2.
I don't agree. Balbay has played great defense all year and he takes care of the ball. Brown has turnover after turnover in big games and his defense is no where near Balbay's.
UT has too many quality guards sitting while Balbay was taking away minutes from the better players.

Does EC value baseball at all or is it just a Basketball, Football school?
WE TOOK A  POUNDING YESTERDAY JUST LIKE YOU TOOK ALL YEAR IN FOOTBALL !!!! THIS IS A FOOTBALL THREAD RIGHT???
You changed it.  Like i initially said this was a football thread, just wanted to clarify that HF was young too.  Sorry if it made you defensive.
It was product of tarver system by far even if he was not there
So fellow HF"ER, you're just not willing to give the present football coach any credit huh? Hey, I don't know the guy so I can't say anything bad or good about his coaching.
 4.
Walker did not go to the playoffs until his second year @ HF.  I do not see how that was still part of the Tarver tenure. ???
If Tarver wasn't coaching, then it was Walker who brought them to the playoffs.
 5. I remember reading something once upon a time. It went something like this and I'm definitely paraphrasing here: If your coach is bad, maybe it's the team, if the team is bad, maybe it's the athletes on the team.
This would certainly be my choice.
tALKING ABOUT WORD OF MOUTH ADERTISING. i'VE SEEN THAT PLACE. I guess I'm going to stop and test the food one day.
back to our differences!  i could keep this weather all year!
I started thinking about the snakes, heat, mowing the yard and I'm back on track with you ;)
 8. I've never wished for summer before,  but I'm definitely beginning to think otherwise.
 9. Chili's??? In Liberty? Man, my job transferred me there back in the early 80's. They barely had a WAlMart there at that time. Chili's! Wow!

It was Lyons College, c'mon you guys are killing me with this feel of goodtimes is down the road.  :'(
I agree but this is what has become of our men's basketball program that can barely qualify for the lowly SLC tournament!  We crow over a victory over Lyons College.  I think I'm going to go to our games with a bag over my head like the Aints used to do.  I just need a name to use instead of Aints.  How about Losemar?  Or Can'tinals?  Little Red?  Big Pink?  BIG DED?  Lastmar?
Funny! But maybe that would get LU on the ESPN and help with the recruiting process :)
I'm all for it if it will help our recruiting!
I agree if it would help and bring attention or name recognition to the school.
 12.
Bellaire will not win state. JMO ;)
I ain't making no predictions Bellaire will win State. It's going to be a mental thing with them. If they want it bad enough they will win it. They haven't convinced me they are that hungry.
 13.
Really 15,25,or one point it still goes in the books as a lost man i had no clue that it did. Come on bro i was saying it would had been a closer game.
Oh okay! If that makes you feel better that it would have been closer; fine with me ;)
 14.

Balbay is a better defender but in Texas losses, defense has not been the problem
very true.  and brown has proven himself to be a very solid defender this season.  i'd prefer his huge advantage on the offensive end over balbay's notable, but much smaller advantage on the defensive end.
We're finally agreeing and on one accord.
 15.
This opens doors but players must step up! This hurts us defensively since Brown is no where near Balbay level on defense.
H e will not be missed on defense.
 16. You see it all the time and it doesn't matter what level you participate. If you're losing, everybody becomes unhappy and starts to point fingers. And it's easier to point it at the coach. Maybe he took on too much @HF. Time will only tell. But if the next coach comes in with the same record, then it's time to seriously look at your talent and you have to be brutely honest with yourself and your kids. Now if the new coach comes in and wins, well everybody is happy and all is forgiven.
 17.
This may have been forseen by the "greats" that were here before in each of their sports (Tarver in football and Keener in basketball). They may have seen "the well running dry" so to speak, so they took off before that happened and their name went with the decline.  It won't be too long before HF is back to being competitive again in football though, just going to take the right combination of athletes to make it happen.
I was wondering this myself. Probably they saw the talent level slipping in the area and decided it was time to leave.
 18.
Texas' assists leader out for season By Jeff Caplan ESPNDallas.com Texas junior point guard Dogus Balbay will miss the rest of the season due to a torn ACL in his left knee. Balbay, the team's assist leader and top perimeter defender, left Saturday's game at Texas Tech early in the first half. Texas (No. 17 ESPN/USA Today, No. 15 AP) feared the worst. MRI results on Sunday confirmed those fears. Balbay's absence will increase the pressure on freshman J'Covan Brown to pull his all-around game together. After garnering a start a week ago in a 40-point win against Nebraska, Brown reverted to bad habits during Wednesday's loss at Missouri and played just five minutes in Texas' 71-67 win at Tech. A native of Turkey, Balbay started 22 of Texas' 27 games. He averaged a team-high 3.9 assists, 3.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 21.5 minutes a game. He ranked third on the team in steals with 35. Texas (21-6, 7-5 Big 12) faces Oklahoma State (19-7, 7-5) at home at 8 p.m. Wednesday night (ESPN2).
This just opens the door for J. Brown to command that spot anyway.
 19.
I think it would have been at least a 10 to 15 point win for bellaire not a 25 point win Cleveland played them tuff going in to half with it only being 43 to 37 then after that it went all down hill they were just to big.
15, 25, or one point it's still goes in the books as a loss.
 20. Man, I wish Dickie V. was back on (thats a hint to mgmt). It would be nice to mess with him about Ozen. I'm tired of picking on HJ all the time.

 22. It would have been the same outcome. As I have said before, Bellaire has a calendar hanging in the gym with only One date Circled, and that's the State Championship. Too many big time real D-1 players on the squad.
 23.
Blue, I am just curious and I am not trying to start anything, but if it is a common process, can you name the schools that are doing it? I am sure private schools do it because they need "student-athletes" for revenue, but I am just curious if you know of any public schools that might be "courting"?
Public schools court. Been doing it, even when I was coming out of jr.high, and I'm old.
 24.
I'm in agreement with HF being exemplary, and it does seem to me that kid's parents that "want little Johnny to be looked at by big time colleges" want to move them away from HF, which is a sad sad deal.  For their education sake, I don't know why they'd leave HF.  Now if they'd all have that mentality, then HF could keep a core group of really good athletes that wouldn't lose that athleticism to other places.
Student-athletes are courted by other high schools with good acadeic and athletic programs. It's a common process.
