He had over 15 rebounds that game and was scoring inside. I think HF could have won this one if the coach would leave hot players in, but nobody cares about should-haves and could-haves, just W's. This team has had the same 14 players all year and the people in charge have had enough time to figure out how certain players are doing, but it seems that there is just some element missing in the entire team chemistry (from coach to the last player). It just appears that when it comes to subbing, there is no rhyme or reason to who goes in and who comes out. It's just like "oh that guy is tired, so take him out", but when that guy is feeling it and in the zone who cares if he is tired? Just seems odd
Maybe the parents are complaining because their kid aren't getting the playing time.
No that's not what I was saying. Just look at it like this, if there are two players with equal skills and one is hot and one is not, why not leave in the one that is hot? I guess I'm crazy because I like to "juice the hot hand", but hasn't it worked for years?
Oh, I get what you are saying and I do completely agree with your comments.
That's a first :D
C'mon Ron, since 2010 started you're logic is DEFINITELY a bit more logical :o

Yep, in 2 years there will be more help for the freshman to play alongside with.
the neat thing about high school is that there are 4 grade levels to combine..... 2 great classes merged with 2 average classes do no always equal success......
Not true. all the time. I've seen average players elevate their game when better competition is around.
Dove is not going to have the team he thinks he will by the time these boys reach high school. This group is loosing 2 key players for sure and a possible 4 more. HF seems to have a problem getting the talented players (of all sports) to commit to their high school.
Six players? That many????? How do you know this??? :-X :-X
EC also has a very competitive 8th grade team. They were undefeated as 7th graders and remain so. They beat Odom 8th grade in the championship at their tournament this past Saturday, and Odom had about 20 A-team players while we only have 7 on our A team. It sounds like they would be a great match up with HF or Silsbee!
I'll put Silsbee's 8th grade team up against anyone's. They have yet to lose a game, from last year to this year.

EC 7th grade and HF's 7th grade....hmmm? I wonder. Oh, are you guys going to try and get the Little Dribblers Regional Tournament this year? I could just hop on a horse and save gas if you do.
Well guys I dont have a dog in this race but I have been around Youth backetball for 29 years now and I can tell you that you all are putting a lot more in to this than there realy is. I have seen star 7 and 8 grade players that were hands down the best players on there team , that when the same kid was a Jr and Sr could not make the starting line up with the same group of kids. Some kids just muture faster and they dominant the youth games but the other kids will catch them. In 7 and 8 grade just teach the fundamentals and let the kids just grow up :)
Yeah!Yeah! Yeah! We know this. But it's still fun talking the smack ;D

They have yet to lose a game, from last year to this year.
If the Silsbee 8th grade is as good as you say, that will help carry on the basketball excellence in Silsbee. However, judging from the performance of the 9th grade team last year, the 8th graders of this year will be sorely needed.
Last year's 9th grade team wasn't too good but they have seemed to improve as a JV team this year. They will be seniors when this current 8th grade team will be sophomores. This year's 9th grade team is not much better but I think they have enough to support the grade behind them. Now the 7th grade class behind this current 8th grade team will have to improve greatly.
You're getting better. I guess you needed somone to push you towards greatness. Your team analysis I'm referring to....
Blue, I have seen my fair share of basketball in my lifetime. All kinds, from "high flying" to "stall ball". I have seen state championship basketball, all classifications, for 38 straight years now. I think I know what I am talking about. I have seen teams that play the "high flying" style win state championships while being able to let up when things got out of hand. They had that ability and I believe Yates has that ability too. Wise just chooses to keep the pedal to the metal, no matter what. No excuse for that. I am sorry, but what is so hard to understand. A team is up by 88 points at halftime and continues to press the entire game, is running up the score intentionally. It is completely unnecessary. Has nothing to do with keeping the teams edge, or preparing them for playoffs, or preparing them for life, or.......... GET REAL!!! ::) You'll never convince me that letting up on the pressure is going to cost those guys anything. Self glorification, that's all it is. Like I said, I have no problem with someone scoring 170 points and I do not want teams to "quit" scoring. I just have a problem with a team that continues to trap and press when up by over 100 points. Totally unnecessary.
Wasted 38 years watching a game instead of learning the game...sheez!!!! ::)
You people realy dont understand until you have actually seen Yates play.....THere that good... they dont even have to play there starters to blow people out
True dat!
I can agree with that karma... and for you Bdove, I see all I need to see with HJ high flying hawks, Where do you live to see Yates type of basketball all of the time, so much to be use to it,,,,oh thats right HF. JK I know you didnt grow up there. It is amazing to watch them play. So will we see the same quality out of the championship HF teams you have been telling us about, or is it only possible in H town.
pOPPA, don't try and call me out. You won't win. You really don't want to know how I know the kids from Yates High.
I think you and I should meet whenever the HF 8th grade(I think these are the future state champs) plays against the HJ 8th grade team. Would you be interested in that?
Nash, no problem. But HJ has no answer for 8th graders this year. Your boy was scared to driblle the ball after it was stolen from him several times. See, I try and be nice on here but you have no idea whats about to hit the district by 2012. Oh, I'm pretty easy to find at HJ/HF game.
Don't forget Blue that this little ol area currently has one kid in the Big 12, one in the Big Ten, and one in conference USA. All are contributers and one is the teams leading scorer. I would say that is not bad for a small area like SETX!
I know it's a down year. SE Texas has always been a feeding grown for fresh young talent, I must agree.

After all the negative attention put on the program, I'm betting they take it down a notch when they get up big. I wouldn't bet my life savings on it though.
Wise has the green light from HISD administrators.
Publicly, he might have a green light. I'm still betting that he was told privately to tone it down. i don't have any inside info. I'm just reading quotes from the AD and he didn't sound too pleased with the situation.
hMM! Take a look at the Yayes Sharpstown scores and make your decision.
That score at least gives the "apperance" that Sharpstown was an active participant. [Hidden Content]
yes sir; much better athletic kids at Sharpstown. In fact, I tallked to the high scorer yesterday for Sharpstown. He said he got about 40 points.

I'm getting the impression some of you have never been around the high soaring gliding style of basketball in your experiences. It's just too unfamiliar to you. I bet you're use to type of ball in the Hoosier movie::) ::)
