Now then Nederland will be a very good team this year. As a 1987 graduate I would like to express wishes for an excellent season to the players and to fellow classmate Coach English. All I can say is you've got them worried over there in 20-4a. I saw all kinds of scouting going on tonight.
::)

NEDERLAND VS. HARDIN-JEFFERSON BROADCAST/HJ WINS 71-46
This have to be a good team. I know that our defending district champions have lost a lot to graduation with 2 6'5" players in Forney and Smith, but I did expect a more difficult struggle. to come in and beat the defending champs by 20+ says a lot. I know it's early in the season, but still. We beat H-J last year and those young guns Prudohm (sp) and Bosh were a scrappy bunch. With an extra year under their belt and the experience with that deep playoff run, I would imagin that sky is the limit for this team. I want to see their size. I guess I'll see that first hand Friday.
Don't mak any excuses for us..err Nederland. They had their time. Obviously they had me fooled. ;D -

If I could bet on them, I would. Ned will be fine. They just need to work some things out.
It will be hard for them to win state since our 3A region is really good, especially with Mexia (team that knocked HJ out last year.) Dont get me wrong this HJ team is good, but don't under estimate Nederland. That is why you schedule tough teams in the preseason. So it gets you ready for District when it really matters. Nederland has potential, and thats one of the scariest things in Basketball. Great win HJ! Best of luck to both teams on a great and SAFE season.
C'mon boys, back tot he lab! We got A LOT OF WORK to do 8) -

Missing the depth will hurt in this game. Given HJ will have the home - cookin the Hawks win by 15 +. Take it to the bank.
Who is missing besides Kimler and Couron?
Thank you! And.Kimler is a former HF player. Nederland will be fine.

J Brown's First Game of the Season for UT
BLUEDOVE3 replied to bullets13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Really goes to show you how well J. Brown is being advised. That decision to stay @ Texas this year is proving to be a brilliant strategy. -
see what kind of arrogance I have been putting up with thse. years dogs. They really think they can beat the dogpound. Now you see it for yourselves.

I just saw several of the Nederland players checking out some other games in town. I told them not to make me look bad tonight. Their look reassured me I have nothing to worry about tonight.

Its highway 365 out of Nederland and then turns into 326 I believe. Rebounding and turnovers are the key to this one. I think Ned has a small edge in both and wins by 5.
rebounding
OK Dove- I know how much pride you take in your "predictions"- Go ahead and project the rebounding advantage for Nederland that you keep mentioning.
I predict Prudomme will get in foul trouble ;) I can't stand Nederland. I wish it the other way around. Nederland and their fan's egos have gotten a bit too large :o

There are many other possible reasons for trans....err moving in.
Don't you think its interesting/coincidental how most of these "transfers....err move-ins' just happen to be good basketball players?
Hmmm? I think in this area its just a coincidence. ;)

I just don't think HJ has the arsenal to beat Nederland. They will be tough on the boards.
I think you're trying to motivate those Hawks, Dove. We all know that HJ has the 'Arsenal' to beat Nederland or they would not be ranked ahead of Nederland in 'The Dirty Dozen'. I'm obviously pulling for Nederland, but i believe these teams are evenly matched. It will be a great experience for both teams to play in a semi-high pressured game this early in the season in preperation for the remainder of their seasons.
Did Aggie rank HJ ahead of Nederland? I hope not. But Nederland will win tonite.
It seems to me that every school in southeast texas has gotton some move ins or transfers, whatever you want to call them. I dont know an entire lot about Lumberton, but thought they were pretty good in baseball and had a good community and school. Seems like alot of players from Beaumont would move that way.
Thats a good point. Maybe they're moving in for other sports.
