I don't know, I can't speak for others.... and to be honest, I can't speak for HJ. The HJ football coach/AD is the announcer at our games. I truly think there should be pep rallies at the beginning of the season, the beginning of play-offs and certainly when they head off to state. But that's just my opinion.
Question: If HJ was going to State in football ( :D ::) ), would HJ have pep rallies?
Is it more likely that aforementioned pep rally will be held for the HJ football team or the HF basketball team?
At HF, I'm glad the cheerleaders show up.

According to Fox 4, Roc has cleaned out office
Bad reporting? According to Steve Roccaforte, cleaning out his office is "totally false."
Thanks! I was getting ready to go over to his office for free stuff. -
I know who that was directed at. If you have several players who can create their own shot, I wonder if sharing the ball might become an issue. Additionally, many of those "created" shots are not necessarily good shots and I see nothing wrong with a shot being "created" via a team effort.
And shooting a 3 pointer under-handed ;)

This all sounds much less like whining and excuse making if it weren't after we got our butts handed to us by a better team. Right now it sounds like frustration, finger pointing and a search for why we lost. If Brian doesn't like the situation, he has options, he's a hot commodity. All in all, I think it's working out pretty well. I bet we could've traded coaching staffs with Ball, and they still woulda won by 20. Fact is that English can build this program with Rocky and Bulwinkle as his assistants, no offense to our current asst coaches. He's got the energy flowing, the numbers are out of this world, kids playing little dribblers, can barely find a seat on the fresh/jv benches they're so full, why do folks want to play this card. Is Neumann going to make decisions that people disagree with, yep. Will it keep Nederland basketball from being an elite program, nope. Is Neumann gonna get run outta town over the basketball program, nope. But none of this has anything to do with why we lost Friday... has to do with one team being superior to the other. You're not going to find a great situation in many TEXAS high schools regarding a basketball program getting everything they want, this is TEXAS, ie FOOTBALL. There are places like, Indiana/Kentucky/NC, where it's different. I freakin hate it when people try to ruin a great thing. You run Neumann out and you'll get another Football coach/AD who will do the same dang thing. Neumann is about as good as you're going to do, get over it, move on, get better.
Newsflash- There ARE programs in Texas where basketball and football both excel!!!
Words of wisdom from a master. ;)

We're going to be fine either way but a nice, positive "addition" wouldn't hurt either! ;) I liked the Haynes/Holmes "trade" from last summer. :D :D
Oh okay, common to transfer without intervention from UIL or Aggie, huh? Thats good ;)
I am a big part of both the "Nederland Drill Team", or as most people call us the Westernaires, and a part of the basketball program as well. Coach Jardell was not just at Disney on vacation. He was there watching his daughter, who is the Senior 1st Lt., compete for the last time. His trip was paid for, in full, before basketball season had even started. Coach English told him that as long as he got them to the Regional Tournament, he could go be a dad to his daughter, and Coach Jardell did just that. If any of you are parents yourself I would hope you would pick your child over your job as well. Khilchrist, Jardell, and Joshua Pillitere have both been great assistants to Coach English this year. This has been a great season for both the boys, coaches, managers, and myself. This will be a season they remember forever. Congrats Dogs on an awesome season! The city of Nederland could not be more proud of every single one of them.
wOW! Good job! You have haters in your own town. I guess we better prepare for it at HF too ;)

And the sad part is that Cleveland can't do anything to shake this reputation until another year. Just like the year before and b4 that one too.

These are just a few things i find wrong about this years all disrict selections: (1) How come the entire Ozen starting 5 makes the list , but the 14-0 Ditrict Champs Nederland only get 3 !?!?!? (2) Speaking of Ozen, how does a kid(Green) get 1st team even though he doesnt play the entire second half of district. 2nd team at best, he aint no senior. (3) Since we r on the Ozen topic still, Ieans (Defensive Player of The Year)......Really?!? This kid couldnt hold his own against any post in this district and this ditrict aint known anymore for good post play. (only Nederland had some) (4)To the Vidor(supposedly gonna win district with that great 19-0 start) Story, this team finishes in the rock bottom of this district and gets 2 kids in the 1st team. Williamson is a great player and kid, but his numbers were way down from previous years....so i say second team at best. Mancebo was the real threat for vidor, so i do give credit for putting him 1st team. (5) Even dang Central got more picks than Nederland, Central cant even win a playoff game. Go figure that one out? (6)Livingston now, they get 3 (sophmore) picks, heck nederland cant even get more picks than a team that didnt make the playoffs. We can agree that Zach English(soph) is a better player than 2 of those kids. (7)Too many under classmen on this list, u gotta give it to kids that this is there last chance at making it then the juniors come up and so on and so forth. Like, Mike Mitchell (2nd team) or Josh Wagner (Defensive MVP) Wagner shut down a lot of good guards this year.
First of all, I commend you for some good points. At the same time, you have some extremely silly points here. First of all, This is about awards based on players. Nederland was a great all around team. Nederland had a few really good players that carried this team... (Forney, Smith, Cunningham, and Mitchell). The rest of the players (with the exception of the Freshman) would not start on any of the other 3 playoff teams. Central had stud players. Maybe not a good 'team' or good coaching, but great players. Ozen had Ieans. You talk as if he wasn't a good defensive player, but I bet my check he led this district in blocked shots or altered shots. He's the tallest kid in district and always gets his hands on shots or layups. Ozen also had a team full of playmakers. Another thing while I remember. Central and Ozen had players on their team that can create their own shot, making them good. Whereas PN-G had Doty that could do this, Central and Ozen had plenty. Ozen's Green did miss a lot of games, but he is on the top tier of good players in this district. I think it was good that he was on the list.
Hmmm? SOME PEOPLE ::) on this forum feel creating your own shot isn't that important. But standing still and shooting an underhand set shot is more challenging. :D

Who will be SETX player of the year
BLUEDOVE3 replied to BADSANTA's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Personally, I think the little pg from HJ made the difference on that team, Gustafson (sp?). Maybe his name should be put in the pot. No one really expected HJ to go anywhere (other than their own fans ::) -
Sorry Dove, people on here have been trying to tell you and I guess you have not been listening. It's not the coach! Don't care whos on the list, you want even get the best on the list, once they here the words.universallllllllllllllllllllllllll off-seasonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. You don't and can't understand it though, unless you have dealt w it before. Progress comes to a screetching halt. You can talk AAU til the cows come home! There is no teaching in the AAU circuit, just playingggggggggggggggggggggggg, and some smooozing for a kid or 2. Cant wait to hear this rebuttle!!!!!!!
??? I'm listening.. I hear you but not quite sure here because you've jumped on several topics in one breath. There is a lot of weight training going on at HF, I agree. Sounds like too much during the season. Looking at the kid's skill set, they need to be in the gym working on basketball. My 9th grader was coming home and his body was sore and used up from weight training, basketball practice, games, etc, etc.
NOTHING AGAINST DOVE BUT THE ONLY WAY I SAY HF MAKES A DECENT PLAYOFF RUN IS IF THEY HIRE A NEW COACH. I MEAN THEY HAD A PRETTY DECENT THIS YEAR AND COULDVE EASILY MADE THIRD PLACE.
I agree with you. My same issues. They could have made a strong move to get third place, but didn't.

Possible LU Basketball Coaches
Skelton is a great coach, but I think he is pretty content in MS where his family is from. Maybe we will reach out to him though. I hear from some rival's sites that BCG has his eyes on the TT and Wyoming jobs... we'll just have to see what happens.
So, back to square one and getting our typical coaches to apply :'( -
