It appears that Wiesbrod is about 6'4" and he's very strong and crafty to get the ball in the hoop.  IMO, he will need to work on the outside game to be ready on the next level.  I've seen him push the rock on a fast break, so I would say that his ball handling skills are ok.  You Mention kids playing post now and they won't be playing it in college?  I think it's about what helps the team.  If you are the tallest players on your team, you should be in the paint banging...  Unless you are a freak of nature or you're able to play the guard positions better than those little 5'6" players.  Then, by all means, do what you do.
Good points! Here is what I see often. A young kid grows fast and its just natural to want to put him on the block. And usually , he never works on improving his game (on their own time) to get better. So he graduates from high school with no "point forward" or guard skills because now, he's ONLY 6'5" or shorter. I see too many kids playing in the moment and not preparing for the future. Hmmmm?
Dove- that isnt the first time you have made remarks about your knowledge of knowing how to stop people from scoring.  I am curious how this knowledge is exclusive to you and not to others who are in the business full time and doing so for a living?
Funny isn't it- But you forget. I use to be in the business ;)

You have point forwards who are 6'8" now. They create and shoot off the dribble now. Which is why the kid Zeno is trying to come into his own as a guard.. He knows he wont be a post in the future. So, I guess we are still on topic since you brought me back there.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is a Point Forward? As far as Weisbrod, I don't see him as a 2 guard or 'wing man' in college. I used the term power forward, bc he is strong and physical. Was Charles Barkley not a power forward for 20 years at 6'4"? If you want to call him a 'point forward', fine. He is a skilled kid, and he will only be a Junior this year. Who knows what he will be in 2 years.
A power forward who can run a fast break or break down a player from the wing..LeBron would be a good example

When the team has all their players, who will the starting 5 be in your opinion? Thanks
Starting 4 from last year: English Weisbrod Lormier Rogers The 5th starter will probably be Kirby Hanley, but may be a bigger player of we are playing a 'big' team.
Abe, I saw Rogers in the mall this week (working). I told him Nederland would not win district. He said 'yes sir!"

 8. I look at some things differently and not so much from a present point of view. All the guys you mentioned  WILL NOT be post players after high school. So, now its a question of conflict between doing whats best for your team and/or doing whats best "for me" if I want to play at the next level? So to keep within the subject content, who are the best post players in this area now and what can they do to prepare for the future in basketball as a non-post player?

Just curious.  A young LCM and an improving Vidor may have a shot at the 4th spot.  A taste of playoffs, even if short lived, gives young teams experience and confidence.
Good point! Much like the district last year with HF& WO-S, it will be interesting to see who gets the final playoff spot. Livingston possibly could play a dual role this year. Being the dark horse and the spoiler in this district. They could get that 4th spot and at the same time apply pressure on Nederland and Central fighting for the 2nd and 3rd spots.
Don't you mean Ozen and central fighting for the 2nd and 3rd spots?. :)
;D
Which is probably why yall lost to Ozen  ;D
I highly doubt it.....  We'll see if lightning strikes the same place twice. It's also the reason we've been as successful as we have been.
KPK AND OZEN... thats twice mate.
Still 2 different teams. So we're 21-2 in the last 2 years, or 34-5 in the last 3 years.
34-5 is very impressive. I'm too lazy to check the record books but now you have me wondering...hmmm? With such an impressive record, how deep has your team  gone with such an impressive record?

 19.
I think it shows Silsbee has some very good athletes. I remember at one time they only had maybe two or three kids that played both sports. With Jones moving back to MacArthur, I'm sure Silsbee will still have a decent season. ;D I with all the Tigers nothing but success this season!
I think your district championship is a wrap. The question is: Will Silsbee allow HJ to win district, thereby allowing Silsbee to purposely take 2nd place to advance further in the playoffs? The ball in in Silbee's court :D
