  1. I'm beginning to feel bball excitement myself. I was looking at the LU schedule today and marking dates on my calendar. Go Car-rrr Okay let me try it again. Go Cardinals
  2. The old days are definitely gone. College athletes are earning degrees at record rates, according to a NCAA report released Tuesday, and at higher percentages than the overall student body.
  3. Listen, I live through my kids and there is nothing wrong with it. Thats why I make sure they study, get their homework, play and learn competitive sports. We all live through our kids one way or another. Don't let the plastic bring you down.
  4. Just reading the word "baseball" makes me sleepy I don't think baseball makes you sleepy, by your avatar it may also cause the munchies. ;D A regular Jay Leno
  5. Mere bodies to fill the squad for practice....sheez! Texas Ambass. ( main team)top players left last year for greener pastures.
  6. I believe this is why Arrow left, knew what he had done and saw the ramifications coming. Lamar doesn't need someone like that. yEP, it will eventually kill your program for a number of years.
  7. Hamshire Fannett can play the spoiler role this year. HJ's 9th grade team could beat HF's Varsity!!!!!! :o Keep Hope Alive!!
  8. Who did BC play?
  9. Excellent point my man, Ronnie Arrow knows how to win and obviously knows talent when he sees it. His track record speaks for itself. But I don't really know if Arrow would have styaed long after building up the program.
  10. 11. TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI - Ronnie Arrow did a masterful job in his tenure at TAMU-CC, turning a green D1 program into a 20-win program. But after making the Dance in 2007, Arrow left, and its hard to tell whether the program can regain a decent level of success under Perry Clark. =================== See, this shows us that it is possible to have a program in a mid-D1 school and have success. Obviously the coaches are out there to turn programs around.
  11. You mean there is no "daddy ball" in SR Babe Ruth? I can see that. By then kids have probably decided what their cup of tea is. Down in the younger divisions of any sport, the parents think their kid is going to be the next Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, or Roy O. And don't forget mommaball. Thats where the coach's wife threatens the coach he will be sleeping on the sofa if their son doesn't get back into the game.
  12. Just reading the word "baseball" makes me sleepy
  13. See, this is why we need to shorten the football season and extend basketball ;D
  14. Oh God! Another boring ...err boastful year of listening to HJ fans ranting about an average team.
  15. Hamshire Fannett can play the spoiler role this year.
  16. In youth football, give me a natural athlete anytime because there isn't much technique in youth football. The best stand out
  17. Football is Life! Life is not fair, so learn from it. Some of us do the work, while others get the credit. Teach your son to be the best player he can be at whatever position he plays. Point well taken. And in life there comes opportunities. Be prepared when it's your calling. True story, I knew a player once who would complain about getting little playing time. I would tell him you never know when your time is coming. A starter blew his knee out one night and the complainer was immediately put into the game. To make a long story short, he wasn't prepared mentally or physically. He stayed on the bench the rest of the season. You may not be the man this year, but there is another season approaching.
  18. Well, obviously we already know where H-F and Orangefield rank in the district for 8th grade
  19. I think the problem comes in when the coach's son is not the better players at that particular position, no matter how much he works him out.
  20. Thanks! You make many good points. For now I will try to encourage my son and keep my comments to myself or take it up with the coach. The problem is the coach keeps promising my son he will get other chances but nothing happens. Now my son is frustrasted and lacks confidence in himself and his coach. He loves the game so I will try to stick it out and hope for a better next season. Ah yes! Good ol' DaddyBall is quite common in all sports. Been through it too but in AAU basketball in Houston. I have no problem with Daddyball if the (coach's) kid is better or is really good at his position. I know you won't do it but calling out teams or names on the forum will not solve anything. And I also admire you for not encouraging your kid to quit. Just keep encouraging him to practice and get better than he is now. When the opportunity comes, be prepared to take full advantage of the situation. Because we were from the Beaumont area and playing in Houston, no one knew my son. He wanted to quit also because of some daddyball issues. He made the all star team there and got the exposure. But the main idea is that he was ready when the opportunity was there. Also, keep in mind that once he is in Junior High, you may not have to put up with daddyball. There is a bigger goal down the road. I do understand what you feel and what you are saying. Another dad on our team quit for the same reasons. But I was taught never to quit no matter how hard you may think it is, because it gets better. And I have found this to be true in my playing days and looking at others who stick with it. My son says he is thankful I didn't let him quit the team. Look at the long term goals. It will get better.
  21. Lets see...hmm? 8th grade football and basketball!
  22. Someone is trying to start controversy before the season begins huh?
  23. Hmmm? You know, this makes sense about Roc's strategy with the team.
  24. If Miles is the kid from Clear Brook/Lake (?), I heard from a source he isn't or wasn't all the hype thats been posted about him. In fact, his name wasn't mentioned among the top guards in the Houston area. But hey, some guys do mature late and Miles may become the man at Lamar.
