Wise has the green light from HISD administrators.
Publicly, he might have a green light.  I'm still betting that he was told privately to tone it down.  i don't have any inside info.  I'm just reading quotes from the AD and he didn't sound too pleased with the situation.
hMM! Take a look at the Yayes Sharpstown scores and make your decision.

Also, the point about sending him to the best program. They won back to back, with some of the best players and a dang good coach..Kingwood was class, I understand they could not have beat people by 100, but they were the best team in the state and did it right..Wish some could have picked up on that!!! I will tell you what makes sense to some, have their kid play at a high profile and win championships...Nic Wise!!!
I would assume that some schools, Kingwood included, do not approve of, nor appreciate Coach Wise's "style" of basketball. Not sure why his boy's did not play for him. Based on their size, maybe they were not suited for that style of play either. Nic could shoot the lights out, but did not play "above the rim".
You need to check up on Coach Wise's coaching record. He was winning BEFORE Jack Yates.  Wise was coaching in the Aldine district and his son decided to attend Kingwood

You know, SEC, Big 12, PAC-10, ETC
I thought you were the smart one and already knew about this area and it's basketball talent. ::) You disappoint me, Blue. Of course now we'll get the comparison from you of an area that has 400,000 population to an area with 4 million. ::)
Thanks Aggie, you gave me the answer to my question and now I rest my case ;)
 5.
You can "color it" anyway you want, if a team is still pressing after being up by 100-12 at half, they are intentionally running up the score and showing a lack of respect and class. When I say "they", I am meaning the Yates coach in particular.
Stop trying to color it :D Yates is going for a record because they have the talent to do so. It's just that black and white ;)
 6.
Hogwash!
Why? Have you ever been involved (played?)with a talented team with 8-10 talented players deep? Those same players coming off the bench play the same skill sets as the starters. They play just as hard or maybe even harder when their chance comes.

 9.
Devin probably needs to go to a good JUCO to not only work on parts of his game but also to mature.I'm not surprised that Lamar is recruitng him however but they haven't done a very good job recruiting lately. You only have to look as far down the LU bench as Ashton to see the difference in the game at these levels.Hall was a great high school player with all the tools but even before the injuries he struggled on the D1 scene.
This is one of the common problems with a lot high school players.  They begin to read and hear about their own press clippings. Waiting for that major D1 call, and it doesn't materialize
 10.
surly decarlos franks is getting some look maybe not at the D1 schools that everyone thought but i bet there are alot of Juco's and DII that want him and also what about the two kids from kountze someone has to be looking at them
I think DeCarlos is prime for a good prep school. Gives him another to mature mentally and academically. Also gives him a chance to get back on the radar for a big D1 if he has the ability.
 11.
you guys can talk about younger level teams all you want but no freshman team is better than Nederland's...  ;D ;D ;D  Just thought I'd chime in  ;)
hahahahhaah! Might as well get in on it.
 12.
Oops. Did yall get trophys and your name in the record books. Don't think so. East Chambers best us twice the year we won state too... See where I'm going with this...We win when it counts bruh.
Ah yeah, we got in the record books and trophies. We were co-champs behind you guys. Our two teams were the strongest in Majors, no shame in those games.
 13. oops! Just got a call and a correction Swag. We're tied 2-2 against Kountze this year with the Majors in Little Dribblers. Yes, we lost twice to Kountze at Nationals.
 14.
Bluedove those youngsters ur talking about got smoked twice by us in Nationals. You keep bragging about those kids and in sorry to burst your bubble but Ktz youngsters are far better. That PG will be great but I don't see anything special about the rest of them. I watched Hj youngsters and the have a kid named Bosha that will give a lot of teams around here the business when he gets to high-school. So no, yall will not win district, "Ever" and yall better not schedule us. Lol
Yo Swag, we're not in the same district. That same team beat Kountze  that same year. Yall up 2-1
 15.
HF has a sophomore in class of 2012 that is very legit. He'd get PT and start on a lot of teams around here. The sad part is he's the only glimmer of light on their varsity. I asked him about it and he says they'll be good in 2 years.
yep, that's when 2015 class comes over toget their knocks and bruises intro to varsity ball.
 16.
In a few years, after the HF team has captured 2 or 3 consecutive state titles, how will they look when comparing them to the current juggernaut over at Houston Yates?
Nash, you obviously think I'm a crackhead who comes on here and say the first thing that comes to my mind. HF is or won't be near JY's athletic status for years to come. But that doesn't mean we won't win district in a few years anyway.
 17. What a classless act by Alabama tonight. They didn't have to  score that last touchdown with only a few seconds left in the game. It was already won.
 18. isn't Texas/Alabama game tonight?  ;D
 19. Don't really matter what you say, the reality of this is that the show goes on. Sit back enjoy or go watch biddy ball.
 20. nEWS fLASH: Jack Yates Senior High will continue to play hard-nose basketball, no matter who walks onto the floor.
 21.
Oh, and all of this talk about these kids trying to get scholarships and yada, yada, yada. COME ON MAN! Tell me ONE college scout who would take anything positive from a players performance in a game like this. JUST ONE! Are you seriouly going to say that a scout would be impressed that a potential recruit hit 40 in a game like this? NO WAY! Coaches and scouts want to see how you perform against the BEST! So quit acting like this game was going to somehow impact any players ability to get a scholarship. From what I've read, the Yates players earned all the respect they needed in the high level tournaments they won. Just step on the brakes when necessary and win with CLASS!
So I guess we should tell our kids to not try so hard in district academic competitions because one school isn't as good as the other. Why take AP classes? Fit in with regular students, etc, etc...............Are you classless because a student prepared and scored very high on the SAT and others weren't as prepared?
 22.

There are lots of poor and working class immigrants living near Lee High School.   Basketball is not the sport of choice in that area.  it is probably soccer.  It is an old and run down school.  There are some affluent families in that area.  They send their children to expensive private schools.   Yates running up the score on Lee is classless.   That would be like one of the big suburban schools beating Yates by 10 runs in baseball.  It is too easy to do, and therefore not that big a deal.
What does class have to do with basketball?  Nobody cries when teams beat the Jags by 20 goals in soccer or when Lake Travis beats teams 50 to nothing!  I have seen the suburban baseball teams drag these same inner city schools by 20+ runs!  I guess since these are inner city black kids, this big wins is a definition of class?  All these kids play one way, and that is all they know.  A lot of what they do wont even transfer to the college game, but that is what they know.  Even if you back them down to the half court they would swarm and play aggressive!!! What's classy is how these kids represented themselves in Hawaii and Alabama.  What’s class is how these kids have positioned themselves to attend college academically and financially.  What's classy is how this is the ONLY ranked team with no kid listed in any scouting polls top 100 (first time it has occurred in history of ranking high school players!)  Do me a favor, has been go sit at one of these high school soccer game and baseball games and call those kids classless too!!! Other than that.. You need to check yourself!
Wow! Well said! This should close this thread now. Wisdom and common sense spoken. ;)
 23. Actually Mike Young was a good shooter. he was off that night against NC State.
 24.

I don't like they pressed for so long but if Lee doesn't want to get scored on so much, play better defense. This is almost exactly like a football team scoring 70. Nothing ever gets said about that.
Am hearing a rumor that the Yates team is essentially an AAU all star team.  Any truth to that?
Just rumors! Yates has always been good in basketball.
 25.
Bottom line, Westend, blowouts go on all the time but when it happens in the Burbs, no calls to the radio shows or no features on ESPN.  3rd Ward nets a blowout on a hapless Lee school and it's the topic of the day and the kids are labled thugs and whatnot....
I predict channels 13, 2, 11 and 26 will be at the Houston Yates/Lee game. And not to cover any new records.
