Sorry, you need a coach who will recognize, recruit, and get the talent of players who can compete at a mid-major conference. The talent pool ain't that great out there once you start looking at the 100-200 players in the lower rankings.

 4. There are lazy athletes. Those who know what it takes and want to do and get better will condition, along with a little pushing from the parents, of course ;D

Not that he isn't good enough in my eyes, but I just don't think OU will take that chance. I am hoping they pass on him and he can become LU's next coach.
*Gulp* I agree with you 8)

That's down from the 843 turned in for realignment in Oct. '09. This pace, Silsbee could be 2A in 6 years.  ;) ;D
Maybe then they could win it all ;D ;D  Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to easy aggies!!!!!!!!!
Exactly! ;)

 12. And since we are mentioning *perception* lets us perceive that if BISD begin to layoff people, the SUP will reduce his salary if the contract allows it. I do remember some years ago he refused a pay raise ;)
 13.
I seriously doubt Lamar will hire Abatemarco. I think Cyprien isn't getting enough mention. It should be noted he has a good friend(s) that work in the AD. I also keep hearing that LU is leaning toward hiring a minority coach.
Evans has the best credentials to fit the Lamar job.

He has taken a program that was treading water a few years ago and transformed the Pirates into a state ranked program. He has done it with discipline and hard work. His teams are always prepared and well coached. You have to beat them, they will not beat themselves. They're trip tho Austin and the State Tournament 2 years ago is just one example of his ability to lead a program. And this year, after being hit hard by graduation, he gets the Pirates into the Regional Quarterfinals. I have never spoken to anyone who has anything bad to say about Coach Isaacs. He is fine coach and a better person. My 2 cents.
Could not have said it better myself. Coach Isaacs is a good one and would have my endorsement for the HF job. I believe he would do quite well wherever he goes.
And thank you Coach's  expert

 16.
article in coaching management about Butler's weight training program....here are some excerpts: "From June to August our lifting is voluntary but we have great attendance..." "During the summer our athletes perform a four-day upper body/lower body split routine..." "During the fall we stay with the same four day lifting schedule..." "It has been my experience that basketball players do best when the workouts are short and frequent (35-45 min)" "When official practices begin and the season is around the corner we cut down to three days a week....we also back off on leg work because the players legs take such a pounding during practices and games..." "For instance, squats are pased out in favor of body weight work, lunges, and step ups in the 10 to 12 range..." "Once the game schedule begins, we pare down our weightlifting even more.  When playing two to three games and practicing three to four times per week, there isn't much time left for strength work.  Still, our goal is to get in two weekly lifting sessions.  Because we are focused on winning games, not building weightlifters, the last thing I wasnt to do is wear a player down in the weightroom.  That's why our basic approach is to perform total-body lifts for 30 minutes during these sessions, supersetting opposing muscle groups." "As the season advances, we back off another 10 percent or more.  And in the postseason we do almost no leg work other than some step ups, lunges, and hamstring curls." "I consider our approach to in-season lifting very successful.  In fact, eight days after that game (2010 championship game), we administered the 185-pound bench press rep test and found that the team maintained just over 90% of its preseason strength baseline."
Excellent points! Basketball is wear and tear on your legs during the season. Some kids play organized ball 9 months out of the year.

 18. Seen too many X'S and O's coaches with all the knowledge but can't get their team to respond in tight situations.

This years team should be faster with a few additions from JV.
Real cute dove... coach bates do not play favorites and he get after kids if they are not playing to their full ability. If not you are playing summer ball with aau team then you better be at open gym after football workouts. you will find a hard time finding the floor durning basketball season.
Sounds refreshing to me. Don't like coaches who play favorites either. But his JV team didn't too well did it?
 21. :D I had to write two notes this morning explaining that my senior high kid need a break from the weights for a week and the middle schooler should not be doing knee bends. The knee bend directions came from a very qualified personal trianer out of Houston. ;) I really don't mind the weight lifting but in moderation with very active student-athletes.

He has proven at multiple stops he is not a good coach at all. He doesn't win. Where does he get this reputation as a great coach?
You can't look at record as a coach only. Tubbs was a huge failure in his second stay at Lamar. Abatemarco was the last coach at Lamar to win 20 games. I remember how excited I was to see his 3rd year. Abatemarco got ran out of town because of his mouth. He went to Drake and he became a coach that is known for verbally abusing players, just like Bobby Knight. The difference between Knight and Abatemarco is Knight was tolerated. Abatemarco went on to coach in many places including the WNBA. He has grown up and is wiser. At least that is what I saw in an interview. Cross, Evans, and Skelton look very good on paper. However I am very nervous about them. I am sick of  losing at Lamar and do not feel like waiting 3-4 years for a new coach to build a program AND on the job DI training. Lamar should be dominating the SLC. I'm am 99.9 percent sure Abatemarco could in his first year.
It's that missing 0.1% I'm worried about ;D
 23. The coach (name?) at the Oklahoma D- 2 school would be a good consideration. He's won at all levels he coached. He obviously would be recruiting the same caliber of players Lamar has been recruiting and turn them into winners.
