Who do you think has the best shot at going to Austin?
BLUEDOVE3 replied to BADSANTA's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Kountze...... Central has another year before they make it. Nederland though fundamentally sound i believe there best shot was last year and thats past. I forsee Dallas Kimball winning it again...they only lost 3 seniors
According to Central peeps this is their year ::) Nederland had their chance last year and blew it!! Ozen is just too young. So maybe LCM will come thru the back door -

No more Houston schools for them to deal with.
Already got rooms reserved in Austin for tha Kountze Lions...gonna take it all!
Fortunately, I have a lot of friends who live all over Austin, so I will be staying with one of them when Nederland punches their ticket! ;D Gotta be optimistic, right? 8)
Your uneasiness is coming thru my computer. ;D -
Zach is good but don't tell him I said it. :D
BOOM! Busted [s]2[/s] [s]days[/s] 3 days in a row! ;D Zach is a good shooting guard, and he has shown improvements with his ability to get to the hole. He's played point guard mostly over the past 2 years because he handles the ball better than anyone else on the team. He is going to do whatever is best for the team to win. I think he is more of a 2 guard, and that's where universities will need him to play if he gets an offer at the next level. His defense and foot work need improvement, but his outside shooting is what colleges will want him to do. I admitted on a previous thread that I don't know what it takes to play D1 basketball, so I don't know if Zach has 'it'. For now, I'm sure he is focused on the present and enjoying his senior season with his friends/teammates. I thought Kelvin Smith was good enough to play at the next level, but i think colleges saw him as a 'tweener'. I also thought Prudhomme would have received offers to bigger schools too. My point is that I really don't know what it takes to be a D1 or D1AA player.
The one thing that English really needs for the next level is STRENGTH, Hit the weights son.
I agree sir. I don't know is weight, but he needs to put on 10-15 lbs of muscle to get serious looks. However, the way college coaches emphasize strength/weights, he could add that in one off season, easily.
Yes sir they will definitely do that they did the same to me, but i had wished i had that weight strength already. would ve gave me a better chance of moving up on the depth chart against the already returning sophs, juniors, seniors of the college team who already have been going through strength training. as a freshman try working out (like you never have before) for 2 hours and then go straight to the gym to shoot when your arms are like noodles, those sophs juniors seniors will already know about this.
Good points but I really wish you would advise others besides Nederland, thank you! Plus they really don't need the weights. They are fine just as it is 8) -

As for Mr. Minor, my point again was that his "successful d-1 career" was considerably less than what the consensus prognostication implied.
Nash, D-1 po-ten-tial!!!!!! Stay on topic. Its a Wrap! More Bad News for Local 3-A Schools
BLUEDOVE3 replied to BLUEDOVE3's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Wait a minute! I did post on the basketball forum , right? "PP" (I like that Aggie) will be the team to beat in that region. Oh thats right, Aggie is with 3-A Sillsbee. He hasn't mentioned the players who enrolled at PP. Its a wrap ;D -
More bad news for area 3-A schools. Prime Prep has been granted permission to play in the 3-A Division beginning this season. Its a wrap fellas. Yates probably won't even win State this year. So you know local powerhouses are playing for pride this year to see who will represent this area only to lose in the regionals to Yates. :'(

The advantage you may have over others is that "you know what you don't know"
And there are others who can base their experiences and opinions on what they see/seen in person for several years on the local and national scenes. When you watch and be around the top tier high school D-1 talent in practices, games, etc; you know and see the differences. He has offers from almost every school in the country. That's big time right there
I love what the kid is doing and how he is handling the attention that he is getting, but let's put this in prespective. He has world class speed and is a heck of an athlete. But, he will need a lot of work between this year and next year to be an elite CB, which is what he'll be playing in college. I don't think he's there yet, but I think eventually, he will.
Doesn't he play safety for Ozen? At 6'1" 190 he already has the body type of an NFL safety. Put him in a top college with a good weight training program and the sky is the limit.
He has the brains and and talent. Now thats a winning combination ;) ;) -
