2. If I was a bookie, I'd take all bets on this one. The game we've all been waiting for since district started. Can HJ continue their dominance againt HF, or will HF become the spoiler? Miracles do happen folks.

And all of my predictions are close. Sorry! :'(
Dove- Because of your predictive capabilities, I am going to go ahead and ask you that "if" Hj makes the playoffs and "if" they win enough playoff games to ultimately face Cleveland, should they forfeit and avoid the embarrassment?  What do you think will happen "if" the Longhorns somehow get to the playoffs and ultimately encounter Cleveland?
I'm a practical person. HJ should play Cleveland for the experience ;D HF ain't going to playoffs this year.
 4. Well, looks like Central may not have that job opening afterall 8)

 6.
Do you think Coach Richard is simply investing in the future, knowing that his team is going to be stronger in the coming years and teaching them to play with 10 players instead of 5?  I mean, I know that if I was going to play 20 minutes instead of 29 or 30, I could go all out and play with a higher level of intensity.
I think its more investing with the present. The HF coach knows exactly what lineup to use that will give them the maximum effort to compete. I've seen him do it ONCE! He's a good guy and wants all his players to play and I can understand this position. Thats how we play in middle school and its fun for the kids. But you have entitled kids in that hs program :D
At the risk of incurring the wrath of of the various hate/fan clubs that seem to exist in H-F, as a WO-S graduate I find the tact that this thread has taken as a bit disrespectful toward the victorious Mustangs.  It makes it sound like a 23 point victory (in which at times late in the game the lead was 30) can be attributed solely at the alleged missteps of Coach Richards.  I would like to set out an alternative theory that I know may be dismissed as implausible...that not only was Coach Wilkins the better coach but that the Mustangs were the better team.
:D ;)
 8. Actually I thought Richards coached a better game tonight with his subs. I got there late and must have missed him taking out his five starters.
 9.
No offense BD, but that is what everyone has said the last two years.  Yet HJ finds a way to win and Cleveland finds a way to choke, self destruct, beat themselves...whatever the case may be, they just can't find a way to not beat themselves.  It is never "HJ wins"  it is always "Cleveland chokes" so i will stick with that theme. You're not going to bite on the HF portion of the post?
AAW has convinced me that HF will not make playoffs this year.  :(

Oddly enough, he leads the NBA in scoring. Furthermore, I think it might be a serious mistake to fully define athleticism as muscles/speed only.  Much of it, in my opinion has to do with hand-eye coordination and development of same.  Its difficult for me to believe that lifting can help that as much as repetition of the selected athletic movement.
Your omniscience is being validated, sir.
Yeah I sometimes feel it truly is a divine gift ;D
 17. Man, you covered several topics in your thread (EC coach).Personally, I don't think an AD should set policies on weight lifting unless the training is geared towards a specific sport. But I also think each individual coach should have his own workout/weight lifting program in place or a specialist to run specific workouts for the athletes. As far as coaches, they have always been under pressure especially when a program has a tradition for winning. Oh, I have no problem with the weight lifting as long as it's not dealing with standing knee bends in middle school.  ;)

 19.
Silsbee hasn't been a full team for a game and a half. Look for them to jump out early and often. I tell you what, it seems that the games are alot closer this year than in the the past.  Could be a time where Orangefield, BC, and HF are fight for the top. Never know.
::)
 20.
HF will be 1 and 4 starting 2half of dist. Their chance of playoffs left as soon as the OF was over. Get out the gloves and warmup the arms, Baseball season is comming soon.
Good observation! Very good chance for a playoff run before the OF loss.

 22.

Before I say anything,  let me say I was impressed by HF tonight.  They played hard and played good.  To answer  some of your questions Lazeek,  the Tigers are definitely missing Coach T.  I have faith in both Collins and Brooks but right now something is missing.  Not blaming either of these 2.  And yes the Tigers missed Lane as.  His length could have made a difference on the defensive end and he would have helped on the boards and offensive end as well. We also didn't have the depth we are used to.  Only played 9 players tonight  suited 10 counting Lane.   HF could very well be a playoff contender if they keep plyaing like this.  Their height was tough for the Tigers to deal with and they handled the pressure fairly well most of the time.  And just like the predictions on here maybe the Tigers did overlook the Horns a little bit.  I bet that part won't happen in Silsbee. The Tigers are definately not playing their best ball right now.  Offense looked sluggish and too much complaining about the game instead of playing it.  I really thought the Tigers would have a fairly easy night but HF didn't let that happen.  Great effort by them.  And way to hang in there and get the win Tigers.
Silsbee is not playing like the same team that I saw nearly beat Galveston Ball and the team that beat Westbrook.  Yeah, you're dealing with 15-16 year old boys, but that's where coaching comes into play.  Collins and Brooks ARE doing their best in place Coach T, but being in the hot seat(s) is not as easy once you're the one responsible for the decision [and not just a recommendation].   Here's a question to that point ... why didn't we spread it out with a 7-9 point lead with less than a minute left? Instead, we continued to push it up tempo with missed shots and turnovers, giving H-F at least 2-3 extra possessions in that last minute; fortunate for us they did not capitalize.  I hope there is enough time to rectify these mistakes once T gets back.   Perhaps best case scenario for the Tigers is a tie for district with H-J.  Why? That gives us an extra game with then with top seed on the line.  If we win, great then we can schedule a a tough warm up game against a solid 4A squad with a buy.  If we loose and end up 2nd seed, well then we don't have to worry about a bye, get right into playoff action, with a probable match up against Cleveland for the right to go to SHSU. Finally, Prentice IS important to this team; but as a team. They play best when they get good, crisp ball movement, movement without the ball and unselfish play.
Yep, kinda like Galveston Ball didn't take Silsbee seriously ;)
Ignorance - A state of being uninformed (lack of knowledge).  I have nothing to prove to you nor anyone else here but I would have to say you don't know me because I am not at all "uninformed" nor do I "lack knowledge" about the statement that I made and stand by.  Again I say, I'm not beating any chests nor am I bragging about a loss but it seems to me that you are making excuses (silsbee being without "probably" their 2nd best player and their head coach) as most people do after their predictions don't pan out.  Your statement sounds a little "ignorant" because if you have to say "probably" then I would think that is falls under uninformed/lack of knowledge.  If you're so sure of yourself then you would know whether or not whomever you refer to as being the 2nd best player is really the 2nd best player.  If you're going to quote BD then get it right...he stated "the HF staff played to lose and not make it a blowout".  HF staff needs to start "playing to WIN and not make it a blowout" and have confidence in the players they have.  I've been around these players much longer than the HF staff and I know (that's having knowledge) what talent HF has.
sorry i paraphrased that quote... quite ignorant of me to assume you'd understand.  and yes, i'll plead some ignorance as to the best players on silsbee's squad.  i know about them, but not well enough to say who's 2nd or 3rd best behind DC.   if i'm interpreting this statement correctly "I (hfmom) would be brave enough to say "If HF would stop coaching like it's Little Dribblers, we COULD handle Silsbee and anyone else in our district THIS YEAR" then you're saying essentially that HF would be at the top of this district with a different coaching staff.  you can say that that isn't an ignorant statement all you want, but you'd be wrong.  again, HF is certainly improved this year, but they're looking at 2 losses to silsbee, 2 to HJ, probably 2 to WOS, the loss you've already picked up against OF, and that's 7 if they win every other game.  Young Mr. Hunter makes a difference, but he's not going to make that big of a difference just yet.
He did not make any difference Friday night. All he did was foul, fouling out at the end of the 3rd, with just 2 points, 1 assist.
Well..obviously this is personal. Now, after my investigation...the plan was for him not to have the ball. The plan was to have "Frenchie" handle the ball coming down the court-he's taller to see over the press..from what I was told. This is the ONLY game where J. Hunter has only scored 2pts and did not handle the ball! The ball was virtually designed to be out of his hands...believe me, I asked b/c I had never seen this b/4 in the 3 previous games. Check the STATS Aggie since you have a direct line to OUR books. Now if Aggie would give a little more media time to HF instead of running behind Silsbee all season, you would know first hand what he brings to this team in the 4 games he has played, not just from this one game. Now if you want a debate and possibly a fight about J. Hunter...then it's on! He works hard on the floor-100% constantly having to help out on defense when a man has been beaten. He is aggressive! Yes, I will not deny..he does foul....A LOT! So, Aggie, I invite you out more often and I surely invite you to OUR Stat Books and then maybe your reporting will be more crediable!
I called it like I saw it. Hunter did not have a good game in this particular game therefore he wasn't a difference maker in THIS GAME!!! Never have I said that he wasn't or would not be a difference maker in previous or future games. I have stated that he has a bright future and will be a good one, eventually. But it did not show in this ONE game against Silsbee. According to MY game stats (which I keep for every broadcast) Hunter had just 2 points, 1 assists, 5 turnovers and 5 fouls, in limited minutes (due to foul trouble). That's all I was reporting. Never suggested he was not a good player, nor implying that he would never be a good player. Just calling it like I saw it. Martin is the name of the foreign exchange student (figured you would know the name of the players). He had a very good game, scoring 20 and help bringing the ball up the floor. Smith also played well, scoring 13 and playing solid defense. As for why I follow Silsbee, I have been broadcasting all of Silsbee athletics (football, basketball, baseball, softball) here on this site for going on 3 years now. SETXsports has a contract with SISD and I get paid to broadcast these games. Pretty natural fit in that I am a Silsbee alum, former athlete and still reside in Silsbee. My family is all about Silsbeee Tiger athletics (still have a son at SHS, other son graduated in '10). So, I'll be "running behind" Silsbee long after you and your sons have either finished at HF or have transfered out, which ever comes first. ;) That's as "logical" as I can get. ;) ;D
I agree with your assessment Aggie, but where did the "transfer" come from?  ;D
 24.
All you do is gripe about the coaching Blue.  If you have such strong feelings about it then go somewhere else.  I am sure that you would be welcomed with open arms at HJ or Silsbee.
Nope, I gripe about how he subs. I'm not the only one who notices this, several other HF supporters know this. I'm just the one who really don't care what you, the coach, or others think. ;)
