  1. Okay, we need to get back on topic.
  2. Trust me, there is nothing that Dove can teach me about Texas A&M. You just been schooled, son!
  3. Boy, I tell you, give an Aggie a mile and he wants to take an inch. Give an Aggie a degree, and he prefers a GED! Aggies aren't "given" degrees, they are earned. Then they are called BOSS!! ;D BTW, an inch over a mile is more than a mile. Thought I would help you out in that equation. So who calls you BOSS.......and don't say your wife or I will tell her!!!! Oh no, she is the BOSS!! Masters degree from A&M trumps me. I can remember when A&M was considerd a "hick" school. Curtis Dickey put that school on the map. Nah, Paul "Bear" Bryant did. Nope! Curtis Dickey! A&M was 'hick" school on a prairie somewhere. A&M made a Cotton Bowl appearance in the 70's and their enrollment began to increase.

  7. I agree with you, DV. I think where these kids get the real exposure other than playing for their respective schools, is at the camps. I know that in football, the recruiting services really specialize on the camps that the players attend. I was fortunate enough to be given a lot of insight on Silsbee's Jeremy Johnson's recruitment, and what I saw was a lot of emphasis on the camps that JJ attended. Yes, colleges knew about him from his playing games for Silsbee, but the services spread the word much greater with his camp appearances and how he performed at these camps. That's exposure. But, it still comes down to how you perform on the field in real games and that's why West Virginia wanted him. I believe this is how it is in basketball too. Wow! And I thought Aggies were brainless. You have gotten to the meat and the potatoes, my boy Now you're on to something.
  8. Ah, here is a smart man! C'mon people! Name me a player who gained recognition by playing AAU ball!!!!
  9. I always have this question when I hear a statement like the one above: Name me ONE player who has had exposure from an AAU team? Ryan Donahoe and Tramain Thomas both! Ryan wasn't picked up by any nor highly sought after by a lot of major colleges. Thomas is playing football. They played AAU and summer ball, but gained exposure through their high schools. Give me some other names......

  11. Plus, if the talent level is down, what may be the causes from this lack of talent in Southeast Texas? There are 3 or 4 high school in Beaumont. Surely somebody can step up.
  12. I've been out of the high school for awhile but how did Franks get on the ESPN 100? Did he get the exposure from his team going to Austin his soph. year? 2nd question: How and why did he drop so far out from under the radar?
  13. Oh well, I guess I have to wait for season tickets to watch local Little Dribblers.
  14. What are you talking about Dove...sour lake has many attractions....Our secret to great consistant basketball lies within the secret mineral water just like the old day's they flocked to sour lake, the birth place of Texaco for what is in the water. That and the home movie theatre in my living room where the movie and popcorn are always free. It is BYOB though. You just cant beat a deal like that...oh by the way the next feature is the 2007 state championship game. The next few features of the following years after that finishing up with this years 7th state championship tournament appearances. Hardin - Jefferson-Sour Lake, Sounds like three towns combined. So when you play someone its like three against one.....no wonder its hard to win there.... Actually, they should call it: Harin-Jefferson-Sour Lake- Fannett-Liberty H.S.
  15. I noticed where Donte Green @ West Orange and Bernard Boyd @ Ozen haven't been signed by any schools. Coming from a successful program like Ozen, you would think somoene would have signed the Ozen kid. I mean, surely a JUCO would have signed him by now. How much responsibility should their high school coach have in this matter?

  17. I had an old coach who loved the 1-3-1 defense whole-eee court! I hated that defense. The point was working his azz off while the teamamtes seemed like they were playing cards on the other end of the court. Yeah, Dove I had the same "old" coach that you did, and talked him out of that defense on many occasions as a player!!!!! He must have softened up in his older days. We better think about telling that coach how to run his team Dove- Just wondering if the 2013-2015 state champions will run that defense? Hmmm? Good question! I'm not sure how much basketball they know at HF. I've never watched the basketball high school games @ HF. Not sure if they will know what to do with their speed and quickness from those teams
  18. a⋅cad⋅e⋅my  /əˈkædəmi/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [uh-kad-uh-mee] –noun, plural -mies. 1. a secondary or high school, esp. a private one.
  19. Yes or no question. Do you think being able to coach kids for an extra two months is an advantage. Yes or no? Wait a minute! I know a public h.s. coach that coaches during the summer. Those kids are feeding into his h.s. Maybe thats different. ???
  20. Okay, they also have several teams within the high school.
  21. I was informed that Oakhill has several teams......Pros, NCAA, high school, middle school, which team are you referring to? ;D

  23. DV, are you suggesting that HJ recruits or has recruited in the past? I am not suggesting anything....I just know that the innocent approach that they take saying "we have turned away kids that do not live in our zone" is a crock...Especially if those kids happen to be former HJ "little dribblers"...There are not THAT many ball players in the Sour Lake community...They can come from other places, and nothing is wrong with that, just don't try the purely innocent deal with us on here. Ya know, I remember two guys from HJ telling me @ LD Nationals their relative moved back to Liberty because he (they?) weren't getting the playing time they thought they should have been getting.

  25. But, to answer the poster's original question, I never could understand why coaches run away from competition. I thought that was one of the primary reasons for being in sports. Play good teams gives you an idea what areas your team need the work.
