The question is, did this player who only played 1.5 quarters and ended up being the high scorer for HF get the majority of his points in what some call "garbage time" during the last half of the 4th? ;) That is what I was told. ;)
And I bet he text you and you both agreed to not start the HF starters in the 4th against HJ because HF might keep the score too close and there might be a slight justification to play his beloved seniors in their last game.
 2.

An HJ player......here is how the sequence went down:  After HF scored a bucket a HF player pushed a HJ player in the back, the HJ player respond by pushing back......first tech called.  Then the two players (oe from HF and one from HJ bowed up to each other and 2nd tech called only on HJ player.  All happened within 5 seconds of each other.  It was all right in front of both benches.  Funny thing was that the HF players were laughing about it like it was planned or something.  Regardless the HJ player was removed from the game and from the gym.  He had to sit in locker room the rest of the game.  Was handled very poorly by officials IMO!!!!
How much time was left in the game when this happened? I mean, was it before the 3:38 when the coach "gave up", as others have indicated?  And if so, why did the coach give in with HJ's best player out? Or was it afterward, and this was a bench player that went out to start trouble?
Good question! It helps dig a deeper hole for the HF coach's action. The starters were in at the time
NOW YOU FINALLY SEE THE LIGHT!!! LOL...this is what we've been talking about all season...you said the magic words "Gave up"...that's what this coach does.  He has been doing it all season and IMO if you're gonna do that you're not a coach.  3:38 is a lot of time and trailing by 15 is not a blow-out with that kind of time left.  My question to you is: What gave YOU (and anyone else who want to answer)the indication that he had given up?  I'm really interested to see the answers I get from this question.
Here is another question: Why is it that he did not start his main players at the beginning of the 4th period? Especially if he gave up on starters later in the 4th only to install "his" seniors to finish the 4th. ::)

 5. Just realized I'lll be cheering for the H$wks after tonight in post-season play. Hmm! Weird

Period. Games are won and loss at the line, except in an completely embarrassing game. The first type of shot that should be taught to a kid is a free-throw. This way they can develop muscle-memory and perfect a stroke that gets the ball in the hoop. I agree that too many kids are worried about the pre-shot more than the actual mechanics. Top 3 things in basketball that win games: 1) Free-Throw Shooting (Makes) 2) Rebounding Difference 3) Turnover Difference
#1 is defense! This will take care of the top three you mentioned.
Doesnt out-rebounding the other team and forcing more tunrovers go along with Defense? Come on Dove ;) I know better than that
yeah! yeah! yeah! I'll give you that much  :P

Give me the ammunition HF players  to really DISCUSS our chances at half time. Lets go out on a winning note.
Whoa! Wait a minute. I need to fully understand where you are coming from with this.  What is your definition of playing in front of big crowds on Tuesday and Friday nights? Nderland crowds or Fort Bend Bush crowds?
I 'm talking full houses regardless of the size of the venue. You used HJ as a light hearted jab but look at the situation seriously for a second.Ryan and Jarvis were great local players who play in a very small school in Kansas. They were 2 of the very best in SETX, the years they graduated, now imagine for a minute someone transferring over there to play with them. What kind of opportunity would have been there for for them ??Just something for parents to think about before they move just to get their kids in a certain school to play a sport.
Okay. I understand now where you're going. I agree! I f for example, I had kids and wanted to trasnfer for athletic purposes, you would want to scout the talent and the coach. But you better be a Big Dog. Kinda like wanting to go to UT as a freshman next year. Better make sure there is a fit for you.

 23.
One more thing, how do administrations and school boards REALLY know what they are getting when they hire a coach? They are making a decision based on an interview and past records. I mean that coach has a high winning percentage. Does that mean he/she is a good coach. I don't think so, not in all cases. Maybe they just had talent. Its a guessing game 50/50 chance. Unless you have been to a practice/game and watched the coach work the kids you really don't know what you are getting. IMO more research needs to done when hiring a coach. If that means driving 300 miles then drive 300 miles. Even if you find the right guy/lady, Orangefield and Hamphire Fannett will never be able to comete (boy side) on a regular bases as long as we are in this district. Can we compete? Yes we can but not year end and year out unless both communities start growing at a rapid pace. I hate to say that but it is true. I would rather Orangefield not grow, Small communities are special, close knit.
I thought Silsbee and Sour Lake were small communities?
 24.

I can understand Dove and Mom08 frustration. Here is the reason, I have a lot of friends from HF that I met through the years in Little Dribblers and believe me the rivalry was just as intense as it was 30 years ago.(Orangefield) That being said, while the girls team have had some success just not the succes they should have. Here is an example, the 2007 class when they were 9 & 10 won nationals in Little Dribblers. They had some talent but when they got to high school they never made the playoffs. Still scratching my head on that one. The 2008 class beat us in Little Dribblers and in Junior High. Never beat us in high school. Still scratching my head. I do realize that you cannot compare Little dribblers and Junior High to high school. Things change when you get to high school. Some kids mature in junior high most do not until they get to high school. Some kids quit, some lose interest, some fall in love and then they start driving. There is a lot of things that changes for a kid once he/she goes to high school. Wish I had the answer but I don't.
. Maybe the kids at the other schools didnt have to spend as much time lifting weights and were thus able to improve their skills as well as understanding how the game is played?
Now that is an excellent point S.N
