the only good news is that none of the freshmen are playing consistently well enough to make a jump to the NBA, so unless one of them has an idiot whispering in their ear, we should have a downright nasty trio of sophomores next year.
Next year!!!! I thought you guys were talking about the NCAA final 4 appearance this year????? I kept saying the Big 12 teams are going to be beating each other up in conference play.
 2.
Not shocked hf showed potential a few times this yr the basketball players there should be looking forward to next yr more than the past few
Yep, there is coming a time when East Chambers won't be able to handle HF ;D
 3.
Oops sorry-should have posted topic in hunting. The thing about boar hogs is to dress them quickly without cutting open any inner parts-remove breeding parts slowly and carefully.Get in a hurry and he'll piss on you and the meat.I season my sausage overnight in a cooler bagged on ice to keep the water out then grind/stuff hang in the smokehouse using red oak/pecan and near the end a few small pieces of sassafras.Sassafras puts a red color on the skin and an outstanding taste.Use only the trunk-save the root for tea and drink on hot days-it will cool you off as sassafras tea makes your blood thinner.Oldtimers say don't drink the tea in winter,it will make you colder.Wish we had some sassafras tea back in 2 adays and Nam.
:-\ :'( :o    I think I'll go to the salad bar today @ Jason's.
Fall 2011, you will see improvement. Thats because HF will have a mixture of players that will compliment their talents. It's going to be up to the coach to define the individual roles of these players. But a fun task for the coach I will have to admit. Stop living in the past and look to the future. On top of this, I have never been associated with a losing program since I became involved with organized basketball in the 6th grade. I don' intend starting now.  ;)
good luck with that.  i'm looking forward to meeting you out in sour lake next year :)
It will be a pleasure ;)

 8.
Coach Mangan was informed on Friday, Feb. 5th, by Superintendent Elliott that his services were no longer needed. Coach Mangan told a few of the parents this himself at the final middle school basketball games. His release does not become official until the next school board meeting which I believe is on the 22nd. Coach Mangan does have one year left on his contract and I believe he has offered to stay for the remainder of that contract in whatever capacity they can use him. This coach did do some good things here at HF. The total number of students participating in athletics is up since he started, just not in football. We have a no one gets cut policy, so anyone can participate. Coach's attitude toward discipline is at times a little over the top. While some athletes thrive on it, some of the athletes can not handle it. We all know that kids today are not like we were. The coach was always right and our parents told us to keep our mouths shut and stick it out. In our permissive society, it doesn't work that way. While the total number of participants are up, a lot of "athletes" chose not to play directly under him. And althoug I don't necessarily agree, I believe this led to his ouster.
And I just don't believe in kids quitting. Just because something isn't going your way it does not mean you quit.
HF will run those big men with the speed and quickness coming up in 2011. ;)
yeah, yeah.  you know HJ will have 3 guards to go with their big men to slow HF down.
nope! Those days will be gone.

 12.
Here @ the Empty Skillet Ranch between Moss Hill And Batson I'm seeing and taking several lg.hogs.Shot the 1st 250 # boar only 35 yds.off my front porch w/Benelli 12 ga.pump 3 1/2" mag.00 buck.Gut full of turnip greens and corn so next evening went to the deer feeder to check up on things when another barr hog ran at me popping his tusks w/hair on end so I gave him a dose of buckshot @ 25 yds.and knocked him back a few inches. This hog had been fighting and lost an ear and 1/2 a tail w/other marks. The barr weighed 210 lbs w/lg/sharp tusks. That was a first for me to have a mad charging wild hog coming full speed ahead at me so I will be very careful to observe and move slower in heavy cover from now on.While feeding cattle the 3rd evening saw 2 more hogs w/1 being bigger than the other 2 previously killed.Did not have my gun so I guess the river/backwater along w/all the hardwood logging has got em moving and searching for food.Smoked sausage is in the making now w/quartered pork iced down in coolers w/a little vinegar that takes out the wild taste.Keep em on ice w/the drain cap open also takes out the blood after 3 days.Try this on your next hunt.
Born and raised in the city I find this very interesting to read. Thanks for posting.

 15. It's subliminal advertising. It really works. Maybe they will offer you better services from the new members they will bring in to the cr.

 18.
I have to wonder if this thread would exist if players at Silbee were in Longhorn uniforms? Me theory (opinion) is no, (however, you can never say never, because there will always be that parent that wants the coach to play the best 4 players and his/her kid). I also believe there would be compliments about the coach.......(even in Hamshire, believe it or not) I bring this up because last night I watched Duke v North Carolina and it made me think of this thread.......guess what?  NC has lost 7 ACC games and may not make the post season tournament.  So? you say.......what is the relevance?   Well, Roy Williams is coaching there and he has won more than one National Championship......the announcers kept saying that he (and North Carolina)  will be better next year because they will have "better athletes"........ Imagine that a proven coach of National Championship caliber that cannot win his conference without athletes.........are those announcers insane? I mean if you know how to coach, you should be able to coach any athlete to win a title......I mean Roy is obviously not letting the right players play, and they are not developing any type of rythm..... and lets check that pre conference schedule to see if he knows what he is doing about scheduling...I am sure that is another reason he is not having success during coference play, because of his preconference sheduling of Division II teams..... I know,........... we also need to fire those announcers right now and find some that really know what they are talking about...don't those announcers know enough about the game to know that it is all Coach Williams fault.....North Carolina needs to find a new coach! ;D
Kinda shows you how crazy this game is because I've seen not so good coaches win on nothing but talent. Strange game.

The fact I found great about him is he never once stopped coaching. He coached his players with a 25 lead like it was a 3 point lead. Not to embarrass BC but to teach his kids. It was a well played game.
Glad to see someone with an open mind speak the truth!!!!  Thanks Gabe!!!  TS is a class act, has classy assistants and runs a first class program.  Some don't see it OR they are just jealous of it!!!!  Thanks again!!!!
OMG!!!! Oh but I forgot, this is a HJ board.
 22.
the more top-notch teams you have to play in the tourney, the more likely you are to get beat.  I'd much rather Texas' first two games be against a 16 and a 9  than an 8 and a 1.
Thank you! Plus you don't want to wear down your players in the early rounds with tough OT games and you haven't made it to the Final 8
