wins Championships (Not talking about District Champ) in Bumblebee land those don't count. So to wrap this up I will say to our Beaumont Ballers, Defend the perimeter & Defend the paint and you may have a chance to play in March. That is what you are playing for right???  If your Goal is to finally Win the outright District Championship you have already LOST Mighty Bumblebees
Amen! Now if the kids can just buy into it
 22.
I really feel they do all of these things at times! Consistency and team cohesiveness is what is missing in my opionion! I do feel that Ozen will be 20-4a District Champs! There Coaches will have to step their game up to win the big games and I truely believe there guard depth & play is ahead of most teams they will face! Boatner & Wyngard will be better on the block this year and the twins will be very helpful this year along with the other remaining 4 big men they will have available to help wear down other teams big men! Jodan, Jared, DeMascus, Ryan, Boyd can all light it up, making it difficult to contain one person! They will "Turn It Up!" Don't Believe me just watch! And Dove, I know you will be watching! ;)

Reliable sources says Toe-Toe will be a Jag this season! Good for Central's playoff run! They should be very good again this year! Ozen should also be very good and balanced with good ball handlers, shooters and deapth on the blocks! It's funny how now-a-days there would be a conversation of whether these schools could beat Nederland for a District Title? They have some good players and a good head Coach but has Central & Ozen kids/coaches fallin' off that much? When I played it was an automatic 20 to 30 point victory because we played hard, smart, did what we were told to do and simply refused to loose! Oh, I get it the rolls have reversed, it's not all about atheleticism because Central & Ozen definetly have that! Seriosly though, if these players mindset and work-ethic change the only conversation for 20-4a District would be who will be the 3rd & 4th playoff teams after Central & Ozen! Jumping doesn't assure rebounds as much as blocking-out!
"but has [s]Central[/s] & Ozen kids/coaches fallin' off that much? " JRidge, let me ask you a question in order to help answer your question  ;) Okay, you watch Ozen players during their games, do they: 1. Play hard?  2. Do they play smart?    3. Do what they are told to do?  4. Do they refuse to loose? Just asking your opinion.  ;)

;)

Inteligent, bright young man, he and his brother! They both are very atheletic and could raise eyebrows on the football or track if they wanted! I'm impressed with this kids basketball IQ and ability to get his shots off anywhere on the floor! As he improves his first step (which is pretty good) and matures into the leadership role on his team, he & his brother can very well lead there team to state! Jared sometimes get's over-shadowed but works hard defensively & knocks down big shots, a solid ball player! Very good students as well, parents are proud of them I'm sure, they did a good job raising them!
All the credit goes to Mammagotjuice
and the early coaching from the Hamshire-Fannett staff. They set the foundation.
I gotta agree, his middle school coaches in the 7th and 8th grade were very positive and fair coaches. We will never know about high school ;)
The middle school coaches got their instructions from the high school head coach at the time.
That could not be true! The high school guard stopped his dribble when he was defended coming down on a fast break.  Our middle school guards went around the defense and created mix matches on fast breaks.
