2. Way to go 5 ;) You win the prize. Good job.
 3. Me hear JY needs to boost enrollment by 50 students by Oct to remain 4-A 8) Not really hard to imagine JY losing 200 students ;)  Ah, the possibilities of a shake up in 3-A is looming ;D No more bragging from certain circles ;D

WOW! Sorry HJ! You may be counting only district titles from now on ;D
WIll that have any impact on your state title  predictions for H-F?
Very much so ;)
 5.
This has been a possibility for the past few realignments in the Houston Area.
Oct. 15th or around that date will give us a brief insight to the future.

It seemed that last year's HJ team faded in the 4th quarter in both games against Silsbee. ;) Silsbee plays football, no cross country. ;D
*Ouch*  ;D
 9.
Some believe that when the game gets near the end and everything is on the line, the better conditioned athletes do not let it creep into their mind that they are tired or don't have enough gas left in the tank to "get it done".  The HJ 91 State Championship team ( I mention this only because I know how much you LOVE HJ) had to complete a 15 mile race before the first day of practice in order to make the team. This team, while not particularly athletic, ran nearly every opponent out of the gym and averaged around 100 points per game.  I can personally attest to how that conditioning benefitted the team and was detrimental to the opposition.
I also believe in the 4th quarter conditioning. But surely HJ stopped running cross country after the season started?
 10. Someone mentioned to me last week that their kid participate in cross- country running as off season conditioning. Not sure of the reasoning why this is done unless it gives the players something to do while the gyms are being occupied by volleyball games and practice. I am from the school of thought that cross-country training does not adequately prepare one for basketball. Distance running uses a whole "nother" set of muscle fibers and energy than basketball.
 11.
Dove- In reading all of your posts on the "other" board, it would appear that your are supportive of a system that makes things "more fair" - allowing the poor to have more by taking from the rich- If that is the case, you should be very opposed to any system that allows the good players (the rich) to all gather at a few schools at the expense of the other schools.  In fact, shouldn't you be supporting a system that makes the players at a school like Yates(the rich) split up and be divided among the other "less fortunate" schools in order to level the playing field?
Are you trying to mix in my social beliefs with my athletic beliefs? ;D I will make additional comments in the future :-X
 12.

Funny! There is a 6'7" kid  :-X who lives 8-9 blocks from Jack Yates High. His AAU team sends players to Yates.  His mom  :-X was an All-American/played pro ball overseas, and his paternal grandfather  :-X  was an All-American basketball (I think) player in college. This kid does not attend Yates.  :P
Right. He attends a private school. apples and oranges. ::)
Goes to show why (maybe)JY getting all those move-ins. Their own kids are going to Lamar HS or private schools.

 14.
Did Yates have the 2 recruits, I mean  "communication students" from Africa?
My man Toby! Don't know the other one. They are not major impact players at this time.
 15. OMG!  Some people take smack talking as if a riot may start. Strake Jesuit knew Yates was blowing teams out of the team.
 16. CATMAN, North Shore made it to the semis in the Super 16's @ Jack Yates. Like I said, NS will be a force this year. Strong team
 17. Sunday is reserved for the "Big Dogs."  ;D

Sounds like Ned had a respectable showing. Who do they play tomm?
Not playing tomorrow .
18. Actually its a good opp for the Nederland kids. There will be some media types to look at the big (name) boys. ESPN.com and Atlanta based CourtCred.com just to name a couple. Maybe one, maybe two  Nederland players will have a coming out game and receive some national exposure. That would be great for your program. Like I've said before, I've always admired Coach English for taking on the bigger programs and not running scared, unlike some other programs (which will remain nameless) in this area. 8)
They played this kind of talent all summer in Houston. They will do fine. They will use this kind of tourney to help them mesh together and get ready for the season. Gonna be a hard team to beat Dove!  ;)
i think you guys are coming into the tourney on an upside. St. Thomas & Kingwood in the past were more dominant but I feel Nederland was put into the weakest pool to give you guys a little hope to take back home ;D
Weakest pool?? I'm not so sure, wouldn't that be the pool with HF and Ozen ;D :o.......C'mon dove give the dogs a little credit will ya :D
Okay, you guys had a really good 7th grade team last year.  ;D
 20. I don't think it happens this way. They look at the schools in this area as out of towners trying to play basketball. So they gives us a break in pool play. ;) quote author=Honest Abe link=topic=89026.msg1069621#msg1069621 date=1317398854] Of course! Every time Ned goes to Houston, coach E asks the tourney directors to take it easy on his team.  ;D

Better bring their A game..... DI    Silsbee defeats Huffman DII  WOS defeats Cleveland DII  Coldspring defeats Bridge City
I think thats a good assesment. Out of those the closest has to be the Tigers-Falcons.
