These are the Region III teams currently in the top 25 of the 4A TABC state polls: #1 Fort Bend Marshall #9 Houston Wheatley #10 Beaumont Central #16 Brazosport #17 Georgetown #24 Friendswood #25 Nederland By just taking those teams in consideration, I think Central has a good shot of repping Region III in Austin.
Man, somebody told me Region 3 in 4-A was wide open and now I see why he said it...

Remember a run down area called "The Heights"....Been there lately? Gentrification at it's finest...Once again...another topic for another day! ;)
I bet you haven't been to your paternal grandmother's neighborhood in awhile? LOL! There is an area around the Central Mall/Stone Gate area that is zoned to where a family can opt to choose to go to either PAM or Ned. If these kids did leave PAM to go to Ned maybe because they weren't getting enough playing time at PAM then if they live in this certain zone then nothing is wrong with it. Why do you think PAISD was so adamant about building the high school where they built it.....To try and attract more of those kids from that area?
Good guess, but I can tell you thats NOT why the school is there. They are wanting the West Side of Port Arthur to die, make the younger families move toward the mall area, re-build the West Side and downtown PA, so that the Lamar State area and Pleasure Island become more "attractive areas" again, if you know what I mean...But thats for another topic for another day.... ;)
Dickie- Sounds like you were a member of the city planning committee
probably studied HIS history more than attended the planning committee

Is there no strategy involved in this? So, coaches and teams decide to coach ONLY when the playoffs begin? I'm just trying to understand...
Believe it or not, Soulja, the playoffs are an ENTIRELY different animal..at ALL levels..You are not going to be able to out talent ANYONE, unless your team is just THAT much more superior talent wise, and Central is certainly not that. They are young, and they are talented...BUT..When the playoffs hit, they will be exposed. Sorry, man, just calling it how I see it. 8)
Just playing devils advocate, man. Remember, I wasn't the one screaming Central being state bound. ;) But you and I know that if you get hot and lucky at the right time, good things can happen. Isn't that what happened with the 99 Jags and the 07 Panthers?
In other words (from Souljah1) "yeah I hear yall but we got all this talent and been winning all this time. So we must be going to Austin. And remember, we beat Yates in the Fall League." ::) ::)

Do you guys really think that Lamar should sign players just because they live and played high school football in SE Texas? I promise you everyone that plays in SE Texas is NOT college football material. There are some very good players that come from this area but that doesn't mean they are good enough to play college football, or maybe they are good enough to play college ball but they don't fit Lamar's scheme. Raiderblue, you said the following, "We have great home grown talent and can't get these yo yo's to sign them." Are you joking? Here's Lamar's 2012 roster. WOW! I looked at the 2013 class just for Houston. As populated as Houston is, the pickings are slim for pg's as far as the major D1's. Taylor was the next best in his class and position after the Harrison twins. So, for the next few years, we might see kids getting major D1 offers (like Taylor) who in a normal good recruiting year would not get them.
