1. And I'll be right here again dissecting the LU crew with pros and cons.
 2.
Was the guard white? If so that would be Christian Sanders. He is a very talented ball player and a good point guard. They also have another point guard who is talented as well named Anthony Culberson. Their bigs are Jeremy King, Aaron Durley, Chase Kammerer (sp?), and they have one more. They lost Trey Guidry to St. Pius, but it might be for the best because it will open up playing time for some of their bigs. Talk about an embarassment of riches, that would be St. Thomas. Kelly will have their work cut out for them, but that is a long way off yet.
The one guard whom I paid the most attention to seemed to be bi-racial.
Only McThay shot a decent percentage from behind the arc last year.  Hopefully Roc brought in the right players to take care of that problem.
"Mathis, a junior college transfer from Oklahoma, scored 24 points. He made five 3-pointers. ..." Maybe Mathis will be THAT guy???
Against whom did he score 24????
 4. They had several of their players hanging around the camp shooting and talking with the middle schoolers. I saw a guard who appeared to have a very good game and two big kids. I do know their pre-district schedule is tough. They must have some ballers over there.

 6. Silbee got a break tonight. HF was going to lay *hands* on the Silbee (mascot?) football team. :P

 13.
The season starts in a little over 2 weeks so I'm getting ready for some basketball too.  With so many new players on the team it's near impossible to make predictions without seeing any of these guys play.  What I need to know before making prediction is (1) how healthy is Justin Nabors?, (2) how good are the JUCO guards Roc brought in?, and (3) will any of the big freshmen be able to step in and make an impact?  I think once we have a few answers then it'll be easier to predict how well the season will go.
I agree coach.
 14. I'm sure Miles' game has improved over the summer, only time will tell to what degree. The jury is still out on this one until I see for myself.
 15.
6'5!!!
Are you serious? That kid jumped up like that. He was probably 5'7" last fall.
 16.
Cool they can fight it out for 2nd then!!!!! :D :D :D
:D  HJ is going down. Plus, I can find another *move in* from Houston.  ;D
 17. By 2012 HF will give Silsbee all they can handle. ;)

 20.
Hamshire-Fannett 2009 District Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 In Volleyball!!!!!!  Congrats Lady Horns!!!
There is a strong commitment to volleyball out there. They have a passion to get better and compete.
 21.
I like the schedule.  It is nice for recruiting to play the likes of Memphis, Kentucky and Louisville but it really does nothing for the record or the confidence of the team.  Playing teams like Rice, UL-L, Tulane, Denver, Middle Tennessee will get you better prepared for conference in my opinion.
Lose to these teams and your excuses from the coach began to wear thin.
 22. I'm really pumped up as well. But I see it's going to be a long season with you guys again. Hoefully we will be able to agree on a *few* things this season and the direction the team is taking. I see again you all have high hopes for the team. I'l try and see a practice one day and see whats over there, and try and save my comments for now.
 23.
For ANY school to truely be successful(be it winning state or just being able to compete with the other teams in the district) it takes a LOT of work. Way too many kids don't wont to put in the time and work needed, and end up doing what they think is good enough to get by. For teams like HF has had recently it takes even more time and work. I know the coach knows his stuff and how to work the kids. When he was at Lumberton he was always competitive and has beaten some schools he "shouldn't have" like PAM, WB, Silsbee... Invest the time and effort and it'll pay off. Just ask H-J kids!
Exactly! You see it in baseball@HF.  Kids are practicing and playing almost year round.
 24.

The way they are quitting football, they should hit the floor during athletics.  Unless that coach said you quit football, you quit all athletics!!!  It's ashame that happens in High School sports because no one likes the coach!!  H-F has good kids and good athletes, EC is better, and H-F want go out and try to find a top of line coach.  And you know BlueDove, H-F had good quality teams several years ago and the last with all the changes in coaching, it has gone down.
I understand your love but I'm more proned to tough love. Those kids look good against the Bridge Cities, Huffmans, St.Annes, Hardin-Jeffersons and Dishman Elementarys of the world. But when you see them compete against the Jaspers, Silbees, and lord have mercy the Orangefields, this is not a coaching problem. It goes much deeper than most people want to admit. Most of the kids just aren't that good. My 8th grader is fast but does not have or at least has not shown on a consistent basis to play the game the way it should be played. Consistent being the key word. They are consistenly bad each year.
Dove- You are really confusing me.  You are saying that the HF kids "aren't that good" and, at the same time, declaring them to be the 2013-2015 State Champs.  What am I missing?
We're talking football
 25. Move ins are very common especially in the bigger districts.
