Lamar men @ Sam Houston/ Lamar loses 90-63!

Wow! Thought I would come and visit this SIDE for a moment. Looks like I predicted correctly (again). The recruiting is catching up to LU; or lack thereof. -
Why act as if you have never seen?

Fellas, I could include the Wheatley Wildcats of the 1970's and none of the aforementioned teams would be able to stand up to their big guards, full court press (whole game) or big men. So its backto the future ;) -
Stormy, I'm here to publicly give you your props for being who you are. After his team was whipped by Silsbee the night before, this kid comes to the courts to workout by himself. To make a long story shorter, Stormy ends up practicing with the Senior Little Dribblers and he doesn't let up. He hustled the whole time and didn't back down. He ran laps with the team and inspired the younger ones. Stormy , you are da man!!!! I love your heart and your passion for the game. 8)
My biggest problem was going from offseason football practice as a QB and then straight to baseball practice as a ss. I would arrive at bball practice, coaches would watch me sail 5-6 throws into the parking lot before I got my throwing mechanics into baseball mode. It actually got to be kinda funny as it turned into a very well known ritual that we all enjoyed at practice each day. Those were the days. ;)
baseball is different mechanics. Only takes an hour to get your rhythm back from. Ss to fb. Basketball takes about 2 weeks to get into shape....rhythm, conditioning, etc.

How much of an advantage does the non-football or few football teams have. I think there is a definite advantage. Football kids rarely have a chance to rest there bodies after season. They start the day after football ends and have to go right into another season. Sure it is done year after year by most but can you imagine the fatigue? Basketball conditioning is alot different from football not to mention the pounding a kid that plays in the backfield would take.
And don't forget about track afterwards.
Or Baseball..... I mean, it takes weeks for your metabolism to slow down enough to sit in the outfield waiting for a fly ball!
Classic one liner, especially with all the baseball lovers in the area :D

Most of you feeling like this probably been on average Class 2A teams and have no idea. You have never had Nike in your backdoor. You have no clue and will never accept their accomplishments. You have no idea of what it takes to maintain a mental edge playing against inferior teams with your biddyball matality.
LOL! Aren't you the enlightened world traveler? But you do have me nailed. I played on an average 2A team, I have Nike's in my closet, not at my backdoor, and I will never accept Yates accomplishments as anything other than a good high school basketball team with a classless coach.

Aggie, on a serious note here, last night was my first time really watching HF varsity play a real good team and probably the first full game I've ever seen them play. I'm curious about what analysis do you have about the HF team? I mean, whats missing with this team?
As for HF, they didn't look too terrible. They have a couple of kids (Phillip Williams and Logan Johnson) that play hard and battle for points inside. HF's shooting from the perimeter is not up to par but most teams don't shoot well against Silsbee because of their length. Silsbee plays about as well a perimeter defense as they come. I though HF would shoot the ball better than what they showed. They were also bad from the foul line, shooting under 40%. HF got destroyed on the boards last night but that could be because of who they played. HF's guard play wasn't too bad, they did turn it over 24 times, but they also got some steals. Crutchfield was able to penetrate at times but couldn't finish off the plays. To be honest Blue, the Longhorns played with no confidence last night. It showed in how they shot the ball and how badly they got out rebounded.
Interesting Aggie, I told a couple of parents before the game started that the HF players lacked confidence. You could see it in their eyes. Silsbee 10-0 before the game starts.
from the desk in the kitchen of the Sanchez family home copyright 2010 It's very simple folks, you press the entire game when up by over 100, it's no class and no respect. You foul intentionally on every inbounds play when up by over 30 with less than a minute to play just to score 100 points, no class and no respect. Greg Wise was contacted by reporter but chose not to answer the questions asked by said reporter. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
OMG! Amatuer reporting! -
I see this as another battle. This game will be close from start to finish. I have noticed that HJ has had difficulty with athletic teams this year. They lost to Central and New Waverly, and won very close games over Kountze and WOS. I believe Silsbee is much longer and more athletic than all these teams. If the Tigers can maintain their focus and utilize their strengths (rebounding and defense) I see Silsbee winning this one, 67-58.
I was thinking on those same lines as well. I could only assume that HJ wasn't as athletic as Silsbee and would probably have problems with athletic teams.
-
I just can't possibly see how HJ can beat Silsbee. Their guard play is a little suspect but a good team from what I saw last night.

He's gotta be consistent. But a good time to keep up the good work and get back under the radar.

I recall David exiting his tent to fight Goliath declaring, "Where is that uncircumcised Phillistine?"!!!!!!! Consistency is the name of the game.
