  1. Still doesnt deny the fact that he is 2 years older than everybody playing. I'd like to address this person's statement. In some circles, it is called an "age exception." Age exceptions at the younger levels of basketball will start an argument in a minute because a 9 or 13 month age difference does make a huge difference in skills. But it's common knowledge among basketball gurus that by the 10 or 11th grade, the cream begins to rise to the crop and age is less of a factor comparing basketball skills. Sure the player in question probably has a slight advantage based on maturity. But this is also why some parents hold their kids back, in order to give them a competitive advantage in athletics by the time they reach high school. The person from WOS brings up a valid point. One that should not be dismissed, but at least discuss the pros and cons about the situation. It's like a college freshman or sophmore playing in high school. See, I've never had a problem with age exceptions. I'm a firm believer you get better by playing older players, especially in basketball. So it's really helping the younger players develop. So, the other question is this: Is it helping the player in high school who is 19?
  2. "You can't get blood out of a turnip." Be happy the kid scored 14 points I think that's one of the hazards of a good local HS player playing a Lamar, everyone expects them to play great. Also, looking back a few years, when McThay resigned with Lamar, I don't think anyone thought he'd be the starting guard playing all these minutes. I think Coach Roc is doing a great job winning with these good, but not great, players. I see improvement every year in the players he's bringing in. Excellent points! This is my first year watching Hall play, but I did hear about him often when he was in high school. I was watching some tape the other day and noticed how slow he seemed to move. I bet with a good conditiong coach and extra work in the gym, the kid could really improve his game. Right now, the game has caugh up with him and he's no longer bigger than the other players. Good points about Hall, but I am telling you that he is not 100% still from his injury two years ago. He was far more explosive in high school than he is now. I understand different level of competition but he is not the same. I'll take your word on it. Inuries can slow you down, whether it be physical or mental. Because it can be just as hard wondering if you're re-injure again

  4. Thanks Souja1, I'm going to make it a point to see Central play this year.

  6. I guess thats what happens when you and others read the press. The kid surely has a target on his back now. Maybe some teams are focused on him and he needs to elevate his game mentally. He definitely has the skills, but I think he may have to practice just as hard on his mental skills for an all around game. How didi the freshman for Central play, Kristan (sp?)?
  7. Thats one of the negative aspects of being a good player. Everybody expects near greatness out you every game. Which probably has a lot to do with Franks. But I would like to hear your reasons why you believe B.J. may be better than D.F.?
  8. You really meant LU has played 3 quality teams, right?
  9. I think we'll be at open gym at HJ this summer. Find out what kind of basketball machine you guys have out there. Something is driving yall and I sure hope it's not the manure.
  10. Sheez! How about OF by 10?
  11. Ozen is an athletic team, disciplined, plus fundamentally sound. Thats a good strong combination to have in an arsenal..
  12. I just hope it is a good game 8)
  13. Yeah right Central win's because they are better this year, why you think their coach left? Their coach left to take a six figure job as executive AD, 2 minutes from his home in Port Arthur....Talent had NOTHING to do with his decision. What would you have done? Hey Dickie, I talked to mom and dad on Tuesday. I told them I was keeping you out of trouble
  14. Listen fellow HJ supporter, don't come on here being a smart azz if you know what I mean!!!!!!! You and I both know that HF will not compete for a District Championship and that is fine, but do not try to start stuff with HF fans. : : : Thats it!! We're coming to China or whatever the place is called and workout with HJ players this summer.
  15. yep like not washing your game socks because you thought it might wash away your luck from previous good games
  16. C'mon fellas, let's be honest and forthright on this subject. In the real world, what gets the money, recognition and students to universities are successful athletic programs. ;D
  17. I am just a BS'er. I have fun on here so don't take anything personal!!!!! ;D ;D ;D I'll never believe another comment you make after this confession
  18. Anything for a mental edge, right?
  19. OldWiseOne, I can go along with your theory in football but not basketball. Basketball is far more complicated than some other sports.
  20. I'm sorry, I could only see him in his Georgetown uniform hitting shots. My bad! I got carried away. Did he ever play any games for Lamar? I googled him and it says he played for Tyler JC then Georgetown. Did he play some as a freshman for Lamar then transferred to Tyler JC? I don't remember him, but then again I pretty much gave up on Lamar basketball in the 90s. I don't remember. I gave up on Lamar in the 90's too
  21. HF, why are you picking on me?
  22. I'm sorry, I could only see him in his Georgetown uniform hitting shots. My bad! I got carried away.
  23. We were listing the best Point Guards. My list would be: 1.George Butler 2. George Butler 3. George Butler 4. Geroge Butler 5. Kenny Dawkins
  24. Sabine Pass? They have a basketball program?
  25. Okay, this is a joke, right? HF= Hamshire Fannett versus Sabine Pass????
