Seedings don't mean that much to me. I figure that if we are going to win it all, we have to put a string of wins together. Whether we start out playing the easier teams or not, eventually we will have to play the better ones, so if we're going to do it, just do it. I don't care about just making the sweet sixteen. Does anyone think we have been losing from a coaching standpoint?....I mean the motivational stuff like a kick in the rear! You can't think that you are great, go out just go through the motions and expect to win. You have to be dedicated and focused. Hook 'Em
seeding does make a difference.I'd rather play a Lamar University than U-Conn in the 1st round. -
Well originally I was going to ask what's up with this post but tonight my question may have been answered since I saw the AD coaching freshman boys basketball tonight vs. HJ. Tough reassignment to do 9th boys basketball. Is this a guess or an official post of a change in Longhorn land?
I think he was already coaching 9th grade.
I am trying to figure this out? I found this post in the "Youth Basketball Forum": Just wanted to congratulate the HF 7th graders for coming out on top this season. They finished their season Monday with a 44-16 victory over Bridge City. Not only does this group have some talent, but more importantly this is a group of young men with outstanding character. Let's hope this team can stay together and develop their skills as a team. If this can happen, the sky's the limit. Good job young men. Hampshire Fannett 7th graders: Jordan Hunter, Tyler Blackwell, Bryan Sturgess, Kameron Williams, Ky Walker, Andrew Swearingen, Houston Reese, Austin Rodriguez and Chase Barge. Good job guys!
WOW! One of the few HF residents to COME OUT and give some recognition to the players. I applaud you X :o -

I honestly think the coaches want the program to be successful, but I'll talk with them about it one day.
Plenty of schools where football is king and they don't want success in other sports. I don't know if HF is like that or not, but many are.
You make a good point. Beause the HF middle school is currently getting the kids ready for high school football. -

But I do know that Kelly and Big Sandy would be much better games for Kountze than the Legacy game. Silsbee beat Legacy in the Big Sandy tourney 125-54. But like it was mentioned, maybe Legacy was the only team to agree to play. We'll never know. ;) ::)
AAW, You live in Silsbee? I may need to use your address in a year or two ;)
Yes, I live in Silsbee. So do my parents, my in-laws, and both my sisters and their families. ;) ;D
Well, tell them to keep the lights on for us. :)

The difference from this Teaxas team being mediocre or great is at the charity stripe... This could easily be a one loss team if they could shoot a free throw! I know tons of highschool basketball players that arent trying to make it to the next level. So I think the numbers are kind of miss leading.
Thats true. Lets just say 150,000 want the next level. And not counting the foreign student-athletes ;D -

For example, basketball: UIL participants: 75,248 (boys) National participants 552,935 # of college scholarships 4,046.7 Pct. earning scholarship- .7% The numbers dont lie, and the reality is most will not achieve a hoop scholarship, so parents, make sure grades are first, sports are second because 99% will not play on the next level. You can't kill their dreams, Dove, you just can't... I mean, just because they spent $10,000 to get a $4,000 scholarship does not mean they spent money foolishly...
:-X :-X -
