HJ looking for one team for 09 Basketball Marathon

Aransas Pass? I didn't know it was big enough to host a major tournament. -
It would be interesting reading to see why Travis Williams (who was the leading contender) to get the Ozen job was forced to pull out. There was some hardball going on with the board.

Whoa-aa! Wait a minute! Am I living in a different time now? I always thought teams wanted to play the best competition available. Have times changed? Is HJ use to playing in a weak district and have forgotten how to play competition outside of East Texas? Or is it possible that HJ feels DV's team may not be strong enough to compete? -
Ah, yes. "Change we can BELIEVE in" Straight ticket and pride? Does this mean you think that Blagojevich and Spitzer were mistreated? I said liberal not stupid

It is still undermined. I don't think that it's as much about an apology as a true, heartfelt, compassionate suggestion that IT WAS WRONG. I just keep getting...it was bad, but it was part of history; Africans sold slaves; our forefathers did the best they could; at least it's over now. Yet, somebody gets their boxers/briefs in a wad because someone states that they don't care about car bombs and children being killed overseas. It's just the lack of empathy for what happened...the nonchalantness. All I can say is you're definitely in the right place. Give me a break......it was over a 100 years ago. There WERE white slaves.......I'm not blaming anyone or asking anyone for an apology. I was upset about the car bomb because it was in the last few days..... Find something else to be mad about......... You make Little sense. We all say its bad and we disagree.......yet we don't have a true, heartfelt, compassionate apology for you......and that's OUR fault?? : : 100 YEARS AGO? What about Jim Crowism? 1960's ,1970's... -
Most coaches believe if any player is worth the look, he will already be under the radar.

That couldn't be it. Crockett has to be over 90 miles from Beaumont, right? So thats not a valid reason. Maybe all the teams have signed up? Bluedove...........dont stick your nose where it doesn't belong...........he said the last team in would preferrably be a local team...........I would guess because they have used all of their budget as far as getting a team from out of town in hotels. Bad attempt at pot stirring. Budget? Do you realize the school DV will be coaching, the students drive BMW's to school. They ain't worried about no budget. -

You know that u use the constitution when its convenient for you. According to you its worthless because it was written by a bunch of thieves and liars. Who on here is not telling the truth about slavery? 100% of us believe that it was totally and morally wrong for all countries that were involved. But nobody here was a slave, it ended over 150 years ago. People weren't beaten or bombed just 150 years ago. Jim Crowism is/was just as bad as slavery. Step out of slavery into Jim Crow era. Jim Crow is still around just hidden better these days. -

History books have a way of coldly delivering facts and figures on all things historical. Did your history teachers teach it without any passion, feelings, etc.? Is that the deal? Teach it? Man, they passed over it! -
Well, I just hate it when hicks step out of line. Just stay in your place.

I loved all the jokes going around about helping him move faster. Companies offering their services for free if he would leave in December 2008. -
Kenyon is a good friend of Josh and I love him as a coach...........however bluedove comes on here and takes a shot at HJ as usual........uses an incorrect school name when he talks about the coach. So I am busting his balls. I love Josh and think he will be great. spinks, I'm old school. It's Memphis State!!!!!!! And what does Kenyon or HJ have to do with big-time basketball? The closest HJ players come to big-time basketball is when the NCAA Finals are on their tv sets at home, and you better hope it's not a stormy day. Kenyon and Josh played AAU ball together........yeah I guess Kenyons player of the game against Duke in the NCAA tourney was small time basketball wasnt it. K and Josh talk all the time. Remember when I KNEW cal was taking the job before everyone else....................hmmmmmmmmmmm...........lets see.........hmmmmmmmmm! We've already discussed why Lamar looked good against Duke several months ago. Duke took Lamar lightly. Duke's intensity level was totally different against (Kansas?) in their next game. Thats the way competition is: You play weaker opponents and stronger teams have a tendency to let the weaker teams "hang around." Duke stepped up the 2nd half and you saw the difference. lamar was just happy to be on the floor with Duke that night. :)

And the next generation will be the gr-gr-grandfather...then the next will be the gr-gr-gr-grandfather, then the next...... No matter how many generations you look at (and it has been about 7 generations or almost 150 years ago), when do you move on? 200 years? 300? Strategy of a typical left winger.... Use the past (no matter how far back) to justify their socialistic agenda, and maybe even get free stuff from the government. Okay, stop using that old dried out constitution as reference to your rights to bear arms. -

No matter how many generations you look at (and it has been about 7 generations or almost 150 years ago), when do you move on? 200 years? 300? Really! The same people who were attacked by dogs and beaten are still around to remind us of their story. Just like the Constitution is studied and mentioned today, our history will be today. -

OK, completely honest here. Educate me if I off on this point. I have never been poor. I was never raised poor. BTW, poor meaning homeless, on government assistance. I'm not rich by any means. However my father was poor. He was raised on a 18' houseboat in Lousiana till he was about 14. His father semi abused him. He had my Father drive a boat 8 miles up a river, drop him off and he had to drive it back by himself. He waited 8 hours for his father to return. Oh yea, he was 8 years old at this time. His Dad was a trapper. Even though my father was poor I was not. I have NO CLUE what it is to possibly not eat one day. He tells me stories of his younger years that I can't imagine that happening to me. All his stories did was to convince me not to ever be in that situation. Now, slavery..........it was bad, but no one on this forum lived it. So, why keep bringing it up? Maybe because my gr-grandfather Avery Bias was born a slave and millions more like him. -
Yes, that all sounds like it has a lot of depth, intelligence, and wisdom. However, since the coach has not been a D-1 head coach yet, perhaps you should give him a little time before drinking his kool aid. We were all told that another former Memphis assistant and current local coach was one of the great recruiters of all time but his local record has yet to reflect that. In two or three years both Pastner and the local guy will probably be beating the door down at a 3-A school just outside of Beaumont on I-10 because of the championship status. He coached at Arizona, man! He coached at Arizona for ONE YEAR!!!!! It is not called Memphis State in this day. It is called The University of Memphis. Listen, Hal is his dad it don't matter if he done it one year.....Memphis State!

Ok, you said there were no white slaves, there were........now you bring up you dont need a history lesson. PNGkid is throwing facts as I do to support my statements. The history is history, it cannot be changed, BUT we can learn from it. In order to learn from it, you have to know it and understand it! About 40 messages ago I gave my spill on the things I thought Bush did well. I have to agree, Homeland security is one of the best things he's done. Although I did pose the question about if white people had been slaves...earlier than that, I posted that there were white people that were indentured. I believe there is a slight difference in the two. My eternal thanks to you and kid for "learning" me about slavery with all of your facts. Sadly, many facts have never been published in books, but as long as America was able to prosper and the select few were able to become profiteers at the expense and maltreatment/murder of others...hey, it's all good. I don't know what his legacy will be. Maybe that he rid the world of hussein, but at what expense? 9/11 was a test that no one could have truly been ready for. I think that we had no other choice than to go after binladen and it was the right thing to do, but I think that invading Iraq was not. I mean, in the history books, what will be said about why we invaded Iraq besides that hussein was responsible for some horrific atrocities. I just wish that he would have had the ability to either realize that he made a mistake (and not just with Iraq) and apologize for that particular decision. How about we knew he had WMDs, he had UN resolutions to answer to, he had to let our weapons inspectors see if he was indeed hiding anything (we know he was, what do you think he did, kissed those 250,000 Kurds to death?). Our inspectors were getting close and he ordered them at gun point to leave, which they did. Do you think he got rid of those weapons during that time? Hmmmmm. Sadaam Insane had scud (dud) missiles to deliver his explosives. I, to this day, don't know how we kept the Jews from all out attacking him. We kept them at bay by protecting them with our patriot anti-missile defense system. Some scuds still got through and did some damage and killed some people. Do you realize the magnitude of the situation, had he been able to hit the Jews with a WMD?????? Anyone here that doesn't think Sadaam Insane had WMDs is a fool. BTW, where were you when all of this was taking place....under a rock? One more thing. Americans did not execute Sadaam Insane. We turned him over to the Iraqis and they let him drop. I still love what the soldiers said to Insane when they found him....''Greeting from President Bush!" GREAT POST!!!!! I can't understand how some of you people let Bush and Cheney pull you off track to think Sadaam was the enemy? -
