I like the way English rings his guys to Houston. He understands the value of evaluating his players against better players.

With HJ dropping out of the Silsbee summer tournament this week, it may be time for local coaches to look at the future for local summer tourneys in July. I predict there will be a trend where your better players will miss many of the local events in July. The NCAA has provided a small window of opportunity for kids to participate in 'live events" where college coaches can come and see the upcoming talent. As more kids and summer coaches become aware of this, I predict most will opt out of local summer tourneys during the month of July and participate in these live events. Not only HJ but another local high school has several players not participating, but have enough players to make up for it.

You should recognize several others on the team from other local teams. [/quote]Must be GMI Live Event. You really can't blame them for dropping out. I said they should have changed the dates a week later. NCAA has provided a small window of opportunity for these kids to play in "live events." Its going to become a problem in the future (local summer tourneys) because many kids in this area are now playing with AAU teams and the coaches are finding out what the big programs are doing with their kids for exposure.

We don't complain too much because we are playing summer AAU to put our kids in venues with better competition, and I know a lot of AAU boys will be "playing up" in high school and will face older kids, however when there are specific age divisions it would be nice if people adhered to this. Winning isn't everything, and cheating is cheating. I won't mention the specific team but in the Team Sneed tournament July 2-3 one 13 yr old team had a CONFIRMED 15 yr old playing. I don't put full blame on AAU, the rules are in place but the coaches and parents who participate in this should be ashamed......oh well, off of one soapbox and on to the next [/quote]Question? Was this event an AAU sanctioned event. All youth tournaments are not sanctioned by AAU. I know quite a few kids who played in this tourney and they didn't have AAU cards.
