I graduated from Odessa Permian in 86. Yates always seemed to stop us in our tracks. That was the good old days. Man, OP wasn't a real team. They cloned those guys from a lab to play football. ;D But you're right OP had some great teams back then. So what happened? The lab was raided and destroyed?

Yates holds a special place in my heart. I'm sorry to hear this because of their long tradition of winning football seasons.

I saw about 10 players play out of probably a maximum of 30. Out of the group I saw, Sanders from LU looked good. You could tell the experience was a grade higher than the competition he was playing against.

Probably has good skills but so does everyone else at this level. You gotta be able to bring something extra to the table ov er the next guy.

I'll repeat it again, HF is in a good position to spoil the season for some teams in their district.

I watched some of the workout today at the Mustang camp. I saw a variety of players out there. The kid from LU itht he long hair dreds looked good.

Ya'll have problems its kids playing football for crying out loud. Two grown men on the same side! just plain stupied!!!!!!!!!!! C'mon guys, you've seen the fighting parents on the news/tv during their kid's sporting events. This time it was in or near our backyards.

As I mentioned on another thread, H-F can at least play the spoiler role this year.

I agree, but maybe it will be fun watching the team as they run and shoot up and down the court.

I'd like to see H-F, but it's out of HJ and Silsbee. I'm kinda envious of the HJ program, so I will go with Silsbee.

Yep, you can't judge by middle school standards. Some kids mature and others don't, which is why you have to keep working to get better.

I know alot about football and I'm no coach...but I'll tell you this...If your a big time player and in the redzone it don't matter if they're playing cover 2 or 3...if your 6'7"...you go get the ball!...You gotta have the mindset to get it done...I wish people would understand...it ain't the coaches that don't get it done...PLAYAS MAKE PLAYS! "Mindset," now thats an important word that is overlooked in a lot of coaching ranks. Probably because many coaches don't know how to teach it. A good mental attitude with a 6'7" height is an all-american in the making. Roberto Clememte once said, " If the ball is hit inside the park, I should be able to catch it." Now thats a good mental atttitude that will take you a long way.
