1. Recruiting in high school has been going on before most of us were born. Thats why UIL put the rules in back in 20's or 30's.
 2. I think basic weight training should start in middle school.
 3.
Really haven't seen enough of these two to have a good opinion.  However based upo  what i have seen and even read about in the KP game,  I would rather have Boutte as a coach since Wise must only teach one style.
:-X :-X
 4.

It was said that FB Travis recruits as does The Woodlands. I have no way of proving it either way, and I doubt anyone does. However, the reason people don't bring it up, IMO, is bc if you look at FB teams, Travis is not the ONLY good team. Last year it was FB Hightower and FB Bush. Same as The Woodlands. TW now has TWHS and TW College Park. BOTH schools are very good. If you go watch TW schools, they usually don't have phenomenal 'stand out' players. They usually don't have D1 players on their basketball team. They are fundamentally sound, so the idea that recruiting is going on is unlikely. Now take a look at the other schools in Yates' District. They are very unimpressive. Some of the schools in that district losing to Yates by 100++!! In addition, Yates was the only school this year to make it out of the 2nd round in the playoffs. It seems that Yates attracts the best talent in that district, and the other schools get the left overs per se.
Glover (a "C-" coach at best) at Bellaire has been a big recruiter for years. Notice how Bellaire dropped off talent-wise just as Yates began to rise. These two things are not a coincidence.
The Bellaire players I personally know wanted to go to Bellaire with their parent's  blessing
 5.

News Flash: Additional bad news for 3-A. MET with Sharpstown High coach today. They are in district with Yates.  He said Yates JV is better than the Yates' varsity.
Was this before or after the barber shop meeting with the Natives?  Boy, you really get around.
Nash, you are correct I really do get around especially since high school ball is over. But it was afterwards ;)
 6. DV and WildCatter make good points.
 7.
Ok! Yates will bring in a kid from Kingwood, Cypress, and Katy. That's not recruiting?
hmmm! I personally know a kid at Yates and their situation is like that. But the dad wanted his son in the magnet program at Yates. They moved into Yates' district from other suburban district.  All legal.

 9. I'm near 3rd Ward at the moment and having a barber shop meeting with the natives.  THe natives shaking their heads and laughing at the recruiting comments.
 10. Interesting, Kimball (Keith Frazier & Co.) and Yates are two schools who are always being accused of recruiting students....hmmmm? I wonder.........!
 11. And Ozen will have 2 senior guards to lead the younger players which is definitely an added asset. ;)
 12.
how many times has it cost over the last couple of seasons?  it almost cost him last night over a much inferior team.
Actually, there was never a fear or the feeling  for YATES losing last night. Yates missed their 3's and they had a nice half court set they had to rely on. It showed they could play a half court game.
 13. WO-S, don't try and spin this .......I think DV will agree with me that we are referring to specific targeted training towards one's sport. For example (again), for basketball players, leg squats positions are at a different angle or at the defensive squat position ;)
 14.
Ozen losing their BIGS from this year, so I could see them playing a 'Silsbee style' of play which has been very effective doe them so far this year. Ozen had a few 'BIGS' in JV though too.
Good points DVD and Dog. We have some "bigs" who can jump out the gym when they want to.
Ah, so refreshing to have a basketball mind that truly understands the differences between football and basketball training. So refreshing!
Well, H-F basketball before Price showed at H-F absolutely stunk.  While, I'm sure that this year's basketball success cannot be attributed to the lifting program, certainly no one can say that this lifting system was the cause of past inadequacies in the basketball program.  Remember that this is also a search for a new football coach, an area that until recent times, H-F has had some proficiency in and showed some faint signs of having again.
There were a combination of things but the major thing was instilling discipline on the team. Plus, you factor in playing your best players.
 16. Dickie, from a team perspective & based on Ozen's size, youthfulness, etc. How do you see Ozen's strategy for winning district next year? On offense, slower paced tempo or up-tempo? On defense, more zone or man v man defense? Your thoughts?
. They aren't (according to you) supposed to ever get close, let alone lead-u aren't getting away with this one.  Every word and thought STill does NOT alter the result
Hmmm, don't they require lights out by now where you are? ;D
 20.
Good Season HJ. You represented 21-3A well. Made us proud. Lets get the state Championship next year.
not in 3-A ;)
 21. Yates was never in trouble in this game as bad as they played.
 22. Sure basketball players lift weights, but its targeted towards basketball. For basketball, most reputable trainers target  leg squat movements differently than football.
 23. I agree, as bad as Yates played, they stilll won. Yates defense was horrible. They had a bad game. Most  teams have bad games and LOSE!
