I figured that was a conversation that you two have already had along with your wife momma. ;D Should have been first hand knowledge, not hearsay. ;)
Can you please let him respond for himself. He on here too ;)
 2.

I am not a basketball "guru" and really have no "hidden agenda"...well maybe I do... but I have a question that needs a plausible answer...I am perplexed! If a Varsity Coach has a few great players on Freshman, JV, and Varsity and your Varsity is not winning, why would a coach not pull from each of those disciplines to make THE STRONGEST team of the three? Why would it be okay to be MOSTLY concerned about the lower disciplines staying strong while your Varsity has the weakest record. Does that REALLY make sense? Help me professionals! ???
This year from my understanding Silsbee has 1 or 2 guys on the freshman team that could play on Varsity and the reason I got from coaches on why they are staying on the freshman squad is because they don’t want to break up the chemistry of that class apart That might apply in your situation The coach might want to keep a group of players together and have them develop together instead of breaking them apart Some teams have down years and you just get thru that and move on to the next
LOL! I called a coaching buddy of mine in East Texas and thats what he said. It's a way to keep little Johnny playing, even though little Johnny is not the best athlete. yeah, I heard the HF coach said the same thing. Silsbee has some good athletes and I can understand their coaches saying that. :D
 3.
Wow. I don't want to move I just want to complain.  Sure that your kids can read and see that you would rather hold them back at a school that has a top Little dribbler program that fizzles out in HS, then to move them to a challenging program at P.A.M. HJ or Silsbee.  You are right just keep complaining and your kids will learn that all that matters is to get on a message board and play the old blame game.  When that Little dribbler team stomped on the HF varsity did that not clue you in!!!!!!!!  You should have had your mighty Little Dribblers play HJ or Silsbee those are the teams you are measured against.  Hope the manager that the HF kids has talks to the parents and get those kids to a school where proper basketball training takes place.  Kids please tell your parents that you need a bigger challenge then to start on a team that has not won 10 district games in basketball in the last 5 years combined..
Chill bro! It ain't that serious, trust me. I was stating facts. The kids already have a bigger challenge, more than you will ever realize. High school ball is preparation for summer ball. Where it really counts  :o
 4.
I was very impressed with what I saw last night.  My only issue with this team is guard scoring.  It seems like Gary, Thomas, & Hamilton will need to shoulder the scoring load.  I have a BIG problem with that.  Navy have a couple of bigs with gerth and strength and they pinned Thomas under the goal on multiple occassions, and he struggled.  Illinois though tall, none of the bigs were strong or thick!  I think he will struggle with Pitt too.  Gary is short in the post eventhough he plays big.  Hamilton can revert back to jacker at any moment!  We need Brown or Corey to step up and give this team at least 10 to 15 PPG.  I am so excited from what I saw but I also have BIG concerns! I need Lucas to slow down... Looks out of control alot.. I need Brown to make the RIGHT play and not always the fancy play! I need Corey to shoot! I need Hill and Wangmene to use all of their fouls!
What kind of playing time is Lucas' getting this year? I never saw him in the Pitt game, but I did wait late to watch the game.
 5.
Hunter is listed as a Beaumont resident. Why is that?
I think his parents live in Beaumont and he pays HF to attend there. •live with their parents inside the school district attendance zone their first year of attendance (see your school administrator for exceptions),
 6.
Someone please post a link to these recruiting services that has these "middle school" rankings. I would like to see them.
Adidas has the national rankings from high school and middle school.
 7.
I understand that, but is it good for the kids to be ranked that early in their development.   This is my opinion, so no need to bash me for this, if you pay to play the coaches or person running the program is going to tell you what you want to hear.  Their sole purpose is to make money and for them to stay in business they need consistency in those who pay for their services.  Again my opinion, right or wrong!
Sure rankings can be a bad thing at a young age. But parents have to keep their kids at a leveled thinking process. Nothing really matters until you hit the 9th grade and then it becomes a business. You gotta keep working at it. But you don't punish a kid for working hard to be better either. You have coaches out there who will try and hold back players, sometimes because they don't want to appear to show favortism. But talent seems to find a way to overcome this type of coaching behavior.
 8.
If your kid is happy at school and doing well academically, stay there. Basketball season can get frustrating but even if your son is the next Michael Jordan, what happens on his school team means nothing. If you think he won't get recruited because of his school team you are wrong. No one gets recruited based on their high school team anymore, unless you get to Austin. Choose your child's school based on academic excellence, crime rate, prevalence of drugs, etc.  If he's a talented athlete, in any sport, get him on a "club" or "select" team in a metropolitan area.  Recruiting is done in the high school off season now. Enjoy high school basketball for what it is.
;)
 9.
The interesting thing about this post is that a freshman is not getting to play where their parents want them or feel they should play.  I wonder how much this or any parent that has this complaint truly loves their child.  I would think that any injustice and especially one as grave as not playing varsity for a team that when you combine their district wins it would take you 5 years to get to more than ten wins!!  MOVE and move now.  Yeah that makes too much sense and allows you to play the blame game.  Take your talents to other schools if it is a boy basketball player I think there is quite a few programs close by that win state so pick up and move.  Don't complain and open up threads like this be a person of action, that is of course if you want what is best for your child.  I think the person that opened this thread said do not bring academics into the conversation, so please do not give me any reason why you do not already have your house on the market and plan on renting in Silsbee or the HJ school district before district tips off.
I do have property in PA....hmmm?
 10.
I am sure that there are many things that the coach has to take into consideration.  First, he is looking out for what is best for the entire team.  Not just your son.  Second, what is going to be best for that player.  Playing limited minutes in a Varsity game or playing a lot of minutes in a JV game and going against the varsity in practice.  I am sure that Coach Richards has taken all of these things into consideration.  Man it is a little early for this.  Why do you think they are going to be that bad.  The only lost to Vidor by 12 and beat the crap out of Deweyville.  1-1 is not that bad.  Give the team some time to get going. Also,  did you ever think it wasn't his idea to do circuit weights on game day.  Maybe the guy over the entire athletic program is dictating that.  He is called the athletic director.  Just a thought.
Okay bballgod, the coach has taken many things into consideration, I agree. But what considerations? Let me give you a very clear picture of something. Being a bballgod, you should understand this: explain how middle school guards can consistently steal, trap, deny HF varsity guards in several scrimmages?  I repeat, MIDDLE SCHOOL GUARDS, thats 7&8th graders! This is not about one person. You're missing the point. A couple of those middle schoolers are in 9th grade now. More are coming. So as a coach you ignore what you have? Its about the future, putting a competitive team on the floor, winning-you know the word, right? I'm not paying a Booster Club for special privileges. It's just against my nature ;) Playing a competitive schedule ("ahem"YMBL for example). Please don't insult my basketball experience and knowledge with a comment about a victory over a 2-A program like Deweyville. OOOPS!  :-X :-X
 11.
Regarding the Opening Post - Mama - has the coach expressed his plans for the freshman and JV stars?  I know Coach Sutherland agonized over whether to move Bosha up to Varsity.  He wasn't sure if Bosha would be ready for the increased speed of Varsity, but Kountze's speed and quickness was a good opening test for the kid. I wouldn't assume that the rosters are automatically locked in for the full year.  Coaches may bring players up to go to tournaments or these holiday games and test the kids - that's what I would do if I was coaching and had a young prodigy.
So hard to stay out of this thread ;) :-X :-X  Okay, the crab (9th graders) would be your quickest player on the varsity...imma stop :-X

 13.
Stalworth might not be the best player in Texas maybe not even in the top 50 But he could sure be in the starting lineup for any team in the Texas 5A-1A
He does have a *star* sounding last name. I saw Silsbee play last season. I'm not sure who Stalworth is but I do know I saw several of their players who can ball.

If H.F wants to compete on the Varsity level then he's gonna have to play those guys up. Hj is wasting no time grooming their Freshman Sensation (Bosha) who put up 20+ against Ktz in his 1st Varsity game. Oh and he starts...
I disagree. The varsity is not void of good players. My biggest issue is pulling the best together....I want to compete...not just play. And this will become a very pivotal issue next year....I want a winning attitude to become infectious and we need to start now. Lastly, this is nothing personal at the coach...happen to like the coach a lot...nice person. Just trying to gain an understanding of the plan. Kudos to HJ for starting early Bosha will gain a lot from the experience.
I'm just sitting back reading.....enjoying the dialogue. ;D

 17.
DC is the best player in the Golden Triangle Region! At his height in the Houston area, he would really need to handle the ball better to play at the 5A level. He is a darn good talent and I would put him in the top 50 in the state.
You hit on a sensitive subject matter of mine. I think kids who grow too tall at a young age sometimes have a basketball curse on them. Too many times, coaches want to play them down low and no one never explains to these kids that ball handling, passing and shooting is a priority.
 18.
Glad to know the boys can overcome and decide for themselves. FYI, I hear Kelly and Legacy need some good players. ;) ;D
I do have to admit that Kelly doesn't mind playing a competitive schedule in Houston ;)
 19.
momma and Blue obviously are related. ;) ::) When will you two be going before the school board demanding that your son be put on the varsity? Even though he may not deserve to be on varsity, it look's much better on his resume, right? ;) It also looks as though you might be shopping for another school district to attend for athletic reasons.  ;) That's a no-no. ;)
my kissing cousin
 20. Giving the basketball situation a chance to see if it's a glorified Little Dribblers program or a high school basketball program. I'll continue to watch and if so, I'd like to meet with the coach (s) and hear the direction of the program. But circuit training on game day? Thats 30-45 minutes of extra gym time and skill development those kids could use. And I'm not sure about the JV whipping up on the varsity, but the middle school Little Dribblers did beat the varsity players on several occasions last Spring.
