2.
I always hear how good my Tigers are but for the moat part we fall apart in crunch time. The 08 and 10 teams advanced to state but couldn't get a trophy. Something has to give one of these years.
BS, some teams are just primed to be 2nd best in the scheme of things  :D
Triple A had the option to opt up to higher classifications. School districts always have the option to play up in class, but cannot go down in class. Triple A chose to go where their enrollment put them, 1A DI.
I don't understand why they would wanna play in a 1A division even with their enrollment numbers, knowing they had a high level of talent.
Maybe to win a State Title?? I dont know, i mean i could be wrong.  :P
I think they could have won a 2-A title
 4.

I do agree that this charter school/basketball factory had NO BUSINESS competing in UIL PEROID, let alone in class 1A...That was just not a wise move on the part of the UIL.
Glad we agree on something! ;) ;D
The world bout to end!!!  ;D
 5.
I think that last statement is the problem. The "owner" of the school who has a kid on the team who is trying to get his kid noticed. Uil needs to take notice and change this from happening again. All of these schools need to compete in the highest classification because it is too easy to recruit.  Even the yes preps of the world. Needs to be the same for all private or charter who compete under the Uil.
But here is an additional problem. YES Prep cannot compete - so you definitely don't want to put them in the same classification with a Prime Prep or Triple AAA.

This made my 42nd straight state tourney to attend. Looking forward to next year's tourney. Now on to high school baseball!
Thanks for all the broadcasts/updates this basketball season Aggie.
No problem. Enjoy doing it.
::)
 7. Could be possible. But the owner of the school has a son who is under the radar with many major D1 programs.

ONLY because that weak 4a squad from Old Town Beaumont gave them a run for their money, huh?  That weak team couldn't possibly beat Yates, huh.  ::)
Yep, more kinda like that Pear Orchard squad gave Yates a run for their money in the final 13 seconds. ;)
 11. If the UIL has not controlled the free agent market since UIL's inception way back in the 1930's, don't see any new rules forth coming to stop the situation in 2013-2014.
 12.
im still trying to figure out how these teams can participate in a UIL district but the UIL denied Prime Prep.  ;D
Because Prime Prep had too much hype surrounding their induction into the charter school business. UIL has no clue or at least didn't until AAA got their hype.
 13. OOOPS! I mis-typed in the other Triple AAA thread that is now closed.  I meant to say the charter schools in Houston ARE NOT ready for 5-A nor 4-A. UIL can only go by enrollment, I'm only guessing. If UIL want to help the situation due to their lack of knowledge, they need to have someone to advise their  board who is familiar with summer team programs & high school teams.
Not really.  ;) The summer free agency market is  a lot more interesting than high school.  ;)
 15. 16. I have three friends who attended SGP. If they beat Travis, I gotta hear them talk about how great Dallas area teams are than Houston. C'mon Travis
 17.
Does anyone think that Yates couldve won the 4A title. I wasnt impressed with Kimball nor Terry. :o
Again, 4-A was wide open this year and look who won it, Terry. I thought a Dallas team would win 4-A. And yes, Yates would have been in Austin playing 4-A
 18.

So, this is really about AAU teams beating high school teams  :o
When 7 of the 11 players for Triple A played on same AAU team, that call's for some questioning of how high school team was assembled. Not your typical high school team, particularly at 1A level. Just does not seem right that when Houston Strake Jesuit petitioned UIL to play public school sports, UIL told them they could but would have to play at highest classification, 5A, no matter what their enrollment was, but that is not the case with charter schools. TEA backs charter schools and UIL hands are sort of tied with some of the loop holes that allows charter schools to build sports teams like Triple A. They all should have to play 5A or create their own league.
But on the other side, you have charter schools like those in Houston that are ready for 5-A ball.
 19. So, this is really about AAU teams beating high school teams  :o

 21.
If triple a sucked nobody would care, just like nobody cares about all the other charters that suck. But since triple a is good, everybody makes a big deal out of it. I do think they should be a 3a but it doesn't matter they won state, end of story.
My point exactly
 22.
Ridiculous. UIL should be ashamed.
I don't think UIL know enough about the charter schools. No one complained when they were put in East Chambers' district as being competitive.
 23.
Yeah...a charter school "AAU" program competeing in Class A.... ::) ::)...Dallas area schools are SO DIRTY...They will go to ANY lengths to claim bragging rights over the Houston Area... ::)
Ya just gotta love AAU/summer ball.  ;D
 24. I heard there was some booing going on during the after game activities.
