HJ did a great job and was the better team tonight as the score reflected...despite all of HF's multi-faceted problems. Balls in the basket and solid defense wins games. So I am gonna end this night on the high road...but please know my lip is bleeding cause I am biting it so dang hard. Great seeing all you guys tonight! Prudomme and Bosha did an awesome job tonight.
You know, I gotta admit, I'm beginning to wonder if you guys are right. There was a lot of talent on the floor tonight and it wasn't all HJ players. I mentioned it above, but I think the thing that beat ya'll was: a) fundamentals and b) discipline These are things that are taught..........
Yeah I know, many feel we're just a bunch of whining parents at HF. I use to think it was the parents whining and lack of talent. Now that I see it for myself, I feel the frustration now and have to admit the parents have some valid concerns. But, the coach is the leader and the kids are still suppose to hustle, rebound and dive for loose balls. Those things they (the players) have control of to offset those other variables that are setting them back. -
Way to go hawks!!!!! Congrats to the freshman ( Bosha) for his 21 pt game. Who was the trash talker referring to this summer with team Sneed? Do you still want to talk? Or did he show you better than I can tell you?
??? Bosha played a great game. I shook his hand and told him so. Look, I tried to recruit Bosha to HF. ;D But even you should admit Donte Smith held him down in the game. Bosha stated driving and scoring when the HF coach decided to put our "select" players to guard him. -
Why wouldn't any good coach try to arouse the interest of scouts for his players sake? What better way to say " I'm the greatest coach ever" than to have your players leave your program for a scholarship @ the next level.
If you're players are truly good, college coaches probably know about the kid(s) already ;)
Thats why it is important to play in venues with 'superstars" because as they are watching them, Little Johnny might have something that draws their attention ;)
Not to mention it prepares you for a tough district race!
??? Oh, the "tough" race and not the district :D

Can Nederland win state this year?
If they make it out of Region 3, then they have a great chance.. But Nederland will have to go through LaMarque and/or G-ball and/or Yates... Tough road to get there, but it can be done.. They a better chance than a lot of other 4A teams out there, not just our region :D
You thought it was funny too, huh? :D -
Bmrm that's not talking against them. Its just my opinion. I would like to see them win it all or at least get to the title game, but they had some serious off nights. A lack of focus can hurt this late in the season.
SANTA raise some very good points. -

Maybe he will find out he is not as good as he thinks. If he is good in AAU he will get recognition. College scouts attend many of the AAU tournaments, and many of the younger kids are followed by college scouts throughout their AAU years. A kid has to consistently compete against the best to be considered as one of the best. AAU provides this forum.
Yep! But I gotta give it to English, he brings his boys to the Big Dogs and let them get their feet wet on the circuit.
you are correct! He finds tournaments for his kids to compete in all summer long. His season does not start in August when school starts. It starts the day after the end of the season and he doesn't stop. The reason recruiters now about his kids is b/c he brings them to places where they can be seen. He also brought in MAJOR competition to the Nederland Classic this yr.
Playing in the summer leagues with the Big Dogs helps a player find his weaknesses, because they will be exposed ( da weaknesses)

so against of it's not as likely, but hardly illogical? ;) ;) The average point differential of all district games has nothing to do with the average point differential of Silsbee's games!!
Based on the statistics presented, it would certainly NOT be illogical since the average margin of victory (before the last game) was about 49 points per game. If you include the last game, the average margin is still just under 45 points per game. Since said logical predictions were statistically based, could one conclude that logic dictates a predicted victory margin of between 45 and 49 in the second round?
Unless you take in that variable of over-confidence, too cocky, we got dis, and looking ahead to HF ;)
And true in a lot of cases ;)
And not true in some cases. ;) I do agree it is a funny video but I also know that there are players at HF who work on their weaknesses before practice, after practice, during the summer, at home, attend camps, play AAU, summer ball, work out with strength and conditioning trainers and when they play bad their parents are the hardest on them and not always telling them that they are the best but instead there to support them and provide the tools they need to get better. Kids these days want the easy way out and for everything to be handed to them and some don't want to work for what they want.
true! 8)
HF didn't play with the intensity they had against Silsbee. Plus Silsbee missed a bunch of easy shots and bad passes. ;)
Correction Blue - Silsbee was only missing their 2nd best player and their head coach which make up the team! :)
yeah, and if HF had a different coach, they'd "handle HJ". just like they would've handled WOS, i presume?
I'm not saying that at all. "It is what it is."
i wasn't directing that at you, blue. mom there wants to throw my words back in my face, so i'll be happy to throw her own asinine words back in hers.
oH I know. ;) -
If they would have backed up the....loss..with a respectable score against WOS, then maybe I could see where some might be confused that they have more or equal talent to HJ, but they didn't because of the coach, it's never the players, it's that darn coach. The better team still won (Silsbee) it just wasn't by a lot.
Basketball is a funny game. Its hard to get up for competition when you have no respect towards a weaker team. The Silsbee players were loose and jovial before the game, which is good. But I also saw a lack of focus on their part. Their poor play throughout the game gave HF the confidence that they could hang with Silsbee that night. I saw the same attitude with Galveston Ball when they played Silsbee. Ball did not take Silsbee seriously ;) -
Yep, I still some teams playing to not getting blown out. Then walk around after the game as if they really accomplished something. ::)
