You going to be broadcasting some games AAW?
Yes. I will be at the Dog Dome broadcasting some of these tourney games and updating the ones I do not broadcast. I'll be there everyday from the start of the first game on Thursday to the finish of the championship game on Saturday.
Maybe I could stop by the table and visit then  8)
TABLE Come on by, I'll be up on the stage.
God, I was tempted to respond but my computer is on my LAP and I really should have it on the TABLE before it DANCE away. But I'm not ready to be banned just yet. :D

First of all, we can't continue to try and interchange NBA players and their style against high school players in this area. Some weeks ago, many of us agreed that the talent pool in high school for this area is far below the previous talent pool to come out of SETex. Bird was a player maker, more like todays point forwards. I've been limited to seeing high school play in this area but I am going to assume that you may have 10 or less impact players in this area. I thought the original questioning was about high school players. Futhermore, I'm not comparing no players to Larry BIRD, AI, Rondo, etc. because the majority of these kids today treat my game like a hobby. They don't know any history of the game, can't dribble, can't shoot, and keep tripping over their own feet. Bird didn't have a X-Box.
Does your next to last sentence accurately describe your personal perception of a "spot up shooter"?
Stevie, remind me to not send you a Thanksgiving pie to your family next year. Always trying to twist stuff ;) I have much respect for spot-up shooters, but they are boring as hell when they are off.

I really wish Ozen would have hired him because they could really use the discipline that he brings to the table. And you know why it was front page news? Because they know it is the best basketball program in the area! Sorry but if Hamshire-Fannett or Orangefield had the same rules it would not be on the front page and not even be in the sports section. It is safe to say Silsbee basketball is the area's equivalent of WO-S football.
::) ::) ::) So narrow minded.........win a state title then you might be considered the best basketball program in the area!!!!!  Several ahead of you in SE Texas!!!!
See, heres a perfect example of why I like winning and being a Big Dog. It gives you room to be arrogant.  ;)
 4.
Yes Dove......Saveat and Boutte had each been contacted.  HJ tried to get Ozen in a warmup game in 2007 and Ozen said no!!!
Show me a contract. I don't believe you!
 5.
No miracles, just hard work and the kids being on the same page.  Execution is better and playing defense.  Things are starting to gel.
Hmm? I don't think I've ever read or heard anything about your high school basketball program, other than Little Dribblers.
 6.

just a question....why is it that hj seems to play most people in ozens district but wnt play them. I think it wld possibly be a pretty good game.
Or maybe it's Ozen who chooses not to play HJ. ;)
Exactly...........HJ has requested to play Ozen the last three years and Ozen has declined.  HJ asked to play Ozen in the Fred Williams this year and Ozen once again declined!!!  Not saying that HJ would win, but it is NOT HJ that is keeping this matchup from happening!!!
Did you guys ask when Boutte was there? Ozen's talent took a slight dip several years ago. Not saying they can't beat HJ ;D
 7. I have the perfect solution for bad refs: Stop hacking, stop making errant passes, missed free throws and missed shots.
 8.
I feel if HJ plays they way that they are capable they will win.  If they show up like they did against Nederland then they will be in trouble.  LCM is a solid team that will be in the hunt for the 4th and final playoff spot in 20-4A!!!! I will take the Hawks in a closer game than most expect......HJ wins 59-51!!!
LC-M is an easy game. LC-M will not be ready for this game.
 9. This will be an easy game for HJ. It's in the bag; a done deal. LC-M? Please! They better not step out on the same court with HJ. ;D
 10. LAZEEK, man I attend a lot of tournaments year round. I get the opportunity the see the best players in the country. See guys who are going pro one day. But Little Dribblers during Nationals is on a whole "nother" level. I never heard of LD until I moved to the area and began to put on some tournaments. I thought LD consisted of 4 year olds playing ball. I gotta give it to them, one of the purest forms of basketball tournaments in the country. The kids aren't as talented but they play to win and play for team pride and their communities. So pure and fun to watch. ;)
 11.
When was the last time a teacher, or for that matter a basketball coach got fired for one bad season.  There are currently around 15 head football coaching vacancies.  As for the origional question, look at two 2A programs in the area - Kountze and East Chambers.
Ah exactly! Why aren't basketball coaches being held accountable for their winning or losing seasons? So maybe parents have to show more of an interest and let the administration know that its time for accountability. There is a lot of pride in your community and school when your basketball team goes off to State.
 12. Don't overlook HCYA out of Houston, I'm warning you guys. They have a kid who is a big school D-1 prospect and has a good supporting cast. Watchout for the homeschooled kids. ;)
:D I'm glad you didn't say you were going to broadcast the LD game.
I tried to get AAW to come to Fairfield and broadcast some of the local teams in the National Tourney last year!!!! :D :D :D
I love LD Nationals. Its  a lot of fun and town pride is involved.

 16.
It is a very good field, but not the field that I was originally told would be at this tourney. I was under the impression that #2 LaMarque, #19 Ozen, #17 Crosby and a San Antonio team were to be playing in this tourney. Still, with host #22 Nederland, #1 Galveston Ball, #9 Silsbee, West Brook, HCYA and Christian Life, this will be a very good tourney, one that folks should check out.
HCYA's Justin Jackson is good...9th grader

Time for you guys to go down. >:(
Having a bi-polar moment are we Dove???? ;D ;D ;D
;D Me? I'm fine NOW!
 18.
Depends on the school. What sport is king. Some schools probally need a fb ad if that the only sport they care about.....schools rich in basketball tradition needs a bb ad or an athleic coordinator.
Okay, so what do you do when football and basketball aren't that successful?  ???
 19. I could hand pick a team from HF and give you guys a run for your money at HJ. Time for you guys to go down. >:(
 20.
Ec had a decent tourney at Big Sandy. They finished third having suffered a loss to New Waverly by 5 in the Semi's then beating Woodville for third. Steady improvement with each game. Looks like EC will be in the thick of things with Anahuac and Kountze again this year. GO BUCS
I would think once you're guys get  into basketball shape, you'll be even stronger.
 21. Correct me if wrong but I was thinking this thread was more about the kids and their skill level in high school as a spot up shooter vs one who can create off the dribble. And who is more valuable to the team. The pros have several players who can play the game. High schools may have 2 players. Most spot up shooters I have seen at the high school level are less athletic, aren't great ball handlers and foot speed is slow. Give me an athletic kid who is quick and I'll show that kid how to wear the shooter's jockey straps.
 22.
Blue.... where did you want your sons to go instead of HF?
Sorry, I missed your question. But to answer your question: A school that has serious goals to march towards a State Championship and instill in their kids a winning attitude. ;)
 23. It’s mutual – Every single person in your lockeroom must see it and believe it. It starts with the culture. Everyone in there knows that winning districts or regionals is great but its not the ultimate goal. You expect to put yourself in a position to play for a championship. “Mutual commitment helps overcome the fear of failure—especially when people are part of a team sharing and achieving goals. It also sets the stage for open dialogue and honest conversation.” – Coach K
