So hoops, does he get the scholarship from playing at Bryan or Houston Hoops/ Or a combination of both? -
EXACTLY!!!! Please! Duke never took Lamar seriously that night. If you review the games between Duke AND Lamar and Duke's next opponent (Kansas?), Duke's intensity level on truly on a higher competitive plane. Duke played down to Lamar. Watch the tape.

You got that right! His dad has done a good job of positioning his son with the right teams to get exposure. I'll be keeping track where he is this summer. My guess is back with the Hoops. -
Best Freshman in Golden triangle...

NOPE... Put it in the hood... The west end has everything already! I just prefer the field mice over the hood rats. -
Donahoe could take over a game more than Kenyon could. What made kenyon a sure d1 player is that he had larry birds basketball IQ and he could shoot the ball and had size. Shot the mid range jumper as good as anyone and that is something that is HARD to do. In high school I would have rather had donahoe and in college I would have rather had spears. Funny, I never look at Lamar being a legit D-1 school. Kenyon passed up an offer to play at texas and tamu in hopes of something bigger(a pipe dream even though he is my bud). He single handidly lead his team to the state semis as a soph and texas loved him. He held out and his value diminished big time his senior season. Texas and TAMU? yEAH SURE! When are the HJ guys gonna learn to stop waiting on the big D-1 schools to call their homes? Somebody is listening to some bad advice over there in China, Sour Lake, etc.

Ah-hh! I see you keep up with some touchy dark basketball subjects that would take an entire online book to cover. Since you mentioned Peters and Reese, I''ll stick more to subject matter in regards to them and my own personal opinions. As far as Peters, I've never seen him play other than watching him at the so-called elite camps. Plus, he'a a big man so I don't really follow bigs because they are suppose to do the thing they do. They are bigger than everybody else ;D There was a time when I didn't know what class Peters was graduating because the reports were very conflicting. What you call reassigning is what I call Grade Exceptions (GE's). GE's are prevalent in AAU from the 4th grade and maybe more so in high school. I too think it is disgusting to hold back kids for athletic reasons, but it is being done by parents. It's already enough kids being held back because of academic problems. As far as J-Mike, I agree, Lynden Rose seems to be quicker and better. But understand, the ranking service for these kids is a big business. It's about getting their names out there and keeping it out there. I think his dad has done a good job of promoting this kid. He does or at least did pick and choose where he son played. J is going to have to depend on his ability now , but thats what dad had in mind anyway, I'm sure. I agree about the Hoops, the one time I saw them J looked out of place and unsure. -
Darn! The way you guys talked about him, I thought he was about 6'2."I've seen him in person before but it's been about 2 years ago. Good player.

Okay, so J.Bernard and a few others make All-State at tiny 3-A Hardin-Jefferson and other 3-A schools. So what does the future hold for this kid now in relation to going to the next level in basketball. Is he D-1 material? If yes or no, please explain your pros and cons. I'm curious because I've had two 4-A coaches tell me 4-A and up is better to play in for the exposure and competition.

Sweet! Where is the location supposed to be? I think they're using the area across the road from the mobil park. Which is next to Ford Arena. -
It would look even better on the west side off 105 and Major area.

He has another son but I've never seen him play before. -
This trend is going to eventually stop. I foresee the brakes being applied on HJ in 2-3 years And I'm really hoping it will stop with the group from Hamshire by 2011. 8)

J-Mike has been promoted since his AAU team won the 10u (4th grade) AAU Nationals. This kid has been to every major basketball camp for his age group since then. His dad is the head coach at Bryan. He's actually received letters from Arizona (?) and another major D-1 while in middle school. This kid played with the Houston Hoops #1 team and travelled across the country with their older team. He didn't get a lot of playing time at times but the experience definitely got him ready for high school. The kid is being groomed to play in the NBA. -

I wish they would build it near the west side community off Majors and 105 area -
If we're talking about the same kid, he's going to get better and may present some problems for Hamshire in high school. But it's going to depend on what they bring for his supporting cast :-*

So that means that Silsbee could be one of the only school in SETX who has ever had a #1 national ranking in a athletic sport....... Does setting a national record in the 400m relay count for anything (even if not from Silsbee)? Jasper was the first high school team to run under 40 seconds at 39.9 hand-held and was the record holder from 1991 to 1997 when a Dallas team ran faster. So they were not just the best that year. They were the best ever from inception of high school track until 1997. Silsbee also had a guy who ran track that set a national record but I forgot what event it was and his name but AAW should know...........I think he also ran in the Olympics......... Was it Tony Allen?

Good luck with that! H-J has two awesome 7th Graders that just OWN the floor. A four is a Power Forward The one is the Point Guard The two is the Shooting Guard The three is the Small Forward The four is the Power Forward The five is the Center I've seen your 7th graders. Actually, your (2?) guard is the best athlete on the floor right now. He has a good game. Granted, the others may step up by the time they reach high school, or play within a system that they can play in with limited abilities. :-*
