I think Nederland will still be the team to beat in 20 4A however I think this district battle will be a lot of fun. He was fouled hard a couple of times, but didn't think a thing of it and shot his free throws. Is he the top player on the team?
No! Not yet!!! But will probably be "da man" next year.

They got plenty of weapons, tons of skill, all the experience, yet they are still suppose to be a notch below central, and even ozen... Brian will have these bulldogs ready to make a run! Central folks won't argue with him, so he tries to get us excited, and I'm okay with that. ;) He won't admit it, but deep down, he knows Nederland has a good chance for a 4th straight District Title. 8) The difference between our team from last year is experience and confidence. Last year, we returned 0 starters, and only 2 players who came off the bench who contributed (English and Weisbrod). This year, we return 4 starters and 5 others who played Varsity last year. Expectations are high in Big Ned, and I believe these kids are up to the challenge.
Lol! I thought you wrote, " he knows Nederland has a good chance ..... for a 4th spot." Sorry!

Nash is a true republican. Always putting a spin to something. I am only referring to Nederland for this year. Central's quickness, speed, skill and overall talent will give Nederland fits this year.

He is considered a junior. Has an extra year to play high school.
a Junior??? in what country? i saw this guy Saturday, and like i said, he looks 30 years old. Guy could walk into any liquor store in Houston and walk out with his favorite beverage and not be questioned. I did like seeing the full court press from the opening tip. i like that. come out aggressive and put the opposing team on point right away. With the lack of quality ball handlers (don't work on fundamentals enough IMO) turn overs leads to easy basket. Not shocked to see them score tons of points.
LOL! You're saying this because he is balding ;D But true. UIL just made a ruling on his eligibility this week.
No, but I think when you come across "da quickest player(s) ALONG WITH having a high basketball IQ does make a difference ;)
Of course it will, but unless the other 4 players are also in the same category, there are ways to counter the speed/quickness of a single player. My experience suggests to me that most of those endowed with that much quickness tend to not fully develop that IQ of which you speak because the quickness has always separated them from everyone else. I am speaking, of course, about junior high and high school players. Nederland and HJ would seem to validate my theory, don't you think?
In past years, yes!!! ;D
So my theory "used" to be valid but not anymore? Please elaborate or is this just another " I "heard" a billionaire gave money to Obama" comment? Yates also seemed to have a problem with Clear Springs yesterday.....Yates won 63-57. We lost to Clear Springs by 2 points and would have played Yates if we had won this game.
One of them was not all of them. Its just like last year when they could have played for the district title outright but instead let Nederland go in as the 1st seed. And again they chose to go there with 6 players and at the end of the day are you satisfied with just showing up and beating Yates. The mentality has to change amongst our young athletes, are we teaching them that if you win a couple of games and beat a great team its ok if you dont play wanna anymore ,cause you proved your point.
You let the secret out, I was hoping Central would continue this type of attitude leading into their district play :D Keep hope alive!!
Please gentleman don't read too much into the whole super16 extravaganza. Yes it was a competitive tournament but playing in these types of games without the real head coaches means nothing. We all know the head coaches will put players where they should be and not where they wanna be. Still congrats to Central, proud of them they represented for SETX.
Good points! I'm really proud of Central. I keep telling my hometown people in Houston S.E.Tex has some young talent coming. As huge as Houston is in basketball population, S.E.Texas has numerous players ranked with Houston area players. Good job Central.

Was told by a reliable source that Wheatley is coming to YMBL in December. Any other non-local teams being thrown around who agreed to play?
Then perhaps we can look at it another way. Another way, in fact, that you ought to relish. Since Yates would beat HJ by 30 or 40, can we conclude that Central will beat Hj by at least 35 or 45 if they meet in their early season game as they have the last several years?
Nope! Nash you know "good-n-well" its all about match-ups. HJ will match up well with Central. The kids know each other and those other variables will fall into place. ;)
