1. That's the one thing about facts , does not give you a lot of latitude to debate.

The thing is, there is time to do all of those at the next level. Time is a little short on the high school level, and skill level must be the first priority. If kids can find time to get stronger thats an extra benefit!!!
Excellent FACTUAL response
I concur! But at the same time anyone can find time to do 25 pushups a night and 25 sit-ups. Do something! There are some big kids on the high school level who are beasts out there.
25 push ups and 25 situps on your own at night?  Great idea Universal offseason for basketball players?  Not so great idea
LOL! Wishful thinking on my part.
 5.
There is a player transferring from Lumberton Middle School and will be a Freshman at HF. She is a solid guard, but I would not use the word great yet.(Gotta earn that title.) Her dad is not happy with the Lumberton program.    Anyone know who the new HF coach will be?
The dad is probably transferring the student to HF because of it's academic reputation and athletics second.

LOL Zay is the only senior on the team this year:) Lynn is a Jr. :)
Maybe so, but his last year to play. Heard he was opting out of his senior year to go pro. ;)
:-X :-X

 8. It use to be a time when the summers were for improving your game for high school play. Times are changing. High school sports is becoming the activity "to keep busy" till the real season starts. 8)
 9. AND there you have it. Let us know what you guys picked.  ;D
 10.
Your team traveled here from California to play in the IFA Nationals. During the rain delay, you've already hit the highlights by visiting the Babe Didrikson Zaharias Memorial and Gladys City; Any other suggestions on what else to do until the fields are playable?
Well, you could drive to Houston and hang out @ The Galleria and watch the beautiful people, or watch the rain come down in S.E. Texas  :'( :'(
 11.
I'm transferring my kid out of H-J since the decline has started, maybe we will go to H-F.!!
LOL!  :D
HJ was just to small and slow for the big teams, Maybe they should take up the  off season weight lifting programe that is in place at HF.  It seams to be working so good there :D
Small & slow huh? LOL! I love it! The slow decline is about to start and pick up speed in 2011. :D
 13. Yall better be glad HF isn't in 4-A  ;D
 14. Good points!  IN some situations, you have players in middle school who play up in age groups (AAU). The kids are bigger and faster. The extra muscle helps because the younger players do get pushed around more.  I was a firm believer that push-ups and sit ups were good enough to get by in the middle school. I still do in some ways. But I've also seen where the weight training has put some muscle mass on my kids and seem to be stronger against their own age group in basketball.
 15. Stevie I do understand what you are saying and I agree with you.  Skill work is #1 and preparing for football should not dominate A basketball player's workout. But you have to incorporate strength training for conditioning and lessen injuries.
 16. Not sure yet. I'll post when they let us know.
 17.

I have no problem with the lifting durng football season. But I do monitor after the football season is over. Specific seasonal training is okay. Because of the nature of basketball, kids need the extra strength to compete and get better, especially when they play against older players.
Sorry Dove, but strength is totally irrelevant if the skills are not there.  Kevin Durant would be a prime example.  He couldnt meet bench press standards at pre-draft.  I'm pretty sure Oklahoma is thankful they ignored how strong he was.
Shoot! I keep forgetting who my audience can be at times. I was only referring to the kids who have the skill set, and can play against older kids. My bad!

 20.
Coach Aguilar did a great job at Hamshire.....  He FOUGHT hard for the girls basketball program and was met with alot of resistance from the powers that be...  I wish him well in his future endeavors... Getting a quality replacement is going to be tough on July 20th....
Hmmm? If this is the case, I would like to hear more because it's almost time for mine to enter high school.I'd like to know whats going on out there 8)
 21.
I'm sure this job in Louisiana is a good opportunity. However, I don't understand why you leave a team with the talent HF is bringing back. It can be argued the HF pg is one of the best in the area and I heard they were getting a transfer just as good if not better.
Sometimes a coach has to decide whether to coach a talented team making less money or coaching a talented team making more money.

 24. I love the trash talking- and don't think the HF kids don't see this.  REminds me of the old hound dog on the porch getting tired of being Stepped on and  ???  Oh man I've been in SE Texas too long. Beginning to sound like y'all.
