  1. According to whom? This was a good SR class for HF but they lost their two best players. They just had some rough injures early and thing went south from there but Horns will be back. As much as I want HF to win, you have to be honest with what you're dealing with there. Right now, HF does not have the athletes to keep up with WO-S and Silsbee. Speed kills us. And thats something we don't have yet.
  2. This kid is good but I don't know how quick he is because I saw him play during the summer and it looked like he was favoring an ankle at the time. But if he is as quick as someone said, he could be a high D-1 choice. If he's not quick, then a school Lamar will be hunting him down.
  3. I agree, Iverson has come a long way and I think he's willing to do what ittakes to win a championship for his team.
  4. You say the team is better. Better than last year? Better on paper? Please clarify your statement. Better...period. I don't want to talk bad about former players so I will leave it at that. This team will be more consistant, unlike last year dr jekyll/mr hyde team. This team will play much better defense. Hmm? I'm almost tempted to bet against your analysis.

  6. Maybe this year's LU team hates practice and will perform better in real game situations.
  7. Isn't football season about over now? I can't take too much more. I'm so desparate to watch/talk/sleep/eat/ basketball right now that I'll take a Litle Dribblers game about now C'mon HOME LU!
  8. Is bernard the left handed shooting guard or am I getting him confused with someone else on their team?
  9. Congrats Silsbee on your win over HF. But I still own some bragging rights because my old high school whupped you and new how to take care of business. Go Panthers!!!!
  10. WAIT!!! That was the score of the 7th grade game last night!!!! Must you be so cruel? My son plays on that team
  11. Now you want to get political and talk about IQ's. You really should not go there. Maybe you need to look at his opponents and their academic history and compare the three. You really don't want to go there about IQ's. You really don't. Stick to football and HJ.
  12. I repeat, this is the type of schedule you want because now you can go to a good low D-1 prospect and show him the competitive schedule of the team. This gives this type of player the opportunity to test his skills against the big boys.
  13. Picking Sanders does not surprise me because he stood out above all the other players in camp, in my humble opinion. I didn't realize the other player I was noticing was Hopkins from Lamar. One could tell that Hopkins has knowledge of the game and for this reason he stood out as well. Good picks for the Mustangs. I wish them luck in their basketball careers.
  14. On the hardwood, lots of great hoops success in the 70s and 80s. Nothing much of a blip of the radar since for the most part, especially as it relates to the postseason and conference championships... UH was hurt with a major infraction by the NCAA some years ago. Still never recovered from that incident. But the new president has a vision and new directions for the school.
  15. Hold on fellas, as much as I don't like HJ (in a playful way of course) going to the playoffs, I'll take a trip to the playoffs anyday than sitting at home reading the results on the forum.
  16. Yep, reminds me of 1975 and Cougar High is about to be introduced to the SWC with our previous 2-8 record. A&M, UT, etc were licking their chops thinking Cougar High was going to be a pushover for the next season. But anyway, Cougar High has nothing to be ashamed of especially when you look at the history of the school.
  17. Actually SEC would be a good fit because it would open recruitment doors for the SEC schools to recruit in Texas. Closest game? UH wants to expand their football schedule within time.
  18. HoopInsider 3A/2A/1A/Private 1. Hardin-Jefferson - Killer B's. 2. Silsbee - Lil' Shannon & crew will go toe-to-toe with HJ. 3. Kountze - Lost Devin Bray but Roman Walker returns. 4. Newton - Won't begin playing until December. 5. Anahuac - Talent & coach is there. 6. Orangefield - Got a taste of playoffs. 7. East Chambers - You know who is no longer there but don't sell them short. 8. Big Sandy - Moved districts & gone is their big man down low. 9. Spurger - Talented group who lost to Big Sandy. 10. Hull-Daisetta - Will contend with Spruger for 25-A title. Okay, what about Hamshire Fannett?
  19. UNLV, I'm curious as to where you are getting your information? Are these random thoughts on your behalf? I don't think UH wants to save money by being in an in-state conference. We must travel to other regions of America which would make a positive recruiting tool. But, what about TCU, SMU, RICE, and Houston getting together and maybe a couple of other schools? But maybe TCU would take it as a step backwards. Our first year in SWC, we (UH) averaged 40,000 plus fans. It would be nice if we could get into the PAC-10 or SEC.
  20. Then what conference will UH play in. ECU, UCF, and M Per my contacts, UofH is trying to get into a larger conference. What conference? That has not been mentioned for obvious reasons. The 2 nearest BCS conferences is the SEC and BIG 12. Noway the SEC. BIG 12, are full of Texas hating schools so NO again... No BCS wants Houston... Houston wants BCS, Houston needs to build a conference BCS will accept. You sound like the people when Uof H were admitted to the SWC and we began to dominate the SWC.
  21. BCS Conference

  23. I realize you may be stitting up conversation (at least I hope so), but there is no way UofH would play in the same conference with Lamar University and Texas State.
  24. Hmm interesting! I'm going to present this idea to several players from our Cotton Bowl days and see what they say.
  25. I thought Dodge was suppose to be the second -coming at UNT. I seem to remember his son is playing there too.
