  1. I learned at an early age that everyone put their pant on the same as others 8)
  2. Questions, may I assume that you are an unsigned senior and you want to play in a showcase? And what kind of suggestions are you looking for?
  3. Who did you play and what is your age group?
  4. I remember when my brother was between 6th and 8th grade and HF beat TC most of the time. In case you were wondering when they got in high school HJ lead the nation in scoring one of those years and HF...............well........that was the last time they were DECENT!!!!!!!! The results of Little Dribblers matter very little. Now when you get to high school and get to put the best kids together from 4 years worth of grades. HJ has the luck of having such a great combination of athletes and basketball players. For example..........this year alot of people said was going to be a "down" year for HJ. So much for that huh ;D ;D ;D ;D See, thats the problem, you keep looking at the past HF. HF hasn't had athletes to compete in basketball. Da Dove knows all!
  5. Did you see what HJ's freshman did to HF's this year? While it sounds great to play a whole freshman or sophomore team on varsity there are rarely if ever an entire group of kids ready to play varsity before their junior seasons. If you look around at schools most have one freshman every 4 or 5 years on varsity and maybe 2 or 3 sophomores a year on varsity and these are at HIGHLY successful basketball schools. In other words not Hamshire Fannett. HF can do this if they would like but it takes having 4 grades of talented basketball players and selecting the best from each of those 4 grades. Having a good group of kids will only result in one good year most of the time. By the way..........I consider a good year a trip to the regional tournament. Just my opinion. Ah-hh exactly! Hamshire has a good group coming in next year (9th grade). They can probably beat the varsity now.Let them play varsity as 9th graders and get the experience. Then there are several talented players coming in the next two years to help with the more experienced 11th graders (the future 9th graders). I've experienced it and seen it done. HF would be a contender by time the next year 9th graders are in the 11th. By 12th grade, the seniors and juniors would win State 3-A
  6. Thats right, make fun of poor ol' HF now. I'm telling you HJ people, HF has some 8th garders now who will be leading the pack soon. But in the meantime, tell the Majors they can't run forever.
  7. Trust me. some things are being worked on now for a certain BISD school and I'm not talking about Westbrook.
  8. Re-read my posts. I've never said Travis is going to CENTRAL
  9. What AAU team do you guys play with during the summer?
  10. Expect a dirty trip with all that dust blowing up out there as yall load up on the bus. 8)
  11. Nope, at the time you guys didn't know if you were going to Austin. The Seniors showed up and got blown out, but the Majors from Harin-Jeff have not agreed to play our Majors. It's not a question of who will win, our teams want to play new people.
  12. I think if Hamshire Fannett play their Freshmen for the 09-2010 and get that varsity experience (beating), they can come back as sophomores and begin to build the program up to notoriety.
  13. Hey you HJ guys, can you find out why Twin County Little Dribblers Majors are running scared from the Hamshire Fannett Majors? We can't get you guys to scrimmage us. The Seniors came but lost by 20+ points.
  14. We've been a 3A school since the 2002 realignment. We were 3A when we won it in 97, but in 1998 we opted back up to 4A for two realignments. We're barely hanging on as a 3A. Our enrollment last time was 523 students, which was just 73 above the cutoff for 2A. Wow! I didn't know the school had lost enrollment like that.
  15. Dickie, I don't think you were born yet or at the minimum, you were still in diapers ;D No way dude! ;D..I was an eighth grader attending the first annual Tony Branch Basketball Camp! That year my brother signed with him at LU...We got busted for sneaking out to the MC Hammer/Heavy D Concert in the Montagne during camp by none other than Doug McCarter! Ran us to death for that!! LU football asst James Brown was with us too!! I had forgotten that your dad use to come up here and help with the camp. Boydoes time fly.
  16. When did Dallas Madison become 3-A????
  17. Okay, I've said too much......please close the thread or I will be forced to deal with my alter ego and possibly spill too much :-X
  18. Travis who?
  19. I sometimes like to throw some news out to sporting community about upcoming (unknown) tips for conversation and I have some new flashes for you. Now remember, when the old Dove break news on the forum, I've always had the scoop before the media. Yall listening now? Okay here we go with a few news flashes in high school sports: Two high schools oops I meant 3 high schools in Beaumont (are there more?) are going to have shakeups in their head coaching staffs. But wait a minute, I've told too much already so I'll just stop here. A certain coach with the initials T. ooops....I better not say too much because Ozen...ooops!
  20. Oh but I disagree with this, "and the decision to form that new conference turned out to be a mistake." The American South was a regular top 10 conference in BB and one year was ranked 6th best BB conference. Compared to the SLC average rankin of 23rd. The fault was in LU, not the conference as that LU and UTPA was the only schools that went down. Blame poor leadership at Lamar. But the new conference didn't have an automatic bid for a few years which I think led to the demise of the conference. Also, I think by abandoning the SLC, Lamar essentially "gave up" on the football program. Since they had few successful years, by going I-AA independent there was no way the football program could be successful. Bottom line is this: The conference was too tough to win and the cost of travel was too high for the losses LU was going to incur
  21. Dickie, I don't think you were born yet or at the minimum, you were still in diapers ;D
  22. It would hurt the schools with weak players
  23. Okay, I'm convinced now. I'm going to start cheering for HJ during the State playoffs. gO Hawks!
  24. Dang, makes me wanna have a group hug...... :'( :'( :'( :'( I hope you guys win. Then I can brag about our district and the state champs.
  25. SLC East Division Champs! ;D Since it took SHSU a double-overtime win to split the series with LU you should be happy they'll be back in the East. Coach Marlin is a fine coach, but he's still at SHSU because he can't take the team to the next level. I don't think Roc's job would be safe at LU if he equaled the success Marlin has had. Being consistently good and competitive is good, but going to the NCAAs is what it's all about. If Roc could equal Bob Marlin's success, then we would be on a different level here. Roc could recruit better athletes, even if he had only 1 NCAA trip to his resume. You would think after LU made it to the "Big Dance" in the late 90"s or was it early 2000's (?), the recruiting process would have been a little easier to recruit better players.
